He's unique, makes stuff happen and is creative. He's also had low professionalism and injury hold him back. He's probably at the point where we lost faith in Dunny and Billings. It's all there for him if he wants it enough. Hopefully he makes himself undroppable.
Dunstan lacked skill. Billings lacked any sort of contest ability. Both hard to quickly turn around imo, it’s hard to recall many players doing so

Clark has both - just lacks a healthy body which can be quickly turned around as we saw with Wood and Crouch around the midpoints of their careers

I don’t think Clark will ever outperform his top 10 pick label, but if he can just become a reliable best 22 player that plays 23 games and can come around top 10-15 in the BnF of a finals-contending side, then I’ll be happy

I like Clark as a point of difference inside mid for us - but unless he gets his TOG up I think he'll struggle to keep his spot. His ability to get the ball out in a tight situation is very good and compliments the runners around him.

His abiity to get his hands on the ball in close are second to none, but his lack of mobility is what lets him down when he wins it. He is too often forced just to get a scrubby kick forward which is telling as his kick efficiency stats were well below average last year. When he has space he is a beautiful kick, but in close he doesnt have the game to get himself time. Thats the difference between the really good inside midfielders and the strugglers and IMO Cark remains one of the strugglers.

Based on what does he have low professionalism?
This would be indicative of not much but do you remember when Lethers and (maybe Ratts) did some streamed supporters q&a?
Hunter was interviewed during that and he mentioned how he couldn't run and looked off camera to someone and laughed. Professional footballer.
Should have moved the live stream out into the oval to watch him do 100 100s.
And I love Hunter. But there's no question he's been in a low performance environment almost all of his career and there'd be a few people that would suggest he hasn't minded it.

Wrong about Dunstan, he had skills but was a one way runner.

No basis to question his professionalism. Based on what I saw at training last and this pre Xmas training. He was in the pack for all the running and especially at the end, his fitness and aerobic condition is easily up to AFL standard.
He looked off camera, so he isn't professional? Not buying it.

Billings wasn't a contested beast, but he's was no worse than the likes of Byrnes, or a lot of other general outsidish mids.

2021 , Billings had 99 contested possessions and 19 clearances in 18 games for the Saints, while alleged ball winner Dow had 109 and 48 for the Blues in 17 games. Sure, Dow a little better but no-one ever claimed that Billings was ever going to be an inside ball winning star.

Agreed. Maybe you could question his first few pre seasons but def not the last 3 where he has been one of the standouts overall with running and match simulation.

What was Billos primary position? He wasn’t a mid was he? Wing?
Should have played him as a small fwd.
Couldn't kick goals. Played the game like a sissed cuckold. Shit the bed pretty much anytime he had the ball in his hands. Two good games in his career, and would pick up the pace a bit in contract years to get the usual suspects excited.
Glad he's gone.
Pure shite, and a career based on wasted potential and talent.
End of.

Very harsh.
Had a couple of very average coaches who did nobody any favours.
Jack played 171 games for the club. Highly doubt only 2 were good.
His misfortune was being compared to Bontempelli for his entire career.
“Pure shite” - really?

Being awful (and factually inaccurate) about him is just some people's way of coping about a decade old draft decision.
It's pathetic but just what happens unfortunately.

Billings was never a contested beast but most of what held him back was self belief and drive. He was easily dispirited and went into himself. He seemed perfectionistic. Neuroticism and injury ran him out of chances.

Well he was a pretty average player and he’s gone. It wasn’t all his fault but pro sports is about winners and losers and he was a face of the club while we were shit and wore a lot of hopes and blame. Tough gig but I don’t really care that he’s gone. A broom has gone through the place and taken away a lot of GOPs. It’s a good thing so far.

I agree but it's unnecessary to call him a squib. Apart from the fact that it's wrong it's just unnecessary.

Okay? None of that excuses some of the weirdly personal comments about him as a person and exaggerated criticism of his career that gets thrown his way because of his draft number.
