12 man squads:
Justin Langer (c), Jo Angel, Ryan Campbell, Beau Casson, Ben Edmondson, Murray Goodwin, Kade Harvey, Michael Hussey, Scott Meuleman, Marcus North, Chris Rogers and Darren Wates (replaced Clark). John Taylor is on standby for Casson.

Steve Waugh (c), Dominic Thornely, Phil Jaques, Mark Waugh, Grant Lambert, Stuart Clark, Nathan Bracken, Greg Mail, Matthew Nicholson, Stuart MacGill, Nathan Pilon (replaced Haddin), and Aaron O'Brien.

Strangely, this is the last domestic game to be played in Perth for the season after the WACA moved their match against South Australia, scheduled for March, to October.

Well if Mark Waugh fails again in this match, then it might very well be his last match in competitive cricket.
As much chance of that happening as there is of Martyn, Lee and Bevan all missing the trip to Sri Lanka.

Warriors fast-bowler Michael Clark will not be available for the Pura Cup match against NSW after he strained a quadriceps muscle while batting against NSW in WA's ING Cup win last night.

We will struggle with Clarke not making it and Casson out.

Angel (big heart nonetheless), Wates, Edmonson, Taylor and Harvey is one pretty toothless attack.

I hope Jo can make it a big one on his last outing.

Going along alright. Huss and Rogers with Goodwin and North to come.

1/120

Would like to see WA score a little quicker though, with their batting lineup, they should be capable of scoring at at least 3.5 runs an over.

Anyway, go WA

Is Katich playing or has Cricinfo stuffed up again?

I guess he could have flown here this morning (2 flights arrived before the game started), but I would have thought he would have remained in the ODI squad, even if Hayden returned.

Good to see Rogers get another ton... hope he and Goodwin can each score big tons. Bad luck for Hussey to fall short (76).

WA 3/278 at stumps.

Should be all out for 370-400 tomorrow if one of North and Rogers fails to bat long into Day 2.

I don't think WA has enough sting in its bowling to severely trouble NSW, although 400-odd would prove a fairly formidable target.

Pretty evenly poised at this stage, and should get a result on day 4.

Pitch was meant to be a bit more lively (MacGill only bowled 8 overs in the day) than we've seen for the rest of the season.

The first 14 balls of the day were all let go. After 11 overs the WA bats only hit 24 deliveries. (bowling too wide) NSW did not make use of the conditions. Unfortunately for WA to get NSW out once we would need uncovered pitches and a downpour.

It hasn't rained for 25 days!!!

True, but they don't need to severely trouble them in order to stop NSW getting an outright win.

I've no doubt that WA would take a draw, not only would it be an excellent result for them, but it would also give them some satisfaction knowing that they've gone a long way to stopping NSW making the final.

Obviously they'd like to win it for Angel, but they'll take a draw happily (as indicated by their scoring rate).
