I am a great fan. I've got all their albums and most of Hall's and Oates' solo albums. Hall has 8 solo albums and Oates has put out 9.
I saw them live at Festival Hall in 1980 and they were terrific. Still one of the best concerts I've been to, with Charles DeChant wandering through the audience playing his saxophone solo in his powder blue suit and hat. With the spotlight following him he looked like he was glowing. Zoot from the Muppets was based on DeChant.
They are indeed the biggest selling duo ever.
As far as other duos go, Simon and Garfunkel are my favourites.
