I've seen Sky journos discussing the biases of the ABC and 'the left' unironically on more than one occasion. News outlets rarely advertise their biases.

There are plenty of Sky News journos/panelists and viewers who genuinely believe it's not right wing.
sammy newman pontificates the age and abc are so biased towards the left, and the herald sun....."i suppose are vaguely against dan andrews"

This is the sort of shit 'journalism' that annoys me. It's not biased or inflammatory and some people (me included) are actually interested in the content but there is no appetite for just reporting on a story any more.

A simple 'famous car up for sale' or 'famous car sold at auction for record price' would do, but they just have to clickbait it up and try and preempt what might happen. You see this with footy journalism all the time. No one wants to report that Jeremy Cameron has signed for Geelong or what the trade was, they want to report that he has WALKED OUT and throw darts at what a RECORD HAUL in a trade is going to be.

Here's a hard-hitting article I noticed today.

I've been going over the main page over the last week and every article has a buzzword attached to it. Here it is 'stitches' If I wanted to see these sort of posts, I'd head to Reddit.

In response to Scotland, when you see an article on a subject you are very keen on it's either blown out of proportion or completely inaccurate. Most of the F1 articles are utter garbage and the headlines are blown out of proportion.

I think part of the problem is a lot of sites are hidden behind paywalls now, which leaves left leaning ABC and other independent news sites.

Is the ABC really left leaning or has the pendulam shifted so far right that the centre looks way of to the left now

All news websites are shit

news.com.au is Murdoch owned, so is light entertainment news and is like a gateway website to other NewsCorp junk. Every now and then they might slip in a good word for Right wing politicians as well, just for a change.

Nine / Fairfax media is a leftist haven and is soft on Labor leaders. Lots of lottery win “stories” to act as gateway adverts.

Herald Sun is entertainment plus some Murdoch right wing (slightly soft to right wing), however, mostly sticks to local issues. Also has those lottery win stories, but less than Fairfax/Nine.

The Australian is a Fox News print version however, with proper journalistic standards (all bad news associated with Labor and all nice opinions for the Liberal party). Hence, all the Fox News type drivel is posted in “opinion” pieces by regular paid columnists. They don’t hide it though. After some initial headlines, those opinion pieces are all they have. Robert Golbettiesen is probably the best economic writer for a main newspaper in Australia. Avoid Janet, she keeps promoting gateway right wing types and pointing out left’s follies (and the leftist types do have them).

ABC news - just leftist dribble. Too much of Labor agenda written in news articles. Still, overall, a source for info, if you can avoid the “hints” and the “ slants” given to articles. They get vetted for political neutrality, so all this “slant” is hidden and obscured, making it worse.

So, that’s the Australian mediascape. No one’s great or bias free.

My reading habits now are:- Herald Sun, for local and footy news. CNN, BBC for some international news. Flick through The Australian’s headlines to see what the left wouldn’t report on. And flick through SMH/The Age to see where their leftist focus is and to also see the more depth on things not covered elsewhere. YouTube - lots of good stuff there (and also bad) if you can find them. AVOID SKY NEWS on YouTube. I think they’ve struck some kind of deal (I have no evidence), where they keep appearing in news feeds. Major Trump apologists and a Fox News wannabe.

Money news on 3AW (also as a podcast) is THE best value for money and unbiased financial news source in Australia. I highly recommend that one.

Also, news.google.com.au is a great tool for finding diversity in news. It allows you to filter out websites if you don’t want.

My point is that not a single website is the be-all / end all. One has to choose to read multiple sources to make sure of getting the full picture.

Alternatively, avoid serious news. It’s a time waste/focus waste to think what’s happening in the US/Europe. Focus on controllables.

Avoid cult indoctrination to the left, right or any other “cause”.

I am starting to do my own research now. Most of whats happening in the world can be found direct anyway. Most other news isnt worth finding.
