Indeed TT. When you can potentially offer massive scholarships, etc you have a real pulling factor. Great to see big Rodger Merrett win an award tonight too for all the effort he still puts in.

Great weekend for the pirates club....
Both teams winning our first finals and showing the wheels on the bus are not falling off but still turning....
big congratulations to blocker and the committee for putting on a great day. ...
don't think anyone would of walked away with any complaints. ...good facilities. ..food and cold beer...
The Pirate burger still the best in town....When they sell over 200 they must be good....
finally no charge to get in and no ground Marshalls keeping kids off the ground.
Great to see kids and dad's of all ages kicking the footsteps at all breaks....
that's grassroots football..

How do the Suns stay put ? They are about to play off in their second straight granny, have just gone 16-0 and they will be only playing div 3. Do I see Aspley will be in div 2? With no Neafl ressies that side will be Aspley seconds.... This has holes everywhere
 
6th sense better get your facts right before commenting. Of course Aspley NEAFL listed players don't play in this side. Never have, never will. They didn't at qfa nth level obviously won't here. They are in the right division.
The only 2 anomalies that I can potentially see would be the suns not going up and Burleigh playing div 1 vs Kenmore in div 2. But the clincher is that bc of promotion/relegation then if a club feels they are too low then just win the premiership and move up! Happens all over the country side, not sure why it couldn't happen in the Se corner of qld?
The division 1 & 2 comps are ripping comps, did not hear one bad word about the structure last night but obviously didn't speak to everyone.

In the lower comps, like thommo said 6 team comps aren't great and whether they could combine the 2 bottom comps I don't know but at the end of the day there are many 6 team comps going around that manage

Personally think it's a great change from the previous thought bubble that said location was more important than competiveness..
 
And I think the "clubs potential" hat needs to be put on too in some cases. Coolangatta have been abhorrent for a few years now but have the basis of a really strong club in terms of facilities and catchment of players. Need to get a few things right obviously though. But if they are in a comp that is weaker than what they have been in then they could easily pick up quickly. Some clubs, if they are going okay but rely on finding 20 new players every year through recruitment may be hit and miss at the next level bc they are competing against like clubs for the same blokes. At least they have got away from calling some comps "amateur". That was a weak term when most of you blokes would know that even if not all, but some players would have, received payment to play. And rightly so if th club felt they could justify it.
 


why is park ridge going up and Logan Staying down. Very weird I wonder is Logan asked to stay into div 3?

At least it gives clubs in this Div a break form playing at a crap kids school ground
