So I've been thinking........what would a FJGD footy team look like? Players, bench & coach.

I only played footy for interschool competitions in primary and high school because I couldn't do both soccer and footy on the weekends. When I played interschool, I was a left forward pocket but also played as a rover.

Used to play FP but couldn’t find the goals. I was one of the taller guys but the FF was massive and cherry picked goals. Moved to a new team and played full back. I don’t mean to brag but I was a big reason my team made the grand final last year and stayed in the game (ended up losing by 2 goals but we had way more scoring shots, bloody forwards!)

When I was in grade 6, my school played in an inter-school lightning premiership carnival. We had been smashed in every game, but in the last one we were just hanging on for most of the game, and then in the last quarter came home with a wet sail. I kicked a goal to put us in front with only seconds to spare. Unfortunately, we were clearly terrible defenders and conceded a goal immediately from the restart, condemning us to a winless tournament.

And just writing this now I realise just how similarly the Showdown played out last week. Damn.

In junior footy I played off the bench, only moving into the back/forward pocket for two quarters just because they were mandated to give everyone a go. Really just continually benching me until I quit, so I think you can safely stick me on the interchange.

Nobody had set positions, I just floated aimlessly around the forward line really. Probably a good indication as to why we went winless.

Poor fancyscum I used to be like that on my old team. Sad times. I played my 50th game but because it was in the finals they wanted the best lineup so I only played 2 quarters. I left shortly after, the pricks struggle to get a win without me now. Always asking for me to play up because they’re short on numbers. They’re off their chops if they think I’ll play up every week.
