An emotional 24-hours. A few of the old Tassie mates met for a few beers at the Arms at lunchtime. Just got home.

I tried to get a flight to Hobart on Friday but lucked out. I saw Brucey Doolan smack a ton against Pakistan at the NTCA ground. Then the Gillette Final at the TCA - remember bating G. Woods with the cry...."yes, no, not real sure?" We flew to Melbourne for the Boxing Day test one year, all wearing "tassie for the shield" t-shirts. I am sure the not-so-silent protest got us admittted. (not)

Then a few years later I was working in Devonport and ducked out to see our first shield win.

Now this. It's the pinnacle. And what a way to do it. Leading the competition, hosting the final and then a gutsy, gutsy effort to notch the first.

Watched the highlights this morning on Fox. All teary-eyed. Then went to the pub.

Missus not happy. But then again, she is a Blue.


Ps: is Alec Doolan, Bruce's son?
