Always interested to see which pies players make the grade in their supporters' teams. Beams is in plenty, but not in yours. Is there a reason other than salary cap? Can see you've gone for value picks all over the ground, and if they all work you could have trades to spare, but this almost seems greedy. The SC gods will never let it happen. I'd say pick your 4 (max) favs out of Roo, Brown, Dids, Hayes, Grimes, Barlow and Lake. Then even if only 3 out of those 4 return to previous form you've still probably saved a trade on all those burnt out SC cynics who'll tell you anyone who's ever been itchy should retire. If it were me, I'd go Roo, Brown, Barlow, and only due to bargain basement price Lake. The guns n rookies strategy should be adhered to as closely as possible, but I realise its tough when there's so many discount ex juggernaughts. In summary, don't get greedy. If it looks too good to be true...

Think you have 15 odd players out in round 12. You have a lot to manage to ensure it is not donut heaven in round 12. Good luck!

While I agree with you, I sleep easier at night knowing that my team isnt vanilla, and almost a carbon copy of the rest of the competitiors.
Having said that, you are more likely to get a higher overall with guns/rookies strategy ;)

No carbon copy here mate. Got my own strategy this year. Plus won't be posting team as it would probably be torn to pieces on here ;)

I had Beams in there, but elected to go with Goodes instead as I felt he has a bit more consistency.

And yeah hoping to get a few cash cows out of them haha, but no doubt will change before then. Will probably restructure the lower end of the backline no doubt.

Nice even spread of premiums and rookies. This side has nice potential.

I am toying with the idea of a 2 premium midfield, and former premiums returning to their best. What do you all think?

(Bolded players selected to stay all season, subject to injury etc) (Rookies will change I'm sure, depending on form)

Cash remaining: $17,400

B: GODDARD, DELEDIO, H.SHAW, SUCKLING, Lake, M.Clarke, Tomlinson
(Docherty, Wilkes)
Lake obviously a risk, will be watching his preseason closely. Clarke should score well in his return in Davis' old role, and I predict a bigger season for Suckling.

M: ABLETT, SWAN, Hoskin-Elliot, Morabito, Pffeifer, J.McDonald
(Kavanagh, Mitchell)
Ablett my perma-captain, Swan the only other premium. I will monitor Morabito and J.McDonald through the preseason, at their best will be very good cash cows. The other 4 rookie spots will change as NAB cup form, and round 1 selections are made.

R: GOLDSTEIN, MUMFORD
(Rowe, Stephenson)
Set and forget ruck division. Has MPP with the J.Roughead, and during the multi bye rounds will have 2 of those 3 available. Rowe and Stephenson the obvious rookies, but may change to Giles later on.

F: GOODES, FYFE, J.ROUGHEAD, N.RIEWOLDT, J.BROWN, Didak, Haynes
(Adams, Smedts)
Obviously some risks here. Biggest point here being selecting Roughead over Franklin. Roughy averaged 120 points per game between rounds 5-11 before his injury. He also has dual postion with ruck this year.
His comeback looks to be going well - link: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...sts-hawk-spirits/story-e6frf9jf-1226249391730
I predict that Nick Riewoldt will put some average form, injuries, and controversies behind him, and return to his best. He is too good to be down for long.
Big Jonathan Brown had two lengthy spells out of the game last year, both to horrific facial injuries. A fully fit Brown can average 90+ this year, and maybe more with natural improvement from Rockliff, Redden, Rich etc driving balls down his throat. Needs help up forward though, maybe Lisle can be that man?
Alan Didak is too cheap to pass up, is having a good preseason, and has potential to score 100+ average. At $336,100 I might take the chance.

I have tinkered with this too much already (damn SC addiction), and will continue to over the coming months.

Looking forward to any reply, constructive criticism and differing opinions are welcome. :thumbsu:

I think your fowardline is looking pretty risky with goodes age, fyfe has only peformed for 1 year at premium level, roughead's terriable injury last year,I think Riewoltds finshed and it might be the same with brown.

I like the midfield idea

Re: Rate my team

0/10, was going to be 1/10 but your blatant disregard for the existing thread that exists for this very purpose lost you a point.

Pederson, Tapscott, Carrazzo, Roughead, Clark, Ryder & Christiansen all terrible selections.

Re: Rate my team

Hey Swanfan,

Carazzo will probably be in and out of the Blues line up so would change him.

Pederson maybe in same risk boat. Rhys O'keefe wont get much of a game for the Blues.

Goddard, Deledio and Suckling nice selections. Round 13 byes will be a challenge - but most SC players face same issue somewhere. Clarke and smedts nice selections also.

I think you could do better than Ryder in the rucks while Leuey is a great selection

Ablett/Swan great for mids. I'd have fyfe in the fwd line rather than midfield.

Fwds need a bit of work but some ncie players in there. I would be looking for at least one more established star in your fwd line.

Ok....I've never been serious with SC but looking at it seriously this year...going for a team with younger players who will get some games.

DEF: Brian Lake, Matt Buntine, Chris Yarran, Shannon Hurn, Sean Dempster, Marty Clarke, Jason Gram, Jordan Lockyer, Tom Gilles
(Lake is a risky one..he has a damaging best but a poor worst...still tossing up whether to change Dempster and Gram.)

