  • Parker was bloody sensational.
  • Not sure what the forward line situation is now - White didn't play and doesn't sound like it was because of injury while Walsh alternated between back and forward and didn't play well at either end. Bombing long to 3 talls didn't really work, especially with no specialist crumbers at their feet.
  • Morton the anonymous man and if TDL is kept out of the side because he doesn't work hard enough off the ball then Morton must be placed in the same category.
  • Missed Ted and Marty down back, conceded some silly goals
  • Cunningham was impressive in patches, I'm just not sure if we can find a spot for him for Round 1. He's done well to get this far though. Suck on that GWS.
  • Not any clearer on the 2nd ruck, both Pyke and Seaby paled in comparison to Mumford's output.

Only seen snippets at work, will watch replay later, but geez, Parker is a ripper. Just quickly, what was the comparative strengths of the sides?

well said mate... :)

gotta play white over walsh, walsh is many many years away from understanding this great game...

malceski is back baby, did i say that already!! best kick in team by a mile

A few thoughts:

- Parker was brilliant. His days of wearing the green sub vest are long gone.

- Cunningham did some great things but also made a few bad mistakes. Very encouraging displays from him so far but I think a spot in round 1 is a bridge too far.

- Liked the games of Bird, Jude, Kennedy and, in particular, Jack. Looked like the Kieren of 2010 (hopefully his injury isn't serious at all, was icing his shin before half time so hopefully that is only precautionary).

- Sammy kicking 4 goals straight is a great sign. His hands were good as always and while a few of his set shots were a bit wayward, he must get some confidence from a good day in front of goal

- Liked Jetta's game for the most part despite continuing to blindly blaze away at times. Had 8 tackles which was easily the team high and looks to have built a much better tank. Just has to hit targets when he gets the ball but did that mostly tonight.

- Mumford was great whilst in the ruck while Seaby and Pyke were a bit meh but I thought Seaby was marginally better.

- LRT struggled on Ryder. Definitely missed Mattner and Teddy down back, though I thought Grundy did a pretty reasonable job. He and Shaw marshaled the troops well down back. Thought Malceski in the last quarter continued to show some improving signs as well.

- Morton was non-existent as was Rohan I thought though he did kick a couple

- Bombing long into a forward line just isn't going to work all year. Have to be a bit smarter with how we go forward.

Whenever he's back always seems to be when he does his knee... :(

In fact I remember it was my birthday last year that he did his knee haha which is why I remember when he did it.

According to Dwayne Russell, the team that Essendon started with is the team they're going with in Round 1. Not sure how true that is given De-wayne's propensity for talking crap.

We were missing ROK and Hanners through injury whilst we chose to rest White, Richards, Mattner and McGlynn. Mumford subbed out in the second half for Seaby (meaning Pyke played a full game which may gives a hint of who's ahead in the ruck pecking order). Jack went off injured late in the second quarter and I think Smith was the other guy subbed out as I don't recall him in the 2nd half.
