Wolves is a shit name and it has nothing to do with Sydney.

Wolves V Swans doesn't sound right.

PIONEERS is a great name because it has a connection with Sydney and the whole captain Cook expedition thing. It's a bit like the New England PATRIOTS in the NFL because of the arrival into that area of America.

Plus we need to stay away from all the animal names we have in the AFL. We need more of those generic names like Dockers, Saints, Demons, Bombers, Power and Blues. TOO many Animals People!

You have to love the PIONEERS. No team in the world has it, so it would be really unique.

It's similiar to the New England Patriots in the NFL in a way. But the PIONEERS has so much to do with Sydney's history with the whole captain cook expidition pulling into the harbour thing, don't you agree.

It sounds great too, as well as not being another animal name for an AFL team.

It would be nice but the AFL really want to target West Sydney. Most people refer to clubs by their Location name. And two Sydney teams would just be confusing. Can you imagine to clubs called Melbourne or Bisbane.

The dockers is a good name i reckon. I just hope the West Sydney team get a decent name and not some crappy animal like the wolves.

Pioneers is stupid. For a start they arent the first AFL side in Sydney (not by nearly 30 years by the time they start), and Western Sydney is so full of "new australians" that they probably feel as put out by the "pioneers" name as aboriginies are.
