Brisbane have been far far from impressive this season.

And they might suffer the same issue we had against the Saints.

I wonder if the hot weather V Freo affected us V Saints, and the Lions had to play WCE in very hot and shit conditions.

And a couple of Brisbane players have already spoken out this week about the stupidity of playing an early afternoon match at this time of year up in Brisbane

CatToTheFuture I was wondering when the stuff about Smith would come out.
Yeh, unfortunately looks like you were right.

If i were Bailey I'd be looking at Tyson's indiscretion last year and asking the question on the difference.

In any case, will be interesting to see how it pans out because the kid can play footy, and success hides sins

I mean if you're to believe the rumours, the assumption would be it's not Smiths first rodeo over the last few months.

Probably a case of a couple of warnings, and then a need to take a stand when it happens again.

Tyson, being what's believed to be his first offence as a Cat, probably did get off with that warning.

Only if it's all true of course.

Maybe the difference is the club is tightening up on indiscretions?

Of course.

Could see a rapid recovery from a calf strain this week

Where you going to play Mitch?not the ideal sub in my opinion.
Agree. He already looks like he is playing with oven mitts and roller skates on a good day, let alone in the wet…
However, most of our guys looked like they were playing with a bar of soap under the roof at docklands, so not looking forward to what happens on a wet Gabba against a team that has been training up there in those conditions for what must be weeks.
Still, l like going into these games as underdogs. That’s when we often get the job done.

Sorry, am I missing something? Is the 'evidence' for this seriously that easily the worst football pundit in the country (Sam McClure) asked some kind of question about this on his podcast? And that's the rumour? Or is there something else?

Well, calf injuries generally aren't a 1-week injury
Which is precisely why it seemed like a bizarre story to employ to explain his absence, if the rumours are actually true.

Just say his knee was slightly sore and you were holding him back to protect his season. That explains a week off far better than a supposed calf tweak.

And Blitz certainly doubled down on the rhetoric around the purported injury during his presser as well. So if they're playing ducks and drakes here, it's clearly an 'all in' strategy across the club.

Yes. Look it's early and we cant really match up form yet.
But when I look at our midfield and it's form so far. Up against the Brisbane midfield, I just think they'll control us.

Except an issue with your calf could be any one of a thousand things. Common sense says that could be (a) 'calf awareness', (b) a bit of tightness that they're taking seriously because of his long time out of the game, (c) severe muscle soreness from playing his first game at this level that they want to make sure he completely recovers from before loading again, and (d) on and on. I'll bet a medical professional could offer many more options. All of which would make perfect sense to take a week out for. None of which provide any reasonable reason for rumours like this.
