Noosa any chance to beat Labrador?
Yeah definitely a chance Chris.Like most other teams have a few key outs namely freeman and moreso Templeton,Rogers still out and young Brain not allowed to play due to allies duties.Redlands far too good last week and reckon Labrador will be similar.Certainly hope not though!

Tipping '
Hey stuyd1: Cheers for doing the tipping.

Just an idea, may create more discussion and break up the congestion on the tipping; Heading towards finals, 8 teams still in the mix, fighting for ladder positions. Could a 'game of the round' be nominated and extra points awarded to successful tipsters? Game of the round worth 3 points, or getting it wrong worth a minus 1 or something? Too complicated?
.

Required,
good idea ...may I comment;
1; we introduce this next round or not to finals time/games .
2; Is the plus 3 points to much and loose 1 point to harsh .

Fellow tipsters , please put in your thoughts/opinions

This kicking the ball out of bounds delibertely is so many times awarded incorrectly by umpires its unreal.
Today there was one where a player was under immense pressure in a pacK like situation, where the ball fell into his hands and under pressure he got boot to ball ,,, that resulted in a off the side of the boot kick and for god sake the umpire awarded a free kick to the opposition for a deliberate kick out of bounds .
I mean FFS ,, SO BAD

On a rant tonite ,,, this rule where a player cannot move when you are on the mar
k
is so not wanted , and as it is a 50 metre penalty for infringement is just wrong .
Time the footy powers at be bring back the 25 metre penalty rule for minor infringements like this.

Because you have rules adjudicated by muppets that have never played

Yeah it’s not deliberate out of bounds anymore but insufficient intent to keep it in. Obviously a far more reaching interpretation.

I like the MoM rule. Is the single reason players are looking inside with their kicking now vs going up line. Hence greater scoring.

I agree that the Umps muck up both rules at times but generally get it right.

SMY,
agree , but if infringed it shouldnt be a 50 metre penalty,, thats a bit harsh, ..apply a 25 metre for this stuff

They shouldn't be calling insufficient intent if it's a genuine skill error, like a sprayed kick. But a pack clearing kick that dribbles over the line not near any teammates is different and should be called

Problem with reducing the penalty for one thing is it can be gamed. i.e. imagine a situation where a team late in a quarter gets a free kick 80m from goal. Do the defending team deliberately give away a 25m penalty to soak up seconds and allow defence to set up?

Watched BroadY defeat M/Dore today ,..The Roos played pretty well .
Cats had a strong side in but seemed to be flat .
See Morningside knock off Palm Beach !!
Not sure who PBC had put apart from Jones, but Morningside had 4 or 5 out so it was a massive win. Controlled the game from start to finish really.

Just on the scenario of GC Clubs being so strong not sure there is any easy fixes apart from another Brisbane team bowing out of competition and pliers defecting to other Brisbane Clubs may help, but it’s just all the hard work people and planning clubs have to do now on their lists.

Obviously Labrador have done that along with Noosa this year and Grange, Aspley and Redlands but some clubs just don’t have the resources, backing or funds to get anywhere near other clubs, that’s just the facts of the matter.

And if some clubs don’t have success in the short term it’s an even bigger fall behind the pack. Especially if you have convinced power brokers within the club to go all in and don’t deliver.

No I agree SGI - thats where understanding footy helps... :)

Any power broker who falls for that old chestnut needs to go back to doing their day job bc that is the exact reason why clubs go bust - completely. An ego maniac coach arrives on the doorstep, isn't interested in developing a list but far far easier buying a group of blokes from somewhere else. Win a premiership or 2, move on, take the plaudits and leave behind a train wreck.

Great win by Panthers in what has been a tough year for them.

Morningside form has been fairly steady since a few belting’s earlier in the year. Could have beaten both Palmy and Surfers at home which both were only a kick and they were right in game against Grange until last 10 minutes.

Hopefully the young blokes can hold their form through back end of year to finish year off in reasonable fashion.

Is there a QAFL rep game this year? Would be good to see how the competition would line up against a Tassie or even SANFL side now we have good level of former AFL players and some handy players from down south.

Rep games - Interesting that the boys on good money find an excuse not to play for fear of injury. There was a situation a few years back that reigning premiers did not provide a player to Qld side. Its a huge effort to get all players motivated and miss a week off.

Has he been going okay?

The QAFL has seen some pretty good players over the years, recently retired and delisted players etc.

However, Jones is an elite level AFL player who would likely walk into the starting side of at least 15 of the current 18 AFL clubs at the peak of his powers who has stayed in AFL condition hoping the mandate will be lifted.

He has 5 consecutive top 10 b&f finishes and was in AA contention in recent seasons.

Yeah, he's going alright...

One thing for sure, he was absolutely magnificent against us!
