QAFA (A) - 2014 Season

Coomera cleaned up this comp last year, and I think they have a stronger team this year...

Caboolture would be the only sure win. PR thumped them in pre-season by over 10 goals. Should probably come back to this comp, although I hear they have gone hard at securing a decent coach for next season.

The real point to be made is, who gives a shit about cross conference results? It's irrelevant. The only one who bangs on about it is the guru of local footy QAFL Fan. If he doesn't think much of this league, who cares? The people involved with it love their footy and are proud of their clubs. This old twit doesn't even belong to one. Maybe instead of sharing your infinite wisdom across many forums, go volunteer at one of your superstar filled QAFA B sides and actually make a difference.

Agree having played last 2games with coomera, they were more then compeptive 1st year bare 2-3 games, got big wraps,
After playing in this comp for 7years now deffently think it's got weaker over the years, but that's just my opinion back too the beers

Wynnum's full, sorry

I never banged on about it sir, I made a few off the cuff comments and every person in love with their own patch blew up.

You are completely right, it is irrelevant. Yet you bring it up every time you make a post and continually reference back to it.

I follow all the leagues and enjoy them all, all the way from QAFL to QAFA B and most of them inbetween. Have done so for many years.

I've worked in football, coached, umpired, volunteered and played - I've given nearly as much to the game as I've taken. I don't have the health, or the time to volunteer at a club in a meaningful capacity. If I did, it would most likely be at the Roosters as they are closest to my home.

The only reason I took more of an interest in QAFA B this year compared to others, is because the undefeated team in that competiton played their home matches around the corner from my house on Friday nights, and that team also happened to contain guys I've watched play in the State League, Pineapple Hotel Cup and even the old Division 2 for the past decade, so I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I remember when I wanted the Lions to draft Jimmy Rozynski, I remember when Ed Mcdonald was drafted by St Kilda, I loved watching Scotty Gillett play when he was 20, and I still do. I remember Reid Dobson winning the State League Ressies medal and wondering why he wasn't playing 1's. To see these guys running around in QAFA B 300m from my door was very enjoyable.

Hay major your a great bloke and write some great crap come to the roosters preso night on sat and tell them how crap they r you ******* rabbit

Are you a little slow? These are the opinions of QAFL fan you buzzard. I was being SARCASTIC to make a point. Are you familiar with sarcasm?

I may as well chime in here, having played for Coomera over the past 5 years, including last years dual Grand Final appearances.

In terms of the difference in competitions, I would have to say that there is a major jump in QFA in both grades. Coomera 2014 v Coomera 2013 would be a very close contest. While we lost quality, we gained some too (I guess KP can put himself in that category ha ha). This includes a lot of younger kids coming through and standing up.

We pushed sides this year, and while we copped a couple of decent losses we still believe our quality of football improved. The difference is that tactics and structures that worked last year, needed to be a lot more polished and on some occasions, were in effective.

I have respect for all clubs in this league and while QFA is a step up, it's not out of the reach of any of the clubs in QAFA. It just takes a club with vision past winning and losing to make it work.

I'll have a dip , I played a game in qafa (b) this season and Craig and the boys out at jimboomba where fantastic. We played against Sandgate and they were 3rd I think , now without disrespecting anyone at all I'd say both teams would be around the carrara /beenleigh mark this season . And kp I agree to an extent I think the top 3 are as good as any have been it's the rest that drop off a bit . The 2011 buffs v the 2014 roosters would be a game for the ages.

Can someone on this forum confirm? Southern Suns already training (20 players the other night according to their FB page)and looking forward to 2015, My understanding was that the Suns was/is a merger between Logan and Beenleigh. A Facebook post from the Buffs this morning has said that there will be Beenleigh Buffaloes senior, ressies and 19s teams playing out of Dauth Park next year, and that the majority of Beenleigh people voted against the merger. Anyone in the know out there that can shed any light? Confused.

my understanding is:

- initially was to be a logan / beenleigh merge out of tansey park
- beenleigh members had to vote for the merger, a majority did not
- thus beenleigh are now not a part of the suns

not sure if there is an additional component to the creation of the suns other than just a renamed logan cobras. i'm also not sure what changed re beenleigh's ground as i had heard the cricket club wanted them off the ground, although that's about 17th hand so could be a chinese whispers situation there

This is correct. The Buffs will not be merging with Logan and will remain the Beenleigh Buffs.

Logan FC has closed down, and the SE Suns will open in their place. IMO due to the merger being voted against by Beenleigh people, the exercise wont work. You basically have Logan being renamed and you cant polish a pooh.

Thanks for the info gents yep that clears it up. Sad in a way because I thought the merge would be good for footy down south of the river, a more competitive team down this way but in reality nothing will change except the Cobras will wear a different uniform. IMO this decision will only hold both these teams back, although if they are both happy to stay back then fair enough that's their call.

What is the FB page called?

I've heard round the traps that qafl fan will be head coach. He wants to make them the best team in the world. He will be recruiting from lower divisions as they are better...

He also loves players from the magpies from 5-6 years ago. My mail says he hopes to take most of the woodsmen, get another 5 out of retirement and also get half of wynnum. But mainly Scott Gillet who is the best player in Qld, possibly Australia.
