his first 2 kicks were goals

he will be right

where was he playing
Bit worried about Judson, should be red hot pushing for a senior spot but failed to get near it in the VFL sim. The fact Steely Green seems to have gone past him, who most would've had well behind him last year, is a concern.

Exactly what I was telling some mates who couldn't catch the game. 1 to 2 goals per game is easily within reach and along with the work rate he brings he will have done his job in 2024.

I’ve been saying if we can get 25+goals from Kosi this season it’s would be a fairly good return

Balta and kosi seemed to understand each other well

Let’s see what happens when big sexy comes back

Surprised he played to be honest.

He’s missed most of the contact part of training due to issues with the shoulder he injured in the VFL at the back end of the year.

Starting from well behind this preseason.

His the one that worries me from that batch drafted together just seems to soft and doesn't get involved enough, but his been recovering from injures preseason correct ?.

Newman thoughts on some of our kids:

CHRIS NEWMAN ASSESSES SOME OF RICHMOND’S BRIGHT YOUNG PROSPECTS

THOMSON DOW
No. 21 pick Dow, now entering his fifth season: “He’s been really good. He has good lateral movement. He can win the ball, he is really clean and is dynamic and he can also get it outside. He has really good hands and he’s a great runner and he’s really diligent.”
KANE McAULIFFE
McAuliffe is a strong-bodied first year mid: “He’s really made an impression since he walked into the place. He’s built like a man. He’s a solid unit but he’a always got a note pad and pen and he’s feeding off not only the coaches but the older players. He’s one that’s really put his hand up. He had a bit of grunt and he’s a ball winner but he’s also got a good left foot and he will get an opportunity against Melbourne this week.”
SAM BANKS
The third year half back was a No.29 draft pick: “He’s a really good ball user and he has a high work ethic. He ca play wing and half back and he’s just a really diligent kid who can do a lot of damage. He has all the tools he needs to fulfil those roles.”
Third-year defender Tom Brown, a No.17 draft pick: “He plays in defence but he reads the game really well and he’s another good ball user. He has given himself every chance and he’s presented in great condition in the off-season which sets him up.”
TYLER SONSIE
The midfielder is a third-year No.28 pick who still needs to serve some of his suspension for a behind-play VFL strike: “ He’s an elite ball user and he’s just good at footy. IT sounds silly but he is creative with ball in hand and we feel like he has flexibility. He can do damage forward of centre as well as midfield and he’s had a taste of both this summer so hopefully when he gets back from suspension he can hit the ground running.”
SAMSON RYAN
Ruckman Samson Ryan has forced his way into the senior side: “He’s working with Ivan Maric really closely and all the rucks have done a lot of work on their actual craft. He works super hard and he is doing his aerial stuff with Ben Rutten. He recognises the importance of aerial dominance as a big guy so he’s got a lot of upside.”
TYLAR YOUNG
The second-year defender was outstanding on talls and smalls in 2023: “He is just super diligent and he’s trying to be hard to play on as well. He’s athletic for a big guy and I was surprised at the size of him but he moves really well.”
JAMES TREZISE
The mid-season pick made an impressive debut in round 24 against Port Adelaide: “He’s an intercept defender who gets from contest to contest. He’s cut his (long) hair so I didn’t recognise him but he’s a super kid and he’s got a lot of growth left in him.”

It’s interesting reading these comments seeing how surprised Newman was about these guys and the skills they have

Tells me that it’s not just the media who have underestimated our younger crop it’s our opponents as well

Another interesting thing from yesterday's game is that it was Melbourne's largest conceded score in any match (match simulation, official pre-season, H&A, or finals) since Round 3 of 2019. Melbourne's defence is normally quite miserly regardless of whether Oliver and Salem play. Good signs for us (we did it without Lynch or Dusty's influence), but I'd be a bit concerned if I was a Melbourne supporter. Are some of their players approaching the cliff this season?

Absolutely, they have a team that had the potential to win more then 1 but their "Culture which gets used far too many times now and has almost lost all meaning" is not where it should be eg: Oliver and their coach

As many expected, some great signs and excitement around quite a few. We wont be anywhere nearly as bad as many have predicted,

Backline still has plenty of experience, can the young talls stand up against quality - this is my only concern.
Dow and Hopper - They will regenerate the midfield and many posters will be left eating their words
Ross back into the guts? I like it. He now has inside and out weapons
Balta will kick 50 plus goals
Kozzy - 25+ is a huge win and really helps us hold structure
2-3 kids will stand up, Green, Sons, Brown etc - will change the team dynamic and give the older players new life.

He’s a bit behind the 8-ball after cracking a bone in his shoulder. I’ve heard it’s been causing him some issues .
I think he’ll be a good player, that left foot is a real weapon

Stevie Wonders report from the Age:

By contrast, Richmond appear revitalised. Balta dominated inside 50, his aerial strength creating chances for his small forwards. With Martin, Taranto, Prestia and Toby Nankervis sidelined, the Tigers tried Thomson Dow in the middle, while Sam Naismith and Samson Ryan rucked. Ryan was impressive and the other two were steady. Rhyan Mansell will have scans on Monday after hurting his ankle.

I though Samson was Ok as well, not sure why others dont feel the same? Max Gawn is a star and I thought he competed well TBH

Was mainly his marking that let him down imo

Was fine in the ruck apart from that first few mins of the game and that was against the best ruck in the comp

Alot harder for our kids to be noticed considering the success we had and the time frame into transition.
Vfl level it's hard too shine when your amongst with respect for the vfl boys part timers for a kinder word.

No issue getting done over by Gawn.
However he was like a new born giraffe 🦒.
Clumsy uncoordinated etc.
He was like that when drafted.
Seems too have stalled
