I'm extremely happy with this trade, pick 44 isn't a huge loss considering we picked up pick 39 from the Eagles. I still can't work out how Amon was worth pick 28, but as Ned Kelly once said, such is life.

Didn't we take Pat Garner @ pick 25? I know injuries cruelled his chances, but I'm not devastated at effectively swapping 28 for 39 in this year's draft in the scheme of things.

Can you imagine the uproar on this board if we had of traded that pick for someone equivalent to Buchanan?
He was beaten by Kane Johnson and came just in front of Troy Simmonds. That's how he managed to finish runner up.
Not angry about the acquisition of Amon, Voss obviously has plans for him. I would of thought passing on pick 39 from the Eagles may have been a bit more reasonable, however I'm sure they know what they are doing.

I repeat, he has no left side, zero periphieral vision, can't mind a man and simply kicks it long all the time.
He has no defensive side and makes terrible decisoins. Runs around in circles.
But, it all ok.Vossy will turn all that around in a few months!

Zac Dawson was deemed crap last year, seemed to do OK under a new club this year. He'll be fantastic at a club with a winning culture!
Your senior side improved dramatically when Rawlings took over. Conveniantly left out that detail. Pretty damn good for assistant coaches, when they were both seen as future senior coaches.
Back on topic, I'll be happy to trade 44 for Raines. Putting it in perspective, we're not going to get someone like Raines FOR pick 44, so it's a good deal, you would think. He has at least shown signs that he is capable of playing AFL, and right now that is more than we would of had with our third round pick.

I feel kinda sorry for the decent set of Richmond fans out there. There's two definite camps. The decent ones I speak of are generally pretty insightful, realistic, and unfortunately for them, mostly heartbroken at what's happened to their club over the last 20 years. The other mob, Exhibit A being a few posts above, are feral lunatics that dump loads of manure on footpaths & slag at coaches & players because they're too mentally stunted to deal with anguish in any constructive manner.
That said, I feel kinda sorry for Damien Hardwick too. Any kind of failure and it won't be long until he feels the bite of the same stupid vitriol from mentally stunted 'supporters'. If you're so happy to see the back of these people Sausage roll, why come onto an opposition board to admonish them? Shouldn't you be over on your own board pumping up the future now you've offloaded what you considered your dead weight? Smells like someone who couldn't stand to see more people that have left the club do well in another environment. Get off our board *******.

Yeh, finished a treat with four shocking losses and a win that Melbourne tried to lose for us. You conveniently ignore McCrea;s great job as development coach over the past three years. Why your club would want to poach two guys( coaches!) from us is unbelievable. Voss obviously couldn't get on with his other assistants.
What I find interesting, is that not one of you have actually addressed the specific deficencies I outlined in Raines game. Please read what I wrote and feel free to tell me his left side is good( LOL), that he has great peripheral vision( lmao!), that he makes good decisions and he is excelelnt at minding a man. NOT!! By the nd of the year blind freddy was getting a game at RIchmoind(refer SImmonds!), so Raines would have played in the worst side in history if he was any good. he Isn't. I heard all the same arguments about Fiora!
You are clinging to hope from a glimpse of form from over three years ago.

Why are you attacking your own club? No one here is claiming Raines will be the next Michael Voss, we are simply expressing our thoughts on what seems are pretty good trade, I bet you said the same things about Ottens. Does it matter what Mcrae did at Coburg? He's at the club to be Vossy's assistant and would not have been selected had he not been up to it. Also the reasons this seasons assistants departed have been well documented, feel free to read up on them and talk about it when you have a clue, until then you should probably keep your posts to a minimum as you come across as a supremely unintelligent person.

I watched him 2 years ago, he has some potential, Mal Michael was a scrouny injury prone full back and I think we did ok with him.
When you pick up players from other clubs its not about them being superstars, never is, thats why they have been let go. It is about believing they can fill a roll in the club they are going to.
In a weak draft we have risked a 3rd round pick because Voss believes he can fill a roll. If he doesn't, who cares.

What a collosal load of balls.Who knows what a guy under a new voice with new teammates and a new game plan could do? Hopefully with some dominant forwards to kick it to he'll fare better. Is it coincident he did better when Richardson provided a dominant focal point up forward? I don't know. We paid probably a bit more than necessary, but I doubt at that stage in the draft whether 16 places will really matter.
But anyone pretending to know the outcome of a trade is FOS. We'll see when we see. It's a gamble, but in light of pick 44, not a particularly huge one, don't you think. No, scratch that, I know the answer. There's Ray's and Fiora's and many in between.

Raines' deficiencies will be addressed by Brisbane coaching staff, not posters on a forum that you seem to desperately need to vindicate the belief you want to kid yourself into in thinking we overrate Raines and expect him to become a gun. We expect Voss to give him a crack, and what will be will be. I'd still maintain you're shit scared of the possibility of him showing up your crap club yet again by coming good.
