Or you could just get a different carriage to work on Mondays.

Myki confusion

Checking the balance of the card via a machine at the station and it says $36.

Interesting as I figured I'd be topping up the card by the end of the week.

Touched on and touched off 40 minutes later, balance on the reader after touching off was $16.

The next day go to check the balance on the ticketing machine at the station..... and again the balance said $36.

I topped up (just in case of more skulduggery) to $85. But I still went to the counter to get a human explanation, but all they could offer was a printout that contained info on the type of card and my last week's worth of touch on/off.

The only interesting thing on that was my last trip didn't touch off properly (even though the success beep occurred and that's where I saw the balance difference). Funny thing about that was I didn't think it touched on right (as I literally did it a second after another person's touch on).

When we were in Sydney earlier in the year we didn't need to get a Opal card ..their Myki.
You just use your Credit card.
On the phone it logged me out a few times I didn't wanna hold people up.
Opal send me email thinking I was ripping them off.
I just explained it logged me out a few times.

Cost about 2$ return from blue mt hotel to Wentworth falls .
Even tho there's no prober stop but we made it work.

One thing that shites me with Myki some gates won't open the card scanner all up the shite.

Here in se Asia I am continuously impressed with how clean and quiet the trains are subway are. Everyone’s respectful, people give up their seats for elderly and needy. No one is speaking loudly on their phones. It’s like a network of humans all on the same page.

Why aren’t our public transport systems the same or even partially similar?

Got sucker punched on th train on the way home from work.

Minding my own business, got on at Flinders Street and there were a group of teenagers, dunno around 17-20 years old. Really loud and swearing. Meh whatever, headphones on, bloke sitting next to me the same attitude and headphones on.

They started harassing other passengers who all moved, really having a go at a couple of ladies, calling them pretty nasty names, so the other guy ((in his 50s) and I took headphones off hoping nothing would escalate. They started lighting up ciggies and I yelled out" guys, put them out, we're on a ****ing train".

They took exception to that and three of them approached me "what's your problem fellow? You want to ****in go?!! I'm not black so that was odd, said no, just put the ****ing darts out" and stood up. Three surrounded me and one to my side just threw a punch to the side of my head. Hit me above the jaw but below the temple so a fairly useless punch, I just shook my head and said " really?? That's it?? Just **** off" one tried to push me but I moved into him and shoved him over a seat.

An undercover train cop starts running up the carriage (where have you been all this time?) Trying to detain them but they bolt.

Cops were called, had to get off at the next station with all other witnesses, gave a statement, during this, found out they'd been detained. Asked if I wanted to press charges, said no im really not injured, the punch was pretty ****ing weak, don't even have a mark, didn't need medical attention and truth be told I do box at a low amateur level ( had three fights of varying results) so I've taken plenty of hits to the head.

But now apparently I may need to go to court. Cops said they'd call me. Really can't be ****ed.

You did well, in the circumstances. I would go to court, kids need consequences, not another finger-wag. Just watch out for retribution/stalking/threats - if you get any, report them again.

I think I may have to go to court anyway to give evidence, not sure yet. But I'm not going to press charges, they're young stupid kids, I'm not looking for any financial recompense as I really haven't suffered anything nor out of cost for anything.

Apparently takes a few days for Metro to release it but yeah it will all be there along with all the witness statements. I didn't raise a fist, wasn't interest in a fight.
