I was a very naive young man straight out of a Christian Brothers Boys School. I think the only boobs I had seen were on page 3 of the Truth (beautifully named newspaper), Tom Thumb magazine or Man magazine. My dad worked at Festival Hall from early 60s to mid 70s so I got to see many acts free as the doormen would let family in. Amazing times because I saw many acts I would not have as a kid. Can still remember being gobsmacked by Slade. Best act I ever saw was Sammy Davis Jnr. Even as a teen he was just so impressive. Sherbet (I got it), Lobby Lloyd's Coloured Balls, Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band, Chain, Billy Thorpe were absolute faves, but best ever? Masters Apprentices.

Slade once did a show at the showgrounds in '73 witb Status Quo and Lindisfarne.
F*** there were alot of skinheads there. Sure there is some b&w footage on you-tube somwhere.
Saw the festival hall show. Must have been '74. Noddy and his tophat with those small round mirrors. Great when the single spotlight went on.
Dave Hill still drags around a version of them.

Preliminary final day 2015: followed the game over dodgy WiFi in the lobby of my hotel in Munich with a seething hangover, clad in lederhosen and North Melbourne footy socks. At the conclusion of the game I went to the 'fest and punched down several litres of fine Bavarian beer.

Preliminary final day 2016: went SUV and pram shopping, came home and mowed the lawn. At the conclusion of the game watched some Netflix, then went to bed and read a book.

A year is a long time in footy.

Just had a visit to the Giants board.

Their match day thread is 12 pages.

I had a gheez and the actual discussion during the match lasts 3 pages lmao.

I actually hated going to the footy the last couple of months this year.
It became more of a chore rather than a privilege.

Not sure if anyone else felt that way but by the time the delistings came, I've only ever felt that way towards the team in the back half of 2006 and 2009.

The injury rate wasn't acceptable considering the numbers we had out and the number of cooked players we had in.
And it's not an excuse considering the team playing off in the grand final copped it too.

I didn't hate going but the morbid atmosphere at the round 23 game was the bottom of the barrel we had been sinking into from mid-season. No spark. No tood. Big Screen saying "make some noise" at Etihad didn't even work.

8-9 overdue changes in the list. Anyone who wants out should be Made to walk the plank. Bring on 2017.

The delistings, the constant in game injuries, the talk of missing the 8, not being able to go up or down on the ladder and then the final prospect of a trip to Adelaide followed by a trip to Sydney.
It there was a participation award for just being there Id give it to North.

My hate was getting ready to go the Giants game. I grabbed my scarf and my membership and put them both around my neck, and proceeded to question if 2016 would mean anything to us. It meant shit. The GWS game will go down as the most deflating night since we lost to Richmond in 2009 and Boomer broke his elbow.

My only regret was that I took Scotts bullshit hook line and sinker.

I suppose I was over optimistic that we would get the injured back on time to do something.

Enjoyed the Pies and Saints win.

Radelaide trip....cant believe I went....but at least I can say I was at Boomers first and last game on my death bed.

Don't have high expectations for 2017 so will probably enjoy the wins more.

Will wait for the Draw before committing to the Membership level. Country fans get shafted with the draw...Twilight Sunday or Saturday to a lesser extent suck big time.

I've got on a VHS somewhere a rage I taped from about 20 years ago, there were a few songs from this footage and at the end the logo from this show was imposed over the entire screen while the band were still playing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTK_(TV_series)
Edit - could have been Melbourne, despite the rage description saying Sydney Showgrounds: http://sladestory.blogspot.com.au/1973/01/gtk-footage-73.html

Despite the fact I was still a few years from being born when this footage was take, the first sentence of that post makes me sound old.

 :drunk:

Anywho, I for one can't wait until we discuss the 'Yacht Rock'-related musical sub-genres of 'Elevator Rock' and 'Supermarket Rock'.

Off-season should just fly by.
Not to mention the sub-sub-genres of......

Supermarket Rock
Woolworths Rock
Coles Rock
Aldi Rock

and.....

Elevator Rock
Schindler Rock
Kone Rock
Otis Rock
