QFA Div 4&5

The uni teams are fine. They always will be.

That model you have stated Longy is exactly what is being looked at very closely right now. There was a survey put out to QAFLW clubs in Oct last year with the no reserves as one of the options - unfortunately self interest is always the strongest and all many clubs could see is losing bums on seats in the way of reserve players. Personally thought it was the best way forward and voted accordingly. I can't see why it wouldn't work in the mens scene as well. Like to hear an argument against though.
We would love for this to be the case SMY however I was categorically told a fortnight ago by AFLQ hierarchy that in order for Noosas Women to go up to Div 1 we must field two teams which will not happen.

So you’ll just keep thrashing everyone by 100 plus each week and go through undefeated again ?

Yea thats silly - unless of course they do reduce QAFLW to a single team and then finding 2 teams at Div 1 level will be a hell of a lot easier. Sounds like you could just say you have enough for 2 teams and then forfeit every other week as well......

Problem is if 2 go up and 2
Drop out. That's a 5 team comp unless someone steps up or drops back.

In youth footy 2 teams from the same club can be Div 1,2 or 3 with the 2nd team anything below the higher graded team. Seems to work okay. Not sure why it wouldn’t work in senior footy

There is no perfect system. I’m just sick of hearing that footy has to be seniors & ressies as the only delivery of our great game.
Maybe an open forum now we don’t have Covid with representatives from all Community Clubs so they can throw around ideas and come up with something that comes from stakeholders instead of Headquarters making decisions not knowing what is best interest of Clubs.

Saturday Footy is dwindling in numbers across all competitions and the standard especially in Ressies is going down hill whilst Friday Night numbers and Teams are going through the roof.

But this will get to a road block with ground space once womens footy starts pushing a Friday Night competition and juniors start playing more Fridays as well.

Maybe even Mid week or Thursday Night Footy could work, who knows. But it needs addressing as can’t just keep fumbling along the way it is now

How good to see Div4 sides from last year making the grade in Div3!! Pac Pines V Coorparoo Div3 South Grand Final and North Shore through to Div3 North Grand Final! Congratulations.

Looks like a couple of cracking games coming up this Friday night. Div 3 South GF as well as the Div 3 North Preliminary should be the stand outs! Good luck to all clubs involved.

Considering a few people on this forum doubted that they could compete with the existing Div 3 sides it has been a terrific effort by both clubs.

Really rate Nick Pearson as a coach and footy person. Think he should be coaching at a higher level.

I certainly felt that there was a huge gap last year and there was, but teams vary in quality so much from year to year trying to grade it was futile.

Morningside and Sherwood for example went backwards at a million miles an hour in 2023, as did Jimboomba. So your top 3 from the year before are exponentially worse than the year before.

Totally agree about Nick Pearson
Has the ability to create a genuine footy environment and allow input from his leadership group as well as people around him
His genuine passion for his players and having the playing group play for each other shows in his achievements since he started his journey as a coach
3rd final series in 3 years at Pac Pines and a Flag at Cararra in 2018 is testament to his coaching ability
I’m tipping Pac Pines in a hard Game that will be a good game to watch
