Oh right I missed the previous page. Ditto Gibbsy, I have the default Samsung background. Not a massive fan of photos for phone backgrounds but I like the sound of aCunningPlan's one. Can you send it to me mate?

Laptop background is a photo of the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto I took

Dude watching The Wire and Twin Peaks: The Return in the one year has ruined my TV viewing experience. Nothing else is going to come close. I've been trying to get into The Sopranos, I'm near the end of season 3 and it's really starting to click but even "the best written show ever" isn't matching The Wire.

Best scene in TV history

I was really undecided on how I felt about the return at the time but now some time has passed I think it was not really good. Tried to watch episode 8 (gottalight?) again the other day after thinking it was pretty great at the time but I couldn't get more than half way through it.

I also read the cage/bomb theory which made me really appreciate the story more but then I thought you could have wrapped that whole thing up in a movie length project or just like a 5 episode mini series at best.

Sopranos is really really good but not as good as the Wire.

This sort of shit is what I love about the Wire. The dialogue is always so great.

Parts of it were certainly grating, but there's something special about the fact that Lynch was given pretty much total creative free rein, especially after the mess that season 2 became after the network started meddling. I don't think we'll ever see anything as abstract as episode 8 on TV again, at least not in an unfunny comedy. One of these days I'll have the time to watch the 18 episodes back to back, to get the full 18 hour movie thing that Lynch was going for.

There's just never going to be a series like it. It was so ****ing weird and unconventional. I will almost certainly never watch it again.

On the other hand I watched the Twin Peaks finale the other day on a whim. Christ, Laura Palmer's doppelganger is terrifying. She's no BOB crawling over the couch towards the camera but still one of the most terrifying things I've seen.

Must watch FWWM again soon. It's probably my favourite film. Probably could have ditched a lot of the FBI stuff like the first half hour with Chris Isaac and Kiefer Sutherland but otherwise is such a disturbing and emotionally compelling fillum.

I finally watched the Missing Pieces the other day. It's a great companion to FWWM, which I haven't watched since the return started but, again if I ever had the time, I'd like to watch FWWM and the missing pieces back to back.

I got the original blu ray box set, found it for 30 bucks online, and first thing I did was watch the full Angelo Badalementi video (where the Oh, Angelo! thing comes from). He had this story that he was performing with Paul McCartney at a concert for the queen's birthday. Before they played, the queen came back stage and shook everyone's hand, and Paul asked if she was looking forward to their performance. She said that she couldn't stay to watch them play because Twin Peaks was on.

The latter is very open and green. I don’t have any other unis to compare it to but I couldn’t fault my time there
Just got back home from my interview there (eight sets of roadworks and four school zones on the bloody midland highway) and I am really impressed! Waurn Ponds is a beautiful modern campus with a great feel about it! A bit of a La Trobe Bundoora meets Monash Clayton feel, world class health facilities but aesthetically pleasing. I really hope I'm successful now, would be cool to spend my lunch breaks watching the cats go through their drills too.

I was doing some looking around for some inspiration for my FLO entry and came across this beauty. Too good not to share
