Ok I think I am starting to finally "settle" on my team. I still have 122K in the bank but just don't see where I can upgrade to any keepers....

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Ballantyne is a tad injured and I would upgrade Barry Hall to a Boomer Harvey type

Backs- Goddard, Enright, H. Shaw, Duffield, Goodwin, Hunt, Waters (Maguire, Silvagni)

Mids- Bartel, K. Cornes, Ball, Stanton, Martin, Barlow (Shuey, Banner)

Rucks- Sandilands, Hille (Warnock, Roughead)

Forwards- Riewoldt, O'Keefe, Hall, Pavlich, Gray, Ziebell, Rockcliff (Gumbleton, Podsiadly)

Unsure of Goodwin but I do like his slight uniqueness. Could trade him for someone slightly cheaper (Hodge, R.Shaw, Adcock?) and upgrade Stanton.
Gray to Tipett for DP?

Thoughts and comments?

Team seems pretty strong. I would only question selwood, watson and lecras. But apart from that its looking pretty good

ill be nice and let you know that palmer wont play until round 4-5 and even then wont be back to his best later in the year :( apart from bartel and possible cooney, your midfield needs a few more guaranteed high scorers. and michael barlow doesnt belong on the bench :)

Okay I think I'm finally happy with my team:

With a measley $300 remaining.

However I am having a few concerns

1. Rick Ladson starting (with Kennelly and Waters too). Due to lack of any great bench cover in defence, I think starting the 3 of them is a big risk. Whilst I am happy with Waters (provided he is named) and Kennelly, one (or perhaps 2 or 3) of them is likely to go down and then I'm in trouble.
However, there are no other options in defence that I like. Hunt is in the same boat as the three mentioned above, I think that Malceski may be in and out of the side and even if he does play he will not produce the same numbers as he did in the NAB with a full side playing, and Everitt not guaranteed best 22 and unsure about scoring potential.

Even if I were to free up some cash in other areas there are no other (more expensive) options in defence that I like. Gram has had a limited preseason, not sure if Hargrave will be as free as he was last year plus NAB numbers aren't too convincing and I think Shaw will just maintain his average of ~83 and I would prefer to have a keeper who will score a bit higher than that. No other options have really grabbed my attention.

So I plan to cross my fingers and toes and hope Ladson and Waters can stay on the park untill I can get rid of them before I have a heart attack.

2. Not having Hille is worrying me a bit, however despite what some may think I think Naitanui is going to tear it up, and with Sullivan being upgraded it makes me think there is some doubt over Cox, so if Cox doesn't play then Naitanui will be even better than I am asking from him. Downgrading Sandilands for Hille is an option, however I would not know what to do with the spare cash (don't like any other premium defenders). I am wishful that Hille's 97 last week was a fluke, and that he spends most of his time either in the forward line or on the bench. There is also a big chance he will get injured or need to be rested frequently.

So I have decided to pass on Hille, however I may live to regret it.

3. Starting Swan is bugging me a bit, as I would prefer to take a stab at who will be the Swan of this year (I think it could be Selwood, Stanton or Mitchell) however I am fairly confident Swan will be able to average at least around 110-115, so am happy to cop overpaying a little bit. Plus like I said before, there is nothing else I would use the extra money on.

4. I'm really happy with Goodes, however am mindful that he often does start the season slowly. However he's had a great preseason and I am happy to back myself as this should be a bit of a unique pick.
The only concern is that I am a bit nervous about missing out on the following forward options

Higgins - I recon he will be an absolute jet this year and want as many doggies in my team as possible, however I just can't do it due to his injury history. I really want to, but logic tells me I can't.

Gray - I think he will also be awesome this year, not as awesome as everyone thinks (bad handball to kick ratio, and goals contributed to nab numbers which may not always be the case), but awesome nonetheless (~85-90). However like Higgins, durbability is a major concern (also heard he hurt his hammy on the weekend) and at his price you would want him to be with you till round 22, and I can't bring myself to pick a keeper with injury concerns.

Dangerfield - Will also be great this year, however he has had some troubles with his knee this preseason and am worried he will be rested often as Adelaide will not want to risk him. I will be cut if he manages to play the first 8 games though.

Ballantyne - Also worried about injuries.

I am happy missing out on Pav and Brown and will back myself with passing on these popular picks.

5. Sandliands v Clark is also something I'm having trouble with, except I guess I'll just stick with the safer option in Sandilands. Then again, if Clark comes out with 120s like last year I will go mad.

6. I'm also a bit worried I don't have much cash left in the bank. While this is good as I am maximising my scoring potential by absorbing the salary cap, if Waters or Ladson stuff me around early and I want to trade up to a player worth $250,000 then that will be an issue.

7. Also a bit worried that my team is looking a bit conventional, except hopefully my trading will separate me from the pack.

8. I should also note that my bench is subject to change depending on where people are named when the teams are released.

There will be some things that others may think are bad moves, such as:

Ball - But I have looked into him enough and am confident on him lifting his average to ~100 which I am happy with. Also think the pies could be good this year.

Starting 3 rookies - I'm willing to take the risk, as I think that Trengove, Martin and Barlow will all be terrific this year. Perhaps average ~ 240 between them. However while I am happy with them, what I am concerned with is it leaves me with little bench cover as all other options are not guarenteed best 22.

However, I am happy with these decisions

Please everyone feel free to be as critical as you can, I look forward to reading some detailed and logical responses. :)

Good side. (I may be saying that because it's similar to mine though). I'd be iffy about Corey Enright though, and I can see Broughton plateauing, or even going backwards on last years form. But that's all I can find to criticise.

My team:

Backs: Goddard, Gram, Scotland, Hodge, Harbrow, Dempsey, Kennelly (Maguire, 77k)
Midfield: Bartel, Hayes, Stanton, Trengove, Martin, Barlow (Shuey, Bastinac)
Rucks: Kruezer, Hille (Warnock, Lobbe)
Forwards: Riewoldt, Goodes, Murphy, Gray, Tippet, Medhurst, Dangerfield (Gumbleton, Dennis-Lane)

15k left in the bank
