I know I haven't been on the forum much lately and I have not been able to watch the game today but I'm very glad we won it. However a part of me gets a bit disappointed that a team capable of beating the Hawks twice in a season has done so badly at times. All we need is a bit of consistency...
And what will really irk me us finishing ninth. A nothing position.

Thoroughly enjoyable game, purely for the fact that we played exactly the type of footy I always wanted us to play. Hard as knuckles at the contested ball and relentless in pursuit of the opposition in defence. They were bouncing off of us instead of us off of them!

The ferocity and zero farks given point to an attitude adjustment. We didn't adjust our core strength in the last couple of weeks, that's impossible. Something clicked cognitively that adjusted our attitude across the playing group.

This brings up a massive temptation to dwell on what could have been for this season, but that'd be pointless and frustrating so I'll resist the temptation.

This coupled with the outstanding performances of Sam Gray, Ah Chee and Impey gives us a lot to look forward to in 2016. If these guys can add this type of production to that of our stars regularly then boy oh boy. Consistency will be crucial next year.

excellent effort all round, what I didn't see was a lot of was those desperate up and under kicks when we turn it over to unmarked opposition players coming out of defense, when we had the ball we had players running behind/next to them to receive in support. Paddys leaping and ruck work tonight was honest.
standouts for me, Robbie Gray, Sam Gray, Ryder, Monfries and Wingard.

Geez bitching and moaning on Hawks board laughable. Umpires are to blame, as are Port for throwing the ball etc.... And Gibson hit Wingard high but as he was first to the ball it's his own fault?

If he (Ah Chee) stands up the next 2 weeks I'm in favour of tearing up the one year deal we given him. Didn't like it at the time it's going to come back and bite us next season.
He's been the classic slow and carefully developed project player. He put his hand up at just the right time in the Maggies, just as sustained opportunity opened up with the Power. One year was right when we offered it and I agree maybe going straight to an extension isn't the worst idea but already we'd probably have to pay more. The other thing is he's one of a whole group of players that no-one knows exactly where they'll stand when we have Wines, Carlile, Polec etc back.
Good to have a problem of abundant, proven talent as the year finishes.

The emergence of Arch and Sammy Gray as quality midfielders will take a lot of pressure off the decision to unload our first draft pick on Dixon.
It may also mean that both of Moore and Young can now be used as trade bait.

Kudos to two blokes I have had a solid crack at this year, in Pittard and Jonas, that was definitely Jasper's best game for the club and I can't recall him making even one of his trademark Barry Crocker decisions, and TJ was back to his bullocking shut down best, a far cry from the fumbling, bumbling mess he was against the blue baggers, which was the game that up until last night had epitomised his season.

Kudos too to Kenny for showing some real emotion in the coache's box :cool:, the agro Kenny is a much better look than the arms folded, pursed lips, we're f***** again, cardboard cut out Kenny.

A few weeks ago if you said the Grays would have a combined 68 possessions the first response would have been that Sam Gray must have played well to get 18 possessions. ;)

34 possessions each, that was no between Russell Ebert and me we have 4 Magarey Medals performance. ;)

One bloke who hasn't been mentioned as much as he should have is Krak. He is a dead set gun footballer. Love his aggression, sublime kicking and has as good of composure as anyone in the game. His defensive stocks have really risen too, he just reads his oppo player so well and has the agility to match any opponent.

That stood out like dog's balls. Not one stuff up. And in the end they were having to man him up he was wreaking so much havoc on the opposition. If he wasn't best on he was up on the podium.

Now for Kenny to threaten to punch someone in the box (hardy ha pun intended :p). As RussellEbertHandball has suggested, maybe next year with Crazy Vossy and Belligerent Bassett alongside. :D

I've given him a couple of plugs mainly because he finally started running again. His reading of the play is superb and his skills can be otherworldly, he just glides around. But he is blisteringly quick and now he's using that asset his game is complete.

When he arrived at Port as a very skinny kid who couldn't run out of sight on a foggy night (the only guy he beat in distance running was Jon Giles) his skills were still amazing. The old timers (guys older than me!) compared his skills to Wanganeen's. It's a pity that he's taken so long to realise how good he is at this game and take it seriously but I'm glad it has happened and at Port.

Agreed. Is deceptively quick too, a couple of times last night he held his own against Rioli, Hill etc.....hope he can have a good preseason.

This.

I've actually felt he must be medicated this year.
Couldn't get to sleep last night - too pumped.
Port = all played well
Hawks = :)
Yeah, I can't remember being this jazzed by a minor round win... maybe only the first showdown.

I was seriously dreading a shellacking last night but for me, the feel good story for us this year is The Arch - how good is it!!
