Hardwick has come up with another gem today. Apparently it was humid Friday night as per the following quote. "I think last week with the humidity in the game and 'Nank' being required to play 80 per cent [game time]"

Give me a break. When do the excuses stop. At least he didn't quote the dew this time (there was none)

It's ingrained in the fabric of that football club. Forever moaning and whinging, and it stems from the coach.
Watch Riewoldt, Lynch, Martin always cry to the umpires every game. Where do you think they learned it from?

Maybe he should relax and do some TikToks

I think the absence of Soldo did have a bigger impact than they probably envisaged pre-game, partly because like everyone they underestimated the Big O.

Apparently Lynch was 98% ready to go last week against Brisbane.

Who knows if it was sheer arrogance or just dumb management from the coaching staff at Richmond to keep him off. Surely a 80% fit Lynch would have offered more than Chol last game.
They and the bookies and most of the experts thought they could account for the Lions without Lynch.
Hardwick did mention that at this time of the year you only get one chance at a hamstring injury. So caution is understandable.
Hopefully the Saints or Port get over Richmond and we won't have to worry about them

OK - confess. Who is still watching the replay of this one? I’ve watched the game 4 times and the second quarter an additional couple of times.

Was considering it tonight for watch #2 haha

I just want to watch Rayners goal again. Watching it unfold live was something else. When he got the ball and ran forward between two Tigers, I just knew the big game player in Rayner was about to shine. I had never felt so confident of a goal and when he kicked it, I think the belief in all the crowd (and players) just skyrocketed. It was a huge moment.

What utter crap.

It was a beautiful still and DRY night game after an almost idyllic still and clear day in Brisbane.

Just like the night finals we played in the early noughties at the Gabba in mid to late September. Back then, our victims used to complain about the "heat"

This narrative about the "slippery " conditions at the Gabba is total Bullshit

I was there from 1999 to 2004....any mishandling and fumbling is due to the pressure cooker atmosphere of finals footy.

There was this Richmond supporter behind me last Friday night who spent the first two and a half quarters letting everyone know that everything that the Tigers did was "too easy" and that they were going to blow the "Bears" away when they were ready.

Until Clug kicked the sealer, Then he suddenly decided that the conditions were "very slippery" and not "fair"

As much as we like to pay out on Chris Scott, he also called out this "slippery cake of soap" at the Gabba stuff as rubbish a couple of weeks ago and accused the Vic media of "making stuff up"

He should know

He played his entire career in Brisbane as a Lion

I'm back after being banned by a Richmond moderator - didn't know they could ban you from the whole site but it seems they don't like being told they are ungrateful to Queenslanders and shouldn't go round saying the Lions only beat them because the competition is rigged for us to win the finals. Pat Rafter, Mick Fannig, Ash Barty we are used to humble champions - Richmond - not so much.

Hardwick could learn a lot from watching one of Fagan's pressers about humility in defeat.

Just went past Yeronga and the boys are there warming up for what looks like an intra club, all in good boisterous spirits as you'd expect, nothing to report other than that, didn't want to hang around peering through the fence and be mistaken for an opposition spy. Somebody did arrive in a late model Audi with tinted windows, if I had to guess probably Charlie, Lachie, Dad or Joe.

Really as much as I admire fages and think he has been an amazing addition to your football club all I see in his losing press conferences is a bloke at the mic shuffling papers And banging on how you won all all the metrics but somehow still got beaten by 7 goals
He is a great coach but is no different to Dimma or the other 16 coaches who sit down with the media after a loss

I personally didn't have any problem with Dimmas press conference.
Said quite clearly they were beaten by the better side, or Brisbane played better. He also came across putting the blame on ill discipline regarding the frees more than having a whinge at the umps .
With Fages , in a press conference, well he will always look at the positives in a game and focus on those. It seams to work.
Win or lose he will almost always say the other team are a good team and rattle off the games they have won or competed in.

It was really fitting that Rich got an easy goal at the start of the game after that BS decision of holding the ball a year ago and Riewoldt went back and kicked the first goal.

This is exactly what I said to my son the day after when we were discussing the game.

I'm not sure what you would call it?

"Pay back synchronicity"?

I find the Richmond fan view of Fages pressers so bizarre.

What do you expect him to say after a loss, something like "Our boys are shithouse and the Tigers own us completely and we are mentally weak against them. Also Lachie Neale only gets cheapies and doesn't hurt anyone, Charlie Cameron dives and Grimes definitely doesn't, and Mitch Robinson is an entitled flog who will be ritually beaten by the team for daring to dislike the might tigers."

pretty sure they thought they win by 40 without Lynch so no need.
interestingly Brisbane's price came in late, and at the line were only receiving 2.5 points at the start of the game. So whilst Richmond might of thought they would win by plenty, the bookies and the punters who backed the Lions in thought differently. As did I, with Lynch out I predicted Harris would dominate Chol and assist Lester on Riewoldt, and had a few bob on the Lions to win. I actually think we will meet them in the GF and they will be a completely different proposition.

Prestia said Brisbane “got MOST of their shots from frees and 50 metre penalties”..I think Fagan should bring this up if we meet them in the GF If even the players are saying it.

I say let them believe that. Believing it will mean they have no perception of reality and therefore no motivation to fix what gave rise to reality. Plays on our favor.

re-watched the game as mates still rabbiting on about all our goals from frees.
I saw the 2 from 50m they gave away
Tigers got a goal helped from a 50m from us
Dusty threw the ball for another goal they got.
Also complain about Big O in the back not paid in a ruck where Dusty's was. Cotchin got a free 2 seconds later.

Watching again a lot of throws do not get picked out.. More Tigers than us.
Also how many players get tackles both sides and drop the ball. Ump says fell out in tackle :(
Then they pay one 5 mins later.

Also we missed a few.. Linc went for a kick instead of a handball. So did Clugga when he missed.
The Lyons, Berry and Hipwood.. Should of got 1-2 of those
