I notice from time to time that some posters have multiple teams from sports/leagues other than the AFL they they support in their sig.

I was wondering how closely you follow said teams/sports? I dont have any other teams/sports I follow like I do with Port, I have some interest in cricket in the summer and I watch the occasional game of rugby league if there is nothing else on TV but I dont really have a team in the NRL.

Hi ;)
So all the teams in my signature are ones I follow passionately, from football, soccer and gridiron. I do have others I keep an eye on from other leagues/sports but I don't have any emotional connection to them (the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Lyon etc.)

Good on ya!
Occasionally (especially on other boards) I see people that have teams from every sport, from aussie rules to wife carrying, in their sig and I think to myself how does anyone have the time/passion to follow that many sports/teams

PS To everyone reading if this is you I am not having a dig. I envy you I would love for my life to filled with a passion for different sports/teams.

I always figure how much you follow a team can be measured by how much it hurts when they lose. For me:

10 - Port
9 - Aston Villa
8
7 - Miami Dolphins, San Antonio Spurs
6
5
4 - LA Angels
3 - Chicago Blackhawks
2
1 - Adelaide sides like the 36ers, United, Strikers etc.

This scale is exponential. I'd be happy to see the Angels fold if it meant Port winning a flag.

Yeah it's a lot of effort to keep close and updated with all these, especially the overseas teams but regardless sport rules my life 😅

In terms of scale (thanks El_Scorcho)

10 - West Coast
9 - Liverpool
8
7
6 - West Perth
5
4 - Tennessee Titans / NY Jets
3
2 - Toronto Raptors
1 - other Perth sporting teams in sports I don’t care about (Basketball, Cricket, etc)

I saw something quite good on twitter a few months back that asked how you would allocate 100 “fandom points” across all the teams you supported. Thought it was a great excercise to figure out how much I followed/cared for all of my teams. I think it can fluctuate depending which teams are in season but I went with this:

Adelaide 37
Liverpool 24
Melbourne Victory 22
Green Bay Packers 7
San Antonio Spurs 7
NY Rangers 1
NY Mets 1
Panathinaikos 1

I’ll do the same
10 - Freo
9 - Australia (Cricket)
8 -
7 - Swan Districts
6 - OKC Thunder, Perth Wildcats
5 - WA (Cricket)
4 - Perth Scorchers
3
2 -
1 - Canberra Raiders (who I sorta half follow)

I quite like this, for me it's something like:

Collingwood 45% - go to pretty much every game I can.
Green Bay Packers 25% - Wake up early around 5 to watch some games. Definitely going to make the pilgrimage to Lambeau some day.
Australian Cricket 20% - If there's a game on the TV somewhere, you can bet I won't be moving my eyes for at least another hour.
Toronto Raptors 10% - Not as invested as some others on here probably, but I try to watch game highlights every now and then. Watched pretty much every game of the 2019 Playoffs though so I guess that makes me somewhat invested.

This is probably a better system, i'll have a go at this at some stage.

God this is tough, whenever I watch the games on TV or live they all go to 100 😂

22 Carlton
18 Panionios
17 Wellington Phoenix
13 Liverpool
12 Pittsburgh Steelers
12 Sturt
5 - Other soccer teams I keep my eye on from a distance (Lyon, Dortmund, Adelaide Olympic)
2 - Any leftover SA team from other sports that I don't care enough to stop supporting in favour for other teams e.g. Carlton or Wellington

10 - Gold Coast Suns
9 - Melbourne Stars
8
7
6 - Bushrangers/Spirit
5
4 - Storm, Vixens
3
2 - Maroons
1 - other Melb teams like SEM Phoenix, Western United

10 - Collingwood
9 - Liverpool
8
7
6 - Victory
5 - Renegades
4
3 - Storm, Melbourne United
2 - Milwaukee Bucks
1 - Any other teams (Barca, AEK, Greenbay packers, any other local teams)

10. Geelong Cats
9. Feyenoord
8. Arsenal
7. Port (My whole family supports port plus I'm originally from SA so I have a soft spot for them)
6. NBA (if I were to follow a team it would be Knicks but I really just follow the players more than the teams although basketball is my second favourite sport, behind soccer)
5. San Diego Padres
4. Aston Villa (I have family that were part of the creation of the club, but I don't really follow them too hard)
3. Miami Dolphins
2. Local teams ect.
1. Melbourne United, Melbourne Victory

I guess kind of in order…?

- Perth Glory (10/10)
- West Coast Eagles (10/10)
- AFC Bournemouth (9/10)
- Toronto Raptors (8/10)
- Western Warriors (8/10)
- Australian cricket team (8/10)
- Portuguese football team (8/10)
- Perth Scorchers (7/10)
- Perth Wildcats (7/10)
- Socceroos (7/10)
- Rockingham Flames (6/10)
- East Perth Royals (5/10)
- CS Maritimo (4/10)
- South Sydney Rabbitohs (4/10)

10 - Adelaide Crows
9
8 - LA Lakers, Australian basketball in major tournaments (olympics/world cup)
7 - Australian Cricket
6 -
5 -
4 - Vancouver Canucks
3 - Seattle Seahawks, Adelaide 36ers
2 - Adelaide based teams in sports I'm not overly invested in.
1 - Portland Trailblazers (more of a soft spot based on spending a bit of time in Portland, but already having a team).

I don't have a real interest in soccer yet, but I've been watching Ted Lasso recently and that's helping to draw me in somewhat. I guess I'm leaning towards Arsenal a bit but there's no strong connection there.

10 - Port Adelaide
9 -
8 -
7 - Australia at the Olympics (especially basketball), Aus Boomers
6 -
5 - Australia in cricket
4 - OKC Thunder, Melbourne Storm, Werribee Tigers
3 - Melbourne Renegades, Port Magpies
2 -
1 - Everything else (so Victory, Melb United)

Yeah... for someone who is “sports obsessed” I really don’t care beyond Port, honestly going up to 10 doesn’t illustrate how much more I care about Port than the rest. I guess percentage wise I care about Port 90% and the rest take up the other 10%.

Hawthorn - 17
Arizona Cardinals - 16
New York Yankees - 15
New York Knicks - 15
Sydney Roosters - 13
Aston Villa - 12
Melbourne Stars/Victoria Bushrangers - 7
New York Rangers - 5

So hard to put numbers so low though, as I put different amounts of interest in during each season.

For example, in May, my numbers would be more towards the AFL/NRL/NBA/NHL, whereas in October it would be more towards NFL/MLB/EPL.
