Haha seriously, who watched Collingwood just play and thought
'Yeah I can see Matty P slotting into that team nicely with his speed, hard running, precise kicking, around the ground defensive pressure, mobility, versatility and vision.'

One dimensional mids are finished. If theres 10 categories for evaluating a mid... Priddis would be 8-9 in maybe 3 areas and close to 0 in the rest.

Everytime he's in the middle, there's an inherrant imbalance.

Name one other current mid that can't play another position on the ground... not back pocket, not tagger, not even a defensive forward.

Usually the pocket players are guys not good enough to play in the middle... we have a mid not good enough to play in a pocket. What a joke.

Would have been more influential than Dale Thomas or Luke Ball... So yes...

Wholeheartedly agree

More influential in:
Turnovers
nothing posessions
slowest plodder on the ground
clangers

Any other midfielders 1 posession in a game has more hurt factor than Ploddus's 30 posessions combined.

What a joke. Look at their kicking ratios, look at their disposal efficiency. Look at the whole team. Did you see any players with 5k 25hb's 60% ?

And that's not to mention their defensive pressure, pressing/chasing abilities which Priddis doesn't have.

Outdated player that Malthouse wouldn't even have on the list, let alone play.

Sounds very similar to luke ball..

Yep, Luke Ball and Matt Priddis are pretty much the same player.

The reason why Ball was drafted and is so effective is because he frees up the likes of Swan and Pendlebury from having to do all the hard in-and-under work. Essentially his role is to win the ball and dish off to one of these elite midfielders (or a Thomas / Didak / Wellingham). This is the role Priddis should be playing, however, we don't have any elite midfielders in the side.

So as I've mentioned previously, once Priddis is pushed back in the pecking order and our midfielders develop and step up, he will be very valuable.

I'd certainly much rather Priddis winning the ball and dishing off to Masten, Shepherd or Shuey then them going in and dishing off.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

And yet the team performed magnificently when Ploddus was out, late in the year.

Hmmmm......

Difference between Ball & Ploddus, Ploddus has no creative bone in his body, none whatsoever.

I thought using Priddis stats to justify a position was for statstabaters and people who dont know anything about football. Or was that just for positive stats?

Your wrong by the way, his disposal efficiency is higher and his ratio is 1(kick) : 2(HB) so 30 posessions would be 10 kicks and 20 HB's.

Lol Luke Ball can actually hit targets by foot over 30 meters without taking 5 secs to line it up. That quality alone puts a gulf between him and Priddis.

He's far quicker and agile around packs. Can actually get himself into space hence his k/hb ratio. His creativity is far higher but there's no obvious stat for that.

That being said, Ball's still no more than good average player who plays a rotational role amongst 10 or so midfielders. Far less deficient than Priddis.

Except we lost those few games, and got smashed in the clearances.... LOL

So... We won 21% of our games with Priddus and lost 100% of our games without him.

We won clearences in three of our four wins and we won the clearences in 11 of our 19 games with Priddus.

Not allot changed in rounds 20, 21 and 22. We won the clearences once, drew once and lost once. We smashed Collingwood in the clearences earlier in the year and got spanked.

A simple question. Does Priddus Win us games?

Gary Ablett had 40 posessions at 80% efficiency, yet Geelong still lost. Mabye because its a team game and 1 player neither wins nor looses a game off his own boot? Plods does help us win games, which will be evident in the brownlow count.

No no. Your doing it wrong bodazoka. Priddis is the main man in midfield so its completely up to him how many times Lynch miffs a mark, or Schofield kicks direct to an opponent in front of goal.

Geez....

No, no they aren't.
You're right in that they play a similar role, it's just that Luke Ball is much, much better at the role.

if Matt Priddis played for geelong or collingwood you don't think he would be good?
it's hard to play the role he does in a bad side.

If Matt Priddis was a Geelong or Collinwood listed player he would be playing predominantly in the magoos. Simple.

Tell me which of those sides players would move aside so that "one position Priddis" could play his patented inside offensive mid role?
