I have just finished reading the 2009 edition of The Prospectus, whilst holidaying in Bali.
I noticed that at least half the AFL clubs, dont play their new draftees much in the first 2 years.
EFC is one of the clubs who does tend to play players in their first two years and this leads to some unjustified criticism of a players rate of development.
Think of players like John Anthony, Garrick Ibbotson, Ben Warren who played little AFL footy in their first 2 years but now look like being good AFL players.
Do we as supporters have unrealistic expectations of the development of our young players ?

I don't think Jetta should be traded at the end of the year, I don't think Knights will even consider it. That said, we're currently low on players that we can trade/delist, with Atkinson, Williams and Nash looking like the only players that will be considered to delist.
Jetta will come under the microscope, but unless he does something serious, then he'll be here next year.
I ask you, who has contributed more, Gumbleton or Jetta (Yes, I am aware that you really can't compare the 2 as they are 2 different types of players).

Jetta has shown something. Myers nothing.
Myers is a big kid and should not have the physical issue that Jetta has. Players like Myers should adjust to the physicality a lot easier then Jetta similar to the way Selwood and Zeibell have.
Jetta has shown that he can kick at AFL level and has made some good decisions. Myers nothing yet.
I don't expect Myers to be a star at this stage. All I expect of him is to show me something that will suggest he can become a player. To date I am yet to see anything. His performances and under 18 highlights are not very encouraging.
Myers had a pretty consistent run in 2008.

My assumption is that that is the result of you not watching football matches.

Disagree. Jetta is a good decision maker. His strengths pre draft were his kicking and decision making. In junior games he even went into packs to get the ball on occasions.
He is too timid right now and doesn't have the belief that he is an AFL player. If anyone read today's Mx paper there was an article on players using hypnosis to eliminate negative thoughts. I think that would be beneficial to Jetta.
Everyone stop being impatient. I think at the end of next season it will be decision time for him to stay or go.
We would have been in the top 4 for the last 3 years on that expectation. Cyril Rioli is a freak. Adam Goodes is a 2 time Brownlow medallist and he took 2 years to only just show something.

His game against Fremantle last year was simply awesome.
I hope he does get more games and takes it to the next level, it would be great to see. Jetta was pick 18 in 2006 whereas Rioli was pick 12 in 2007, neither of which were super strong drafts. There isn't a great deal of difference in terms of pick #'s. Maybe Jetta would be a better at a Hawthorn or Geelong but there is no way he would get a game in any of the top sides at the moment. I just feel he is being overtaken rapidly by those who have come after him both internally (Zaharakis, Riemers etc.)and externally (Rioli and even Dick at Collingwood).
In the lead up to the draft it was a super draft.

I must admit I can't remember Jetta in the U/18 championships getting in and under at all. I remember the WA ruckman (Could've been Ryder or Luey?) at the time tapped it to him, and Jetta goaled from HF; that was a nice bit of play. Besides that, I only remember him getting the ball from handball receives and running free wide out onto the HF flanks. Played a fair bit of midfield in the U/18's, but it's a completely different ball-game now. Has no chance of becoming a midfielder, all we can hope for is an above average HF/FP. If he is half as good Leon Leon is now, I'll be satisfied.
I have seen some footage of Jetta in a WAFL senior game doing this more than once. I probably should have said rarely, but it has happened.

Ah huh, that explains it. Have only seen a reply or two of his form in the WAFL.
Highlights of the Freo game where Jetta was one of the best. Got this reading winners bay 13 post and I couldnt' help but notice Jetta's game and recall a bit of discussion about him.
