I dont really care about her or her Olympics "performance" but suing a small comedy club seems petty.
I know this has been done to death on this forum, but honestly when I first saw her perform on TV at the Olympics I genuinely believed it was part of the Special Olympics. It was only when she blew up on social media that I realized she was masquerading as an Olympian.

Sort of can't stand this woman.

To those who get their news from tiktok or like Channel 9, this is what she did:

– Worked at a uni, pretending to be an 'academic'
– Realised that the next Olympics would be in France and include a breakdancing category
– She then saw that there was no actual direct and official organisation for breakdancing, and you need an authority for a sport for it to be able to be associated with the Australian Olympic Committee and therefore the International Olympic Committee
– But it's like having a governing body for the specific set of hand ball rules your school used for one year in 2010. it doesn't really exist
– Therefore, you can make your own
– So she did
– From there, she was not only able to appoint her husband as head of this committee, but to sort of hold dummy, fake qualifying events knowing no one else could or would show up
– So she was the sole participant
– And then she got the qualification to the Olympics
– They have then realised that this is an irrelevant sport, and she'd probably come in a middling position, so she's just going to be forgotten. like some dumb gymnast or pole vaulter or some moron who worked really hard and gets forgotten
– So she devised to be as bad as possible to be a hilarious 'haha sooo cool' meme
– But it was kinda shit
– So then she accused people of being sexist because... I dunno
– And now she's sued a tiny theatre company, with little grounds, whose proceeds were going to a womens shelter

Is she the shittest human we've produced since [inset yours here]?

I can't fault any of the points you have presented here. Raygun is a shitty human.

The funniest aspect out of all of this, is that she genuinely believes she is not only good but deserving of a spot at the Olympics.

I mean imagine that level of delusion, there are clearly mental health issues at play here.

A large portion of this blame has to be squarely directed at those that could have given her constructive criticism and told her from very early in her life she cannot breakdance whatsoever.

Every supporter knows at their Club a player that just wont make it at AFL level or is no good, its generally universal agreeance too. However these players at the very least can kick, mark and handball. Raygun is literally not even competent at basic skills of breakdancing.

She's harmless.

Probably gets a lot of verbal abuse and crap when she is out in public that we don't know about it.

Far more troubling and irritating Aussies to get annoyed over (Peter Dutton, Caleb 'virgin' Bond etc)

I got to admit that I'm impressed, for someone with what appears to be absolutely minimal athletic talent, she's managed to make herself the most memorable thing to come out of the Olympics to the point that we're still talking about her six months later. I can remember no single other thing about the games yet a day does not go by where I don't seem to hear something about Raygun

That is lowkey genius and it's hard to hate anything about it. I mean if the IOC were going to have some bullshit like breakdancing of all things in the Olympics then they were asking for this level of shithousery to go down. They were practically begging for it.

Sometimes the oddball things are what we remember, like Steven Bradbury and Eddie the Eagle. Or controversies - like the opening ceremony Last Supper, whether the Seine was fit to swim in, two women boxers who won gold medals after previously failing sex verification tests. I remember a couple of mad events. There was one in the velodrome involving a mixture of mopeds and bicycles. I was amazed at the speed climbing.

It wasn't shithousery on her part. She was just shit at breakdancing. She made a fool of herself in front of the whole world. The only reason we are still hearing about her is that someone organised a stage show to take the piss out of her and she took legal action to stop it.

I was all about it and was on board Team Raygun, especially when all the pundits and Boomers were getting hysterical about how she'd disgraced the green and gold. But then she's made the (probably fatal) error for someone in her position, who's famous because they're comic relief: she took herself too seriously. If she displayed a thicker skin and an ability to laugh at herself, she could have gone a long way.

She took the Tom Browne path, when she should have followed Robbo's lead.

I love how simple concepts like, 'if you represent your country and are doing so on the taxpayers' money, you should try your hardest' is dismissed as a 'boomer' thing.

Yeah Raygun, give me my 2 cents back.

She capitalised on the ridiculous decision to make breakdancing an Olympic sport and her performance was about the most entertaining thing I saw at the Olympics. For me, her Olympics routine encapsulates the pisstaking larrikanism that is at the core of Australian humour. Roy and HG would have loved it. But she copped more hate for it than she would have if she'd won gold and then been stripped of her win for failing the drug test.

I was absolutely fine with her, until she bizarrely started taking herself a bit too seriously.

If you want to see just how seriously she takes herself try reading her paper on "Deterritorializing gender" in breakdancing, if you make it through more than the abstract I'll owe you a coke.

Unintentional comedy can be some of the best comedy.

I think Pakenhamsaint summed it up quite well: whatever her initial intentions were, the best course she could have taken over the past 4-6 months was to laugh along with the good natured digs coming her way and not give oxygen to the more hateful stuff. I reckon she would have come out smelling roses.

Have you got a link?

Good luck, it's quite rhizomatic, you will probably need to undertake some analytic autoetthnography if you want to deterritorialize any gender performative modes

I think my first car was rhizomatic

After the performance you had people in the media saying she would be worth a lot in advertising $$$. Surely you would just roll with it, laugh at yourself, do ads for snickers etc and collect hundreds of thousands of dollars for passing go. Instead she has arced up about everything and everyone hates her. Her choice I guess, I know what I would have been doing.

Academia/'intellectualism' is such a crock of horseshit. some black dude with a boombox in the Bronx would struggle to comprehend that abstract. which is sort of against the point. I think.

Such a smug, smug face.
