Umpiring Questionable Umpiring Decisions

Wow, McRae is a whinging sook when things don't go his way. Entitled much? Lucky he's not the coach of Freo, Richmond or Adelaide if he doesn't like copping a rough umpiring decision.

Did you listen to his press conference or do you just read headlines and assume the media is adequately reflecting his words?

He was asked "was that a free kick"

He said he didn't realise it was, but it probably must be to the letter of the law given it was given a free kick.

That's the story. Go and watch it before sounding off.

I like how Hoss calls Mcrae a whinging sook, then proceeds to have a sook about how Freo are hard done by.

I'm extremely relaxed. You seem a bit upset over the result. Great effort by Freo over an older, more experienced Pies team.

That was the worst Collingwood team we've put on the park in 2 and a half years. We lose 2 players during the game.
Freo could only manage a lucky umpire assisted draw against it on their home deck.
You must have very low expectations of your team to consider this a "great effort".

Time wasting?lmao

Time wasting is when the umpires are given an inordinate of time to bounce the ball.

Like a roll call, they're more concerned about whether a ruckmen is present or not.

No wonder fans are suspicious of umpires, it's the lack of consistency that people hate.

How is it time wasting when the clock is stopped ?
The timewasting rule does not depend on whether the clock is running or not. Eg if the ball goes through for a goal and a defender punches it over the fence in anger a free kick will often be paid again in front of goal for timewasting - this has happened numerous times at AFL level.

Umpire gave them warnings at previous stoppages. Enough is enough.
Warnings for what ? It’s not a rule to return the ball to the umpire.
Your be hard pressed to find anyone sitting at home watching thinking gee Sullivan is wasting time here. But anyways the game should have already been won.

I stand corrected - IQ didn't touch it, to his own admission. Looked absolutely touched on replay but it wasn't. There ya go!

The two contentious decisions were both accurate to the rules. Pies choked. Not much else to say.

If Quaynor says he didn’t touch it, I believe him.

7 posted a video of the incident earlier today. Did not look touched so I think it was a good call. Although the footage on Armchair Experts last night made it look like it was definitely touched. It’s weird.

The look on the umpires face says it all... He's annoyed that Sidebottom didn't return the ball, so he's looking to pay one later on.

The AFL makes the rules so technical, no wonder the fans are sick of the umpires. I think someone already posted the video of LDU not returning the ball to the umpire within the first 5 seconds of a game last year and getting penalised. This stuff happens all the time, but only really comes to attention in close matches.
Look closer Sidebottom never had the ball. The Freo player had it and it came out weirdly.

Don't know if this non decision has been brought up but it resulted in a goal to Richards. McCreey receives ball near boundary and runs 22 steps without taking a bounce and what appears to be at least 25 metres. Should have been a free kick to Dockers . Umpires are so inconsistent these days View attachment 1999901View attachment 1999902
Freo were robbed, should have won.

The rule has nothing to do with steps. It's 15 metres.

It doesn't matter what actually happened - it's just showing how the umpire feels a bit insulted in that incident which I'm sure had an influence on his later decision.
Agree he looks upset at Sidebottom, possibly because he thought he dropped the ball. I was just pointing out that he didn't even have it.

I reckon Crows fans would find the distance McCreery and Hill ran without bouncing hilarious. Add the amount of times Daicos threw the ball (enough times for even the commentators to call it out) and it probably balances out the Darcy free.

Anyway, I guess Pies fans only complain when it goes against them.

Rather poor example I would have thought. That would be marginally more than 15m at best.

What is needed is fewer free kicks, fewer umpires and the rules that the game was played under before they introduced AFLX as the basis for adjudicating the game.

Got ball around 4 metres from boundary. What is the distance between boundary on wing and centre square ? I would imagine 40 metres minimum. McCreery disposed of ball approx 10 metres from the square, so he has ran 25 metres without a bounce.

As I said 'marginal'.

I just don't have an agenda as you do here.

Perhaps McRae has to seek permission from Hoss before he makes any comment.
