That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. What happens when there are injurys etc, what happens when A kid gets a heat injury because they cant get enough water because only three players can swap out at a time ? These clowns have no idea what they are doing. Are these rules australia wide ?
With some of these decisions it could get worse.
Surely not but as they say.
Hold my beer.

I’d be surprised if all the politics for moving to everleigh and a hostile like take over in the whole new club thing and no juniors wasn’t planned a long time ago. I’d say someone or some people clearly wanted to move away from park ridge for a while now. And they had help with people from AFLQ who had the same mindset. Although wouldn’t surprise me if AFLQ just decided to go along with it without any planning or thinking.

With the women’s comps. My 2 cents would be any club that isn’t QAFLW should be a feeder club into QAFLW. And QAFLW should be the only the only comp that has a reserves side. Until we can grow a higher number of female participants in the lower divisions.
I’m a bit the other way after spending time at a qaflw club BP. I would have qaflw as the one team only comp so the reserve players filter out to Div 1 and 2 comps. Run a squad of 35 that players can be drawn from when required. In the same way neafl / vfl sides draw plAyer’s.
Appreciate disruptive for the lower Div sides but would make qaflw far better standard for training purposes and help numbers at Div 1/2 levels. There r many many girls in reserves footy who are no better than many Div 1 players.

Two on the bench is girls 13’s. 3 for 15 girls and 17’s. Boys haven’t changed I don’t think, might be wrong. No water carriers to encourage coaches to bring players off more so more kids get game time and they don’t leave their guns on the field the whole time. Bizarre rule and idea.
Silly logic if that’s the rationale. Just reduce the numbers on bench to 2. The good old days 😅

Feeder club. They ain’t making that change this season though. Mucking round with rubbish.

The 2 Coorparoo sides is a thing though. Ironic they need it because they have no colts yet it was Gibson that presided over the ridiculous decision to can them and now uses his influence to get his way.

You’d be filthy if you were at about 4 other clubs who have all been told no in the past.

If both Everleigh and Park Ridge are at high schools then what is the problem? Both sitting on nurseries and just get on with it. Aflq can’t legally deny park ridge.
Everleigh is a new facility next to a primary school but nothing to do with it apart from getting kids from there.

Just to set the record straight, I haven’t had a conversation with anyone at AFLQ re a second team, in fact I wasn’t even across it until after Xmas when I heard it off someone else. I’m not on Coops committee, rather my focus is supporting the QFA D1 & QAFLW programs. The guys who look after Friday night footy have led these discussions and I’m sure anyone at AFLQ would indicate that I’ve had zero involvement and zero influence, so to suggest otherwise is disingenuous. Happy to be criticised for any decisions that occurred on my watch at AFLQ, that comes with the territory! I hang my hat on the fact I was invested, cared, was visible and never shied away from a tough conversation. Some decisions we got right some we got wrong, that’s part and parcel of any role which I accepted. Cheers, Baz

What is you current opinion on a club getting two Friday teams, when others have been quickly knocked back in the past?

Hope your well Baz!

Hey Longy, going well, likewise I trust.

I don’t hide behind fact during my tenure for the strategic direction we were taking we didn’t support 2 teams. However, I’m not privy to their current strategic direction which appears to be somewhat different across senior and youth, so can’t comment much further without simply assuming. I do know Coops asked for 2 teams last year and were unsuccessful.

They'll have to field 4 x mens teams next year, so it kind of makes sense.

Then on the other hand, unless this 4th team is predominantly made up of Colts eligible players, or even more important, players Colts eligible in 2025, then it doesn't really make sense at all.

Being sold that they have to have it for colts for the prep for the leap to qafl so an exception.

How this is split in the club and only the jurisdiction of the 3rds is hard to believe then. To get it across the line it would have needed to be pushed from those heading up the transition.

There is no point anyone outside arguing or fighting anything. Whatever they approve will just happen, we might as well just except consistency and common sense won’t always prevail, and every two years they will change things back or to something new any way.
But I like complaining about everything because I’m a miserable old man!

I never said it was split, I simply said I wasn’t across it and those who manage Friday night footy were dealing with it, which includes key members of the committee, who no doubt are taking into account the bigger picture for the club moving forward. Maybe lose the unsubstantiated assertions.

Unsubstantiated assertions😂
Welcome to BigFooty

So a QAFL club in waiting leaves all the negotiating with AFLQ to secure a vital part of its license requirements to the crew operating their social Fri night offering?

Okaaaayyyyyyy!
