Hi guys. How does this team look?....(be gentle with me:)) Salary cap left: $49,200.

Brendon Goddard, Heath Shaw, Corey Enright, Jack Grimes, Shaun McKernan, Matthew Buntine, Marty Clarke
Paul Bower, Jack Hombsch

Scott Pendlebury, Dane Swan, Marc Murphy, Adam Goodes, Stephen Coniglio, Nick Haynes
Sam Reid, Jaeger O'Meara

Aaron Sandilands, Trent West
Jonathan Giles, Orren Stephenson

Lance Franklin, Travis Cloke, David Zaharakis, Jonathan Brown, Adam Tomlinson, Alik Magin, Israel Folau
Ahmed Saad, Amos Frank

I know a bit of Colingwood love in there and some people might say Israel WTF!?
But he will play from round 1 and i think he will surprise many......but hey this is a rough, rough copy.
Amos Frank is extremely unlikely to play the first couple of rounds with Hawks playing Collingwood then Geelong. However Clarkson has said he is a chance to play senior games this year, might be a good downgrade later on.

As with all rookies, NAB Cup performances will be very telling.

My rough draft pre NAB cup.
Decided to go light on premiums in the backs to start, due to my lack of confidence in any of them barring Lids,Goddard and Enright

Goodes or Buddy is my other headache

Brendon Goddard, Brett Deledio, Corey Enright, Brian Lake, Marty Clarke, Tim Mohr, Steven Morris
Billie Smedts, Beau Wilkes

Gary Ablett jnr, Marc Murphy, Jobe Watson, Michael Barlow, Dayne Zorko, Dylan Shiel
Luke Brown, James McDonald

Nic Naitanui, Jonathan Giles
Josh Jenkins, Orren Stephenson

Nice team longy!

You could probably look for better balance and start 1 rookie in your forwards. Here you have all keepers and left little room in event that 1-2 others become the best fwd, e.g. Buddy, Rioli, or Cloke, You always need to save a space in event thy kill it over your keepers.

IN your mids you have Watson and Barlow. To me that is two risks on players who have been injured. I'd only plump for 1 or the other. But I do understand that gives you the value for your midfield.

Like your ruck and its PoD :thumbsu:

Your defence looks a little light on and could lose you quite a bit of points but can recognise you prefer the fwd keepers.

Overall, different and a good team.

I didn't see Goddard listed first up in DEF, so was thinking 'wtf!?'... kept going, saw Everitt... then K.Hunt

Scrap it all, and start again. Harsh, I'm sorry... but this team will get you nowhere really fast!

Brendon Goddard, Brett Deledio, Sam Fisher, Josh Drummond, Brian Lake, Matthew Buntine, Paul Bower

Rough team still needs some work, Would love opinions.

Interesting to see the spread of teams with or without Nick Riewoldt is about 50/50 - could be a real season definer that choice.
Each to his own but my call is still to get on him - there will be no repeat of 2011 for Roo. Higgo still reckons he's not touching him in 2012.. we'll see ey.

Waiting for preseason before deciding on NRoo....there's a large percentage of folk who think he's done.

Reasonably solid team,

I had similar range mids but couldnt go in without a reliable captains pick, "lock and load"

I think you lack this, also your rucks are obviously lacking, cant say Giles or the Big O will always be playing imo

Nah i agree! im still playing around at the moment! and looking at potential upgrades if all goes well in putting Deledio back into defence after rd13 bye and then having 2 upgrade premium spots in the middle for the likes of GAJ or Pendles/swan etc etc

As for Captain i like to not have the lock and load and have options and with Selwood/Montagna/thompson etc etc i have that!

Trying to find a nice combo for cover for the byes is making it a little difficult!

Rucks ill work on but i may try get a little cash out of Giles/Stephenson then upgrading to a premium to go along with Kreuz!

Not enough money! haha
Cheers mate!:thumbsu:

Have gone for a few bargains and cash cows in the hope they come off (Didak/McIntosh/Porps/Bower/Lake), particularly looking to make it solid around the park without haveing too many expensive mids.

Thoughts?

Was a definite for me. Great value for money. Will watch NAB Cup closely, but he'll no doubt be in there providing he doesn't get injured.

I think that i prefer the second one

Liked team 1's forwards and Jacobs over West, but liked team 2's midfield and defense....

Both have the extra money spent in different areas...

Agree on Jacobs over West sadly I don't have the cash.

Who do you think is a better 2ndr uck option out of: Trent West, Shaun Hampson, Ivan Maric(Bound for lots of game time), Hamish McIntosh(Would be McIntosh but they have Goldy now) or Tom Derickx(Risky)

Thanks.

I have thought about Maric myself, scored about 70 in the past 4 years...26 could do things, will definitely be Richmonds first ruck as they traded for him, if your going for a 2nd tier second ruck, i am goign Kreuzer at this stage then you will only be talking about 10-15 ppg really max

I would go Maric over West

Nothing hugely wrong with the team but for a number of reasons it is likely to fall short if you're gunning for overall ranking. On the plus side theres some uniqueness in the squad so if you nail the selections theres some upside there.
All depends on how well your second-tier premiums turn out. If they all improve a level you're laughing if not you'll do ok but struggle to make a real impact.
Defence and forwards are pretty standard. Still heavy on the midpricers and light on rookies which is obviously why you're short a super-premium or two.
Your overall midfield mix is where you fall behind the eight-ball.

The weak links area s follows
- Thomas as your leading mid. Nothing against Daisy but leaves your mids short on firepower. You need him to have a big season to set you up.
- James Kelly, at his age he is unlikely to find a new level. His current level is ok, but for using up a spot in your mids where you need to generate some big points he's a liability and will impede your final result.
- Varocoe's a bit of a roughie, in an awkward price range he has enoough ability to turn out the 95+ average you're going to need but he's a risk. Your other option is to downgrade Winders and to a rookie and upgrade Varcoe to a premium, makes your team to the more standard structure.

In short you'll need to burn a fair few trades to upgrade this team to a top 500-1000 level Kelly finds a previously unsuggested new level and both Varcoe and Daisy have blinders.
