Are we back to regular quarters or are we still doing this seven quarter hogwash?

It's regular rules now.

The previous games weren't official matches and the clubs could set their agreed rules, but given there were AFL umpires officiating the game was under the code of conduct rules, subject to suspension etc

Bit surprised there's been no mention of a heat policy, given it's going to be hotter for this game than in previous years they've implemented it.

Johnson has moved ahead of erasmus

I reckon it is more a case that Johnson is ahead of Erasmus in terms of a forward flank role and in terms of potential outs from the best 22 for injury (Walters, Frederick) there might be a need for a forward flank. If one of Brayshaw, Brodie or Serong was a significant injury query I think they would be running with Erasmus instead.

Yep good call. I actually thought Erasmus played better but Johnson did look more busy and dangerous going i50.

It'll be cooler in the late afternoon and in Freo, especially if there's a seabreeze.
Can confirm. Was down in Freo yesterday on official Moderator business, and it was noticeably cooler around 4:30pm.

On further reflection from last week, I guess it tempers expectations somewhat. I've been expecting the team to improve from last year, despite player losses being surprisingly high. I expected to see growth from:
  • Serong and Brayshaw as their bodies mature
  • Frederick as he develops more gamecraft and learns to string together the skills he obviously has
  • Fyfe as he applies himself to a forward role
  • Brodie as he builds a tank from playing a regular AFL game

However, on reflection, it may take a season for things to stick together properly. So perhaps not. And perhaps this is just another false dawn from a Freo point of view. Oh well.

When will Noddy be playing in the Peel scratchie and will we get the stats?
Don’t reckon they do Peel intraclub scratchy stats. Given a fair chunk of the peel boys have regular jobs - prob a late Fri arvo or Sat morning game. Just an educated guess though. Doubt it would be at the same time as the Freo game.

Do we think all 26 play today? If I had to guess I'd say Johnson and Amiss are second half only with possibly Hamling second half too

Reidy may play a first half and then unleash Treacy as second ruck as Amiss comes on the ground?
Hamling probably named to have a conservative approach on Pearce who copped some knock last week.

And a lot a forwards named because spots are still up for graps and we are not sure on the right balance/lineup there.

Hey Dockerside, apologies for the intrusion. Just wanted to get a gauge on the side we're up against tonight.

Realistically we want to be tested as much as possible so our coach is either exposed, or we can see that we actually might be ok.

With Jackson out, is anyone else out? I'm hoping Darcy plays as he should smash Lycett and sound some warning bells into our coaches box which would be good.

It looks like we'll have Boak, Rioli and Finlayson out. So not far off full strength. A couple other depth players out of the mix, but those are the clear best 22's out.

Jackson, Ryan, Frederick, Walters the main outs.

Jackson, Ryan, Walters, Frederick and O'Driscoll would be the clear best 22's not playing today

On my way in. Come down if you want a shot at the champ before I make my way back to the Tongarosa.
