Pretty rough welcome to Div 1. Away against last year's top 2. But you'd think a few winnable games upcoming

Looking at the ressies scores depth may be an issue though

Hinterland have competed pretty well by the looks of it so no doubt should be pretty competitive for the year.

Bit of a surprise that Uni had quite a convincing win over Moreton by the looks of it.

Beenleigh in trouble maybe? Two heavy losses to start the season, albeit against two of the heavyweights of the comp back to back but not an ideal start for the grand finalists.

Watched the Mayne v Springwood game and that was unreal. Close all day and looked like Mayne were going to run away with it, 22 points up with 10 mins to play. Then it appeared that a switch was flicked for the Pumas as they went on a rampage and ended up winning by 22 points. Hell of a game to watch and looks as though we are in for a good season once again.

Caloundra have some top line players. They have the luxury when Watto isn’t overly influential they have Allison there to take over. From my observation he had at least 6 shots on goal kicked 2 absolute beauties in the 3rd Qtr when the game was in the balance.

I know their points are tight so will be interesting to see how they balance up when the season gets cracking

Allison class above. A 6”4 midfielder is very handy.
Yea #17 was very very good. Possibly hit a bit tired as game went on but class footballer.
Was a very good game to watch. Both sides play a good brand. Blues will win more than they lose if they can keep best 25 healthy

Can’t disagree with any of that. We obviously watched the same game haha

Some interesting results after round 3 now in this comp. Coorparoo with a comprehensive win against what I would imagine most would consider a contender in this comp in Caloundra. Coorparoo probably the early favourites and rightfully so.

Beenleigh now 0-3 after a grand final appearance last year makes for an interesting road ahead for them, having Caloundra and Coorparoo first two rounds obviously not easy but loss to UQ is a big one, wouldn’t be surprised if UQ grab a couple more scalps this season as they have always been a very dangerous team to play against.

Mayne with a resounding win against Hinterland which was probably much needed to avoid an 0-3 start after blowing their lead against Springwood late in the last game.

Springwood now 3-0 after a good win against Moreton bay, got off to a flying start and didn’t look back. Moreton came back hard in the 3rd qtr but couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Not sure what’s happened to their senior side of past few years. Kilworth Anderson etc.. have they gone to North shore?

Lost 2 topliners in Kilworth and Knight, but gained 3 pretty good players out of Doncaster in Mahon, Hovenden and Henden.

Gotta remember though, its a pretty big step up from D2 to D1 and they are at least competitive

Think Beenleigh lost quite a few players between seasons. Yeronga signed at least 3-4, and Mt gravatt and Sherwood grabbed a few as well.

Depth would get tested when blokes either drop down a division for whatever reason, and your better ones go and try their hand in the QAFL.

Coops do it well, as they have 6-10 QAFL standard blokes who seem very happy to stay where they are, which obviously points to them pushing in that direction

just had a peak at their team from the weekend. Have added Jono Macanawai and Saxon Crozier. Massive additions - both would play senior footy at every QAFL club there is, and be in the best 5 players in most teams in the bottom half of the ladder.

Spot on Miller re Beenleigh, unfortunately we have had a big turnover of players since last year, for a myriad of reasons. Some new blokes coming in but taking time to gel. Some good signs Saturday but didn't take our chances on the scoreboard, missed to many easy ones, but that's footy happens everywhere all the time.

And Ashcroft is a good player too, good credentials from the ACT, and Pfitzner and Walsh are very good players from Colts last year. Good depth too now with their ressies strong, completely different side to the UQ of the past few seasons.

Yep - they have added them plus a good couple of younger guys in the Collinson brothers