MID: Marc Murphy, Steve Conigilio, Josh P. Kennedy, Jake Melksham, Jared Polec, Jack Trengove, Chad Wingard, Dom Tyson
(Probs will make some changes...not the strongest mid)

RUCK: Todd Goldstein, Nic Natanui, Brent Renouf, Mike Pyke
(IMO a good ruck combo, TG and NN can both score, MP is taking is game to a new level.)

FWD: Lance Franklin, Michael Hurley, Pat Karnezis, John Butcher, Tommy Walsh, Keiren Harper, Dustin Martin, Hayden Crozier, Jonathan Patton
(Decent FWD line)

Remaining Salary Cap: $171,400

Not the best team I know...still have a long way to go. :)

Gee, i don't know where to start. Not being funny/a hole but are you serious?

Mid pricers galore, where are you going to drive cash from, how many trades will you need to turn them into prems/keepers?

Start again, sorry, be lucky if you break top 50k with that team.

Second time? As a moderator it is helpful to remind not just an offending poster, but all other posters of the standards we expect.

James McDonald, Tom Mitchell

Alright i went back to the drawing board and here's what i came up with:

TheAdrenlines Fanplanner squad in the Super Coach competition coached by hellnwheel. Salary cap left: $500.

Brendon Goddard, Brett Deledio, Chris Yarran, Brian Lake, Ben Stratton, Shaun McKernan, Karmichael Hunt
Marty Clarke, Steven Morris

Gary Ablett jnr, Dane Swan, Chris Judd, Jobe Watson, Shaun Atley, Claye Beams
Anthony Morabito, James McDonald

Aaron Sandilands, Jonathan Giles
Majak Daw, Orren Stephenson

Adam Goodes, Dustin Martin, Jordan Lewis, Alex Fasolo, Matthew Bate, Jason Porplyzia, Israel Folau
Tommy Walsh, Amos Frank

I am going to keep Hunt as i believe he should do well this year and get some time in the middle. Amos Frank and Folau might change for other cheap players that pop up in the NAB cup but Folua will play at the start of the year and positive things coming out of Waverley about Amos who might be an injury to Micheal Osbourne away from playing. Risk with Lake but could pay off, see how he is going closer to Round 1 but for now he's in. Jordan Lewis is a must for any team, really came of age in the Collingwood Hawks preliminary final and a bargain at 493k and in the forwards. Originally I had Mitch Clark with the thought he would be getting a lot of delivery and Scott Pendlebury but changed them for Goodes and Watson, think it is a better option as much as i want Pendlebury in my team. All feed back welcome.

Cheers

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, G. Broughton, M. Suckling, Z Touhy, L. Davis, B. Smedts (B. Wilkes, B. Mangan)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, M. Murphy, J. Selwood, D. Swan, C. Smith, D. Shiel (J. McDonald, T. Mitchell)
RUC: A. Sandilands, J. Giles (O. Stephenson, J. Witts)
FWD: L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, D. Martin, C. Sylvia, N. Riewoldt, A. Saad, T. Walsh (H. Crozier, T. Curran)
CASH LEFT: $19,900

Very early stages of planning for 2012 and no doubt many things will change between now and kickoff. Will closely monitor NAB cup for the rookies to be in the side but at first attempt i thinks its not looking to bad :) I rate Zac Touhy highly and he is my smoky for a big SC season ...
What do you think ?

Cheers

Very solid looking team there Penetrator. I really like the structure with a 4-4-1-5 spread of premiums. Midfield is extremely strong! Good luck with Touhy, you probably know better than most how he will go this year. But seems to be some love for him over on the Carlton boards. Sylvia an interesting choice also, could be a great POD pick.

A little too mid-priced for my liking. I think there may be rookies out there who can score the same as a few of your mid-pricers / second year players for much less money (e.g. Stratton, McKernan, Hunt, Atley, C. Beams, Fasolo, Bate). You might find it difficult to 'finish' your team with keepers (too many trades required, may not generate enough cash).

The ruck setup is gutsy and may prove effective.

You need to find a way to get Franklin into the forward line.

There are probably better options than Folau.

Porplyzia and Lake are potentially good picks. Trying to work out whether to include one / both of these two myself.

Good luck. :thumbsu:

A rough first go:

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, G. Broughton, B. Lake, M. Clarke, S. Morris (N. Blee, B. Wilkes)
MID: G. Ablett, D. Swan, J. Selwood, T. Greene, S. Clifton, D. Shiel (J. McDonald, T. Mitchell)
RUC: D. Cox, A. Sandilands (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: L. Franklin, A. Goodes, P. Chapman, N. Riewoldt, T. Adams, A. Saad, T. Walsh (D. Zorko, S. Rowe)
CASH LEFT: $157,300

- Could probably spend a bit of the cash leftover.
- Probably too many GWS players (bye issue).
- Unsure on Lake.
- Not sure whether to try to inlcude J. Brown and / or Porplyzia.
- No MPP links.

Any feedback would be appreciated.
