Given the number of Budgie supporting mates I had come out of the woodwork and going full crow over the past 2-3 days, I'm going to milk this one for all it's worth.

Have we had a disappointing season? For sure. But the fact they could barely manage four goals against us with a full strength side definitely balances it out somewhat.:tearsofjoy:

Pos:
Triple digits against the witches hats
Sturt is a gun
Jackson is a freak
The matildas get to play the poms

Neg:
Didn't get the record win
We were lucky not to be 4 or 5 down in the first 15 mins
Erasmus was dodgy when he came on
I thought Erasmus was a positive!!
11 touches in just over a quarter, nice goal and some good tackles-what’s not to like?

Positives:
  • Schultz - Star, has kicked 13.4 over the last 4 weeks
  • Jackson continues to have zero matchup for him. Still only 21
  • Midfield dominant, ran unopposed all game
  • Amiss on track for 40ish for the season
  • Sturt building and delivering on his potential. 11 goals since his return and could be that 3rd Tall we've been lacking. Still only played 16 games...
  • 100pts
  • Looking forward to at least 2-3 years of Eagles being awful. Everytime I think they've hit rock bottom, they uncover several more layers!

Negatives:
  • First ten minutes, matched them in skills for the worse
  • Standard of umpiring (how many front on contact and holds not paid? Shocking week for the umps all around)
  • Ryan's played better games, probably the weakest of the back 6 this week
  • Set shot kicking, left a bit on the table (especially Walters with two odd misses by his standards)

Its fun to smash them by 100 obvs, by geez they are woeful.

They came out blazing, kicked a couple and all over us. We kick 3 goals and the white flag goes up and we just do training drills for the Port game from there.
To avoid "toxic positivity" (some of best your pessimism there Dockeroo) we still could have been A LOT better, even before it become a sleepwalk in the 3rd. The margin flattered WC's performance

He's turning into Connor Blakely v2.0. That's what's not to like.

At least he's still young though, and has time to sort out his deficiencies.

Johnson done enough for a RS nom? Or has some Victorian kid kicked a couple of goals from 15 disposals on debut this week?

21 disposals (5 contested)
67% efficiency
14 kicks
7 handballs
9 marks
5 tackles
5 intercept possessions
3 clearances
3 inside 50s
1 goal
1 behind
4 score involvements
13 pressure acts

Fair enough 😂😂
I think the season overall has just worn me out at this stage. It was a nice win and the extra percentage moving us above GC is a plus, just hope we can close the deal out now and finish the last 2 games strongly and consistently.
There is a lot of similarities between us to how Port Adelaide performed last year. We really ought to bounce upwards hard in 2024 - I swear there are literally no excuses if we are sitting at 2 wins and 5 losses by round 7 next year and heads should roll if that happens.

The ten min periods like we saw to open the game again today have destroyed our chances this season. The only difference today was that the eagles are horrific and couldn’t take advantage.
These complete black spots in performance have nothing to do with list management or available talent. It’s just coaching and mentality. We have GOT to get that fixed this summer.

Overall a great win today and loving that feeling of comfort and relaxation I’m getting as a dockers fan when Amiss and Sturt are lining up a set shot. Proper forwards. Long time since we have felt that luxury.

When I was playing around with the Ladder predictor to see how we could make it. I put in 100 point win v Eagles & 60 point v Hawks to fix our poor percentage. Pity we couldn't win the winnable games to make finals a reality 😪

I really really really want us to win our last two games. It doesnt matter what we paid for Jackson but by golly will it be nice to not have to listen all the screeching forever. We can legit finish above Essendon and I'm sure Parish is leaving. That pick can legit end up 9 or 10

Really enjoyed getting some bs calls go our way surrounded by a bunch of west coast fans. First away derby I’ve been to and it was great. A bit pissed they decided to do away with the joint medal winners. Hurn and Neale shared it a while ago, why couldn’t LJ and Schultz

Yeah you are right actually, Essendon play the pies and the Giants so I think they will be hammered in both. They are terrible at the moment. 4 percent is about 65 or 70 points - very bridgeable if we win both but a reasonable margin.
The hawks game for us is a lot tougher than it looked a month ago.

Finishing 13th is better than 12th from out POV for a fixture next year though, but I’m not convinced it makes a huge difference either.
We will still be playing brisbane twice next year 🙃

Don't agree, Neil will be much bigger and be able to physically dominate, Connor was not this kind of player.

Wagner has been a great find this season. Always a place for a guy who can kick the footy well. He reminds me a bit of Caleb Daniel at times and Adam Saad at other times.

A lot to like and great to just sit back on a Saturday night and enjoy a good old fashioned shellacking of the Budgies.

Great to see Shultz back in form. I was very hard on him for a few weeks but as I said at the time. At his best he handles the ball cleanly and takes his chances, when he's off he fumbles and with the pace of the game these days you simply can't fumble or double handle the ball, especially as a small forward with the micro seconds you get against the modern defensive setups. Tonight he handled the ball as clean as I've seen and his kicking was clinical. The one he roved off Jackson and dropped on the non-preferred in one movement was as good a crumbing, rovers goal as you'll see and the set shot he kicked from only just inside 50 sailed through easily. I don't think I've seen him kick the ball that far and he made it look easy. If only Switta could find some of his best too.

I'm a bit on the fence about Johnson & Erasmus though. MJ seems to have regressed a bit in terms of the cool head and good decision making he showed early in the piece. Some of his kicking was terrible.
Erasmus is good inside and has some qualities but there is way too much chook without a head about him when he's got time and space. I couldn't believe it when he passed that ball off when he was about 20M out. Screamed someone afraid to take the kick.
They both just look a level below what Brayshaw, Serong, Cerra and Young were putting out at the same stage. Cerra wasn't dominating but he never looked anything but composed and clean with his skills.
Still, plenty of time for both and they haven't had anything like the level of exposure to the level the above named players had had at this stage of their careers as we've had the luxury of building them in the WAFL. They both know how to find the ball and it takes longer for some players to feel at home out there. Henry is a prime example.

Kahuna and Freddy didn't cash in on the scoreboard but both had some good moments. JT has great hands taking marks up the ground but seems to grab at them inside 50. Freddy played wide as usual, it was just one of those nights when he didn't get used much going forward.

Young is a jet and I thought Clark was terrific. Jackson of course is on a level of his own. I think Jackson, Young and Serong is the best centre square setup we have.

And of course its great to see Sturty continuing to find himself at the level. I think his aerial game is the next piece of the puzzle. I genuinely believe he can be a Fritsch level medium forward.

I don't think Corbett is going to make it and I wasn't impressed by Worner. Early days for the latter but he's going to find chances hard to come by next year assuming we start the year with a mostly healthy list. Corbett just doesn't have any weapons and he's too slow in both moving and thinking.

Overall despite the opposition being so lame it was good to see how well we can play.

Personally I was off Wagner after gather round, but pleasantly surprised that he has hit form.
