Happy Australia Day all!
It's a tricky one in many ways.
Can we change the past?
No.
Can we do better for our indigenous citizens?
Absolutely yes.
We have many thousands (or millions?) of citizens who became Australians on this day, so it means a lot to them.
Whether anyone chooses to celebrate it or not, we DO live in a wonderful country.

It's a good country for a lot of things. Not good for others. Sorry to bring balance. But happy Australia day! I still love it! Shitty though some of it is.

When you are from El Salvador, you quickly learn to appreciate what we have. i'm also half italian and they are surviving on breadcrumbs there. Any south or central American country is worth visiting for a balanced perspective. I appreciate this country and am eternally grateful to be able to live here.

I don’t know what part of Italy you come from , or when you visited last , I must say my friends and family are not surviving on breadcrumbs, living la dolce vita .

I'm grateful too. And appreciative. We won the lottery of life.

We don't have to be dumb though. The Finnish education system absolutely SH*Ts over ours. As just one example. Anyone who thinks otherwise ain't got no idea. When people say "best country in the world" I usually know they have been to Bali and maybe a Conbtoki tour across Europe. Whatever. A million Americans say "Best country in the world!" too. And Germans. And French. And they all share the same quality: narrow-mindedness.

I saw an orange-tinged fellow the other day say the US was the best and the greatest and was now in his (I mean its) Golden Age. Why would he lie? So we can be the second best

So what makes a country, the best country in the world? It's only natural when you live in a country that's free and has everything you could possibly want if you're prepared to earn it. Have you been to America, France and Germany?. If so, what's the problem with them?. They are all prosperous countries, why wouldn't the residents say they're the best country in the world. To call people narrow minded is very narrow minded. Australia has everything you could possibly want, what else would make it the best country in the world for you. A narrow minded person wouldn't live in a country that they didn't think was good for them. The choice can always be to go and make yourself a prosperous life in another country but I bet 90% would come back to Australia.
