'Main man' your team looks ok. I would suggest having a look at your backline though as quite a few of them will have durability issues.

Very similar to what I considered but ultimately squibbed out for the four, or in your case 5, rookie midfield. In addition I want a mid cost player for the forward line as starting with a fully upgraded forward line eliminates the chance for any bargain pickups in the year for that period.

I think what you say makes sense. Overall I guess that most of the fallen star options are in the midfield, but there may be a must have in the forward line which my stategy eliminates, so thanks i think I will bring danger in and tweak it to have another mid keeper. Thanks

Interesting strategy, only downfall is that I think you might be missing out on too many points early in the season.

Dr Awkward I dont think that is the case, the value is just distributed differently than other teams, but the scoring potential is the same, and arguably better in that there are 5 starting rookies and low mids who could increase their value fast.

it seems more and more people are moving towards the five cheap mid-fielder setup. i likes it.

im not sold on Greenwood as a DT scorer yet.

Mattner and Malceski haven't let Kennelly get much ball in pre-season. he's cheap but i've gone off him at this point.

S.Fisher doesn't get the same freedom as he used to. not sure about him anymore. maybe H.Shaw at a similar price.

TDL hasn't been seen since the first NAB Cup game. may not be as ready to play as we thought he'd be.

i think ideally you'd pay a little less for your first two keeper mids (Swan + Bartel) and put some more money towards your 5th and maybe 6th defender. but if you're confident in those two defenders i don't see much wrong with the structure of your team.

who is B Mcauley? is he just someone bottom-priced?

Firstly I'm not sure how much money you have to spend?

Backs: Look a little weak. I would look at upgrading Mitch Brown to another premium. Personally I'm not sold on Gilbee at this stage.

Midfield: Some interesting choices. Goddard, Pavlich and Ladson can all be picked in other positions. I think with such a wealth of genuine premium midfielders to choose from i'd be selecting Goddard and Ladson as defenders and Pavlich as a forward if you are that sold on them.
Not sure how much value Cousins and Rich represent. Dustin Martyn should be a lock for any midfield. Look at downgrading someone for him to free up some cash.

Rucks: Rucks are fine. Personally i'm finding it hard to predict which way Kruezer will go this year being played in a different role.

Forwards: Higgins is always a risk with injury. J. Riewoldt wouldn't be a player I would consider personally. I would be looking at other players around his price range that represent better value or downgrading him to Rohan or another rookie to free up cash.

All in all I think you still have a bit of playing around with to do.

Thanks for the feedback. I've made a few changes based on your response. Some stuff I disagree with you on. Here's my current team with 61,700 left.

your backline has one legitimate keeper in Hodge. Drummond is not a great DT player and the rest are going to be at the bottom-end of keeper status even as a best case scenario. to me there's a lot of potential for your defence to go horribly wrong.

Doughty doesn't pose much value to me for a midfielder and Cousins isn't getting any younger.

Beams i think is one mid-priced midfielder too many. Martin/ Barlow/ Banner etc provide value that is impossible to look past in my opinion. there's potential for one or more of them to average reasonably close to Beams or Masten and for 200k+ less.

your forward line is fine, although i think it could do with a ROK or a Roo.

lastly your bench is pretty expensive, there's potentially 200-250k you could free up.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that Dennis Lane is injured at the moment. I would keep an eye on him to see if he plays next week before selecting him.

Given his injury history, I would also be hesitant on Gumbleton before seeing how he pulls up after this week's game.

Kerr generally gets the #1 tag each week. I would consider swapping him out for someone like Mark McVeigh (you'll need bench coverage for the first week though if you pick up McVeigh).

Team looks good mate......maybe a little too much $$'s on the bench in the backs, especially with Shepperd, could be wrong though!! In regards to Kreuzer i'd sit tight and see what's in store for him, he's looked pretty ordinary so far. Frawley and Pears could be a safe bet, they'll play but not exactly great DT material......difficult price range.......

Any thoughts on mine appreciated......

at a minimum.. not enough keepers in your team too many cash cow style players
