"He rolled his ankle. He hobbled off the ground, but he was walking around in the rooms and he was handing footballs out (to fans) after the game, so we're pretty sure he's going to be fine," Carlton assistant Tim Clarke said afterwards.

I suspect Acres is going to be extremely underrated by Carlton supporters.

The guy is an absolute monster, his running ability is psychotic. There were a few plays today where he just kept going at the same speed when other guys would be completely gassed. Throw in how big he is and I think he's going to be a very valuable addition to our side.

Deliberately avoid the game day thread until the final siren for good reason. 🤮🤮🤮

Still far from convinced about Docherty as anything more than stop gap in midfield. Worked into the game later.

Reckon Cowan is in front of Cincotta. Definitely found one there.

The long bombing from Cripps, Acres, Cerra from midfield is an issue. Possibly a sign that we still lack a speedier hit up target through half forward.

Kicking was ordinary generally in the froward half, JSOS will again be borderline if he can’t convert chances into goals.

TDK was brilliant early, his trajectory is exciting but still lacks consistency within a game.

Harry looked great. Charlie tried hard without much reward. Fisher was busy. Motlop looks very very promising.

Acres knows how to find the ball not the cleanest today. He and O’Brien are our first choice wingers.

Hearing very positive reports about Walsh’s recovery.

McGovern, Pittonet, Walsh, Martin, Durdin … a bit of quality missing today against a fairly settled Collingwood. Can’t ask for much more.

However … whinging about commentators … they were absolutely fine for a practice match, Ruby actually has a real personality, gawd forbid.

Young Lemmey and O’Keefe really good first half, both had an impact on the game, Binns had some important touches as well moves beautifully…

Dow good having an influential impact in contests & around the ground, Carroll got a bit of it busy, Pittonet also been good Kennedy off after the first but was busy in his only quarter out there…

All the VFL boys having a good crack, the pressure and commitment first class from them, the quality and standard of players we now have at this level is encouraging and great to watch…

Cowan caught ball watching a bit. But the class is there. Id have cincotta ahead of him for a rd 1 spot. Love his intensity. Something we lack a bit in the back half.

Hollands impressive but not sure he’ll be there come rd1 based purely on his lack of strength currently. Everything else is very, very good.

Watching the twos Hudson and Lemmey have really impressed. Love their athleticism. Lemmey has a smart footy brain. Astute acquisitions from what I can see.

Dow looking in really good nick. Running both ways fairly powerfully. Never going to be an aerobic beast but easily the best I’ve seen him cover the ground. Playing really well with some strong tackles too. Interesting to see if this peters out in the second half.

Binns is an absolute workhorse, but kicking is letting him down. I don’t think it’s something that can’t be fixed fairly easily as his style is actually quite fluent and compact. Love his second, third, fourth efforts.

I just don't care about what commentators say but from what I heard they were fine.

Maybe they know more about Collingwood. You'd be the first one to complain if they got something wrong about a Carlton player....

Some people just complain about weird s**t when watching footy ......

I just like to complain about those people

Nah. It was irritating. Ruby is clearly part of the Pies makeup and so had plenty to say on th topic. They could only provide bromides about Carlton players.
