Ratten would look very week...

Last time I checked, people weren't locked up for a week for slashing in the street, why should it be the same in Brendan's situation, kicked out for a week? He didn't ask for camera's to bo be on him at all times.

Indecent exposure can be dealt in the courts. missing a game of football would be seen as a soft punishment.

It's tough situation.

Do play him because you want to be more competitive? Very feasible, infact he is very unlucky that it was caught on tape.

Or do you send a message to the whole playing group that Carlton doesn't put up with that sought of behavior no more? Short term pain for long term gain???
What you are forgetting is that we have already suspended Fev for indiscretions, suspended him, fined him, played him in the VFL, even played him at fullback. It changed nothing! There is no long term gain to punishing Fevola, only in trading him or having him wake up himself.

dare i say it would be 'piss' weak if he didn't suspend Fev?
How many weeks suspension did Didak get, for something that was a hundred times worse than having a leak in the street ??

If i was a Richmond supporter i would be hoping like hell that Fevola gets suspended, but i'm not, (thank god) and as a neutral observer i believe that suspending your star players is only penalising the whole team.
Fine him a lot, and drag him before the players .

Have him stay back after training an extra hour for the next week, with the rest of the leadership group flogging him on the track. Make him wear a dress while he is at it.

I'm not talking about changing Fev, I'm talking about the message to the rest of the Players on your list.

As said we have suspended Fev before, its not as though the message has gone away. I hardly think the whole player group are going to rise up against the club if another player is suspended for an indiscretion down the track when Fev missed out. They all know Fev has to be punished but if one doesn't work, try something different.

I'd punish every player on the list.... Make them hate fev for putting everyone through an extremely hard session at 4 am in the morning, make him regret that his mates are being punished to.
Make every Player know that if they do the same EVERYONE gets punished.

... thats what I'd do, but I'm not an AFL coach so it doesn't matter....

It's not the army and we don't want to destroy the unity in the club and we don't want another situation where the players hate the coach.

Not if you spell out the punishments well in advance... make the players aware of their action and the consequences they have.

If I know the consequences of my behavior will effect others around me not just me then I am a lot more carefully of my actions, I'm sure thats the case with most people.

Anyhow.. don't want to give you guy's anymore secrets. :D

It's no secret. Fev can not contain himself no matter what is on the line. Those doing the right thing should be rewarded not punished as they have no way of pulling Fev into line themselves.

if he doesn't suspend Fev IMO.

Ratten also has the Tanking issue over his head as well. That he replaced Pagan so that you guy's didn't win any more other matches??? Wether it's true or not doesn't matter, it's a perception that he must now live with.

So how do you change this perception of being a puppet....... you put your fist down and you suspend your top forward to show that you have strength as a coach and as a leader.

My view is that he will let Fev play...... and thus send a bad message to the hole club.
I hope I'm wrong for your sake, and the future of the Carlton football club.
.......collingwood did not suspend didak who had priors....they put in sanctions and he pulled his head in......oh shit just read it....your a richmond supporter.....funny that!

As much as it pains me to say it, I actually have to commend Collingwood with the way they handled the Didak incident.

Sorry about the spelling, I love the english language.

I actually do care, I want to play a FULL strength Carlton.

Ratten was instructed to coach a certain way last season, and that Pagan may well of pinched a couple of wins and ruined your plans came trade and draft time.

I'm not trolling and I'll leave after this post.

But Ratten needs to show he is fair Dinkum, up till now he hasn't. The fev situation is a perfect opportunity I would have thought to show the football world he is fair Dinkum.
.....what telling whitnall and lappin and co that there time is up and that they want to move forward with youngsters is not being fair-dinkum give us a break and f... off.

Your stinking backyard at punt road needs plenty of attention...so get down there and help your rotting place and stop annoying us with your dribble!

To be honest Fev needs to be disciplined for what he did.
Fev pissing on a window of a pub is disgraceful and really needs to be punished. Whether that punishment is a suspension or a fine, he needs it. He shouldn't be making matters worse for Carlton when they already have Libba on their back with the tanking debate.

ODN, I see this as potential for a win of sorts to Carlton.
Suspend Fev for 1 week only, with a further punishment suspended to try and offer some deterrent to any more indiscretions.

Carlton minus Fev should still start strong favourites against Richmond (no offence Tiges, but how is your midfield going to stop a 90% fit Judd, plus Stevens, Murphy, Carazzo, Gibbs etc.) The young guys on Carton's list get the message that no player is above suspension which hopefully ensures they all stay in line (the expectation & standards are set early in their careers).

Net result: a round 1 win, the youngsters have their expectation of professionalism set .... and hopefully something starts to sink into the skull of Fev as well.

......they suspended him for two matches last year.....and already before a ball is bounced for 2008 he has f..k.d up twice again......nothing will sink in me think!

just a thought, do you reckon it will make any difference that he was out with his partner/wife/whatever Alex? i know he souldn't be wizzing on the window of a place or be out at 4:30, but it might of been one last night out with the missus before the season starts. probably not but its worth a thought.

LOL I thought that's what Bay 13 is for.
Seriously if this happened to one of your players, I don't think that you would be too happy seeing a blues fan or anyone else for that matter come to the tigers board and hoe into that particular tigers player.

Unfortunately it probably makes it worse, as she has been credited with keeping him on the straight and narrow in the past. If she is out with him when he is misbehaving(we shouldn't have to be talking about fev as if he is a kid..shakes head:eek:) then any claim she can modify his behaviour goes out the window.

was he squatting when he pissed......maybe he learned that off her!

Thats it isn't it. Everyone keeps on citing Geelong, but forget the Collingwood example. We have a few options and it is our clubs business thank you very much;)

They have to get him off the grog though. For his own future when he finishes football as well. He just can't handle it and is very much at risk of at some time down the track becoming one of those ex-footballers who goes off the rails.
