Short as a mid will work a lot better now we've got a couple of bulls to feed it out to him.

He had some good games as a mid last year, but only when the rest of the engine room were doing their job because he ain't no contested beast.

Harder to find a place for him in the middle now. Wouldn't be surprised seeing him head back to his preferred role, main reason for the move originally was a lack of midfielders which has been sorted.

Had a few good games there but never looked completely comfortable. Was meant to provide silver service to the forwards but barely hit one on the chest all year even when getting it in plenty of space. Chalk and cheese compared to how assured he looks in the backline where he's just about AA calibre. Who knows what we end up doing but now that we're sorted in the middle I reckon he goes back to defence

Agree, especially with bolded part.
We cannot just have inside-contested-bulls, flexibility, versatility and variations will make us a very formidable midfield group.

Good problem to have. Vlaus has had injury issues last two years, hopefully has his body right but Baker is the perfect one to slot into that role if we're nursing him or he misses bulk games again

We're pretty versatile now. For inside mids Prestia Taranto Hopper all have a good balance between the grunt work and getting it and using it on the outside. Far from those contested bull types that are useless away from the contest

I think Bolton will be used in spells in midfield but will spend most of his time forward.

His game is suited getting it out the back and setting up behind the ball not ahead of it

Baker more suited to the role than Short. Can't be pounding too many square pegs into round holes.. I'd move him out of the backline and give him that role with Short moving back to defence

Still think there's a spot in the backline for a guy who was borderline AA last time he played a full season there

Needed more of that. I think he's almost better drilling a 50m bullet pass than hitting those 20m deft chips to a leading player

Yes, we were playing witches hats but this comment reminded me of the night of Shorty’s move to the midfield. Some of the inside 50 delivery was sublime.
