Being a good runner has nothing to do with footballing ability.
Crazy how people think that is the case. Fitness is clearly a key part of playing elite sport, and the players that have come back in great nick is fantastic. Blight has worked hard over the off-season and has given himself a great platform to attack this season from.

But to think that a players ability to actually play the game is based on their FIRST official time trial of the summer is crazy. This was the first day of pre-season with everyone present. Pre-season is exactly that, a time for players to do plenty of running, work hard and get themselves into playing condition.

We also have a young list, who haven't completed 6+ pre-seasons. They are still building their aerobic base trying to bridge the gap to the guys like Broad, Kmac and Prestia. All of whom have been on an AFL list for 9+ years.
 
Any danger of Juddy Clarke getting into the gym at some point? Surely could have put some size on the upper body while not being able to run due to the ACL. Getting concerned he hasn’t got the body type to compete at the level. Still young I guess, but the guys we just drafted already look more ready on day 1…
Good point (i think). Have to wonder what they do while injured. Obviously rough not being out there with their team mates. Hotton’s dad said Taj hit the gym while injured.

Was thinking the same re:Gibcus. No bigger in the upper body than he was 12 months ago.

I joined like a week before I joined here. As soon as I joined my account was pending approval so I couldn’t post on the site. A few days went past then I got banned for spam 😂

Let me start be saying I have zero knowledge in this space … but could it be that guys with ACL’s are not encouraged to build up their upper bodies as it just means more weight to carry around during rehab ?

As I said, 100% guessing so maybe someone else can advise if upper body weights may not be ideal for ACL victims??
