You cant be serious.

Cole has significantly more composure and poise in his game.
He’s a good solid player.

Nelson was solid at times.

Ergo he’s an upgrade but I don’t think they’re miles apart as players

Yeo’s sounding like he’s shifting back to the midfield permanently.

We generally play seven defenders, six midfielders, two ruckmen, and seven forwards.

If we name eight mids then a couple of them will be rotating through the forward line.

So it could be Kelly, Sheed, Yeo, Gaff, maybe Hough on a wing, one fringe best 22 player (not necessarily a rookie - O’Neill’s in his fifth season and Clark and West are mid-20s), then Shuey and another rookie/fringe player rotating through.

Looks alright to me, provided they’re all available.

The only obvious change to our best (on paper) midfield from seasons past is Redden out, Culley in.

From there it will be up to availability and opportunity as to what it looks like week to week.

I can see pitchforks if we go with Kelly, Shuey, Sheed, Yeo, Gaff and Culley as our midfield 6. But reality is they will be the core with others coming through for longer bursts as the season progesses.

Stumbled across this interview with Dom Sheed. Great listen and covers a fair bit of ground from the 2018 GF, the difficulty of defending the title in 2019, Sheeds battle with injury last year and the risks of re-injury when returning from a layoff, his fitness this year and discussions on Yeo, Shuey, Gaff, Allen and the rookies

One of the podcasters is a WCE fan and mates with Sheed so it’s a pretty relaxed interview and gives far more info than a normal 10 minute radio spot. The questions are also quite intelligent and Sheed is given time to answer them

Definitely worth listening to

Has there been a group of players live off a premiership whilst still playing more than this lot?

any body have access to this one?
West Coast ramped up their pre-season training with another match simulation session at Mineral Resources Park on Friday and a familiar, but surprising face, was on hand.

Here’s what we saw at Lathlain today:

Surprise face

There was a familiar face at Mineral Resources Park in the form of former Eagle Jackson Nelson, who was on deck to assist pre-season preparations.

Nelson, who played 102 games across eight seasons at West Coast, warmed up with the main group before heading to the side oval for some running, but was called upon to lend a helping hand in match simulation.

Jackson Nelson took part in today's match simulation at West Coast.

The defender and occasional tagger was delisted from the AFL playing list at the end of the 2022 season, but the club threw him a lifeline in the form of their WAFL team, which he will lead alongside former Essendon midfielder Alec Waterman.

The 26 year-old looked delighted to be back among is close friends and was noticeably chirpy as he galloped around the side oval during the running drills.

Veterans rested

After injury hell last season, the Eagles look to be taking care of a dynamic duo in pre-season to ensure they get the most out of their stars come the winter months.

West Coast’s answer to Batman and Robin - Nic Naitanui and Luke Shuey - spent some time apart from the main group during the first phase of match simulation.

Nic Naitanui sat out today’s main training.

The pair appeared to be in good spirits as they underwent some running drills and Shuey in particular looked to be moving smoothly.

Naitanui re-joined his teammates during the second part of the match hit-out, while Shuey stayed on the far oval and did some low intensity tackling drills alongside Shannon Hurn, Tom Barrass and Jake Waterman.

Wounded defenders on the mend
In news which will warm the hearts of the West Coast faithful, Liam Duggan is close to joining the main group after a cautious start to pre-season as he completed a series of running drills with minimal fuss on the side oval.

Liam Duggan is close to returning to the main group.

He was joined by Luke Foley at the start of the session as the pair jogged laps before slowly ramping up the intensity.

Tom Cole stepped up his recovery from an ankle issue, but was was still restricted to running drills, mainly focusing on straight line speed.

Barrass continued to work off-ball, his forearm still sporting a cast, with the reigning club champion restricted to running laps on the side oval.

Takes a fair amount of effort to watch a match sim and write an article on everyone apart from the players who actually participated in it and a guy who isn’t even on our list.

Unreal.

Indeed. I'm more interested future Brownlow Medallist amd AA captain Tom Cole went, he's the answer to all our woes from last year.

It’s kinda like being sent to do a match report then writing up what you saw during the little league match at half time

Apparently it’s “surprising” that if we need numbers to help out with match sim, the first player called up would be our WAFL skipper who just got delisted in October after over 100 games of AFL

Both Fremantle and West Coast had match sims today

So far we’ve had a tweet from Lachy Reid saying Yeo and Ginbey were rotating between midfield and half back and a newspaper report expressing surprise at an appearance by Jackson Nelson and some solid notes on players doing laps away from the match sim

Nothing from the club

The best info we’ve got is that series of tweets Nuffington Post just posted from a fan watching through the gates

Meanwhile, Fremantle have posted numerous photos, videos and descriptions on Twitter and there’s be updates from a number of journalists who’ve been watching

I’m not having a crack at our social media people because they’ve been pretty good this off season and I’m sure we’d see more from them if they were given license to do so

This is on the higher ups, starting with Nisbett, who have an obsession with secrecy. The contrast between the two clubs is massive
