I’d be happy to see Gold Coast play finals. Don’t know why, but in terms of the two expansion clubs I’ve always been a much bigger fan of the Suns rather than the Giants.
That said, theres every chance North and Carlton will be bottom four. Not getting too carried away with them yet.
Incidentally, they’ve got their “home” game in Perth next week against Freo, followed by an away game the week after against West Coast. Anyone know if they’re just staying/training in Perth for the next couple of weeks?

I thought I might have read somewhere not long after the fixture was released that they would be staying in Perth for the week.
We are staying for the 2 weeks. If we are in the 8 when we return to the coast we will play finals and I will be there for it.

I don't know, but somehow the Commonwealth Games have lost their appeal and interest to myself and other Australians. I swear it used to be somewhat of a big deal but now it's just meh. Don't know what happened.

I used to equate it with the Olympics when I was a kid. Then I grew up and was capable of independent thought and realised it was nowhere near the same thing. Its good for “Straya!” types though seeing as we generally rake in the medals.

All I'm interested in is how we do in basketball. Without the Aussie NBA players like Simmons, Baynes, Mills, Ingles, Dellavedova, Maker, etc. who are all preparing for the NBA Playoffs we are naturally weaker, but we are playing against weaker countries. The NBL has just finished and Bogut is out of a club which means we should still have a relatively strong team that will win gold.

what are peoples thoughts on the gold coast comm games? personally i love them and i love the games. It is a shame that people dont give the games crediit and recognition because it is fantastic. i was at the opening ceremony the other night. i enjoyed myself but i do agree they should have added a little bit more of how australia was colinsed and maybe some waltzing matilda? I get the theory behind the ricky lee beach thing but maybe her singing walzing matilda on the beach may have been better....

The Commonwealth Games are basically the Mickey Mouse Olympics.
That being said, nothing to take away from the athletes, I’m sure their wins are some of the proudest moments of their lives. But, from the perspective of a spectator, I have no real interest in watching.

Be honest, had you even heard of Ricki-Lee before? If an Australian Idol contestant from 14 years ago was the best act they could find, I think that says a lot about the importance of the games.
