Ch 7 posted smith to miss rd2 (calf)
Not the worst result in the world, we need him fresh for Brisbane anyway.

Adds to the 'danger game' shadow cast across this match though, but we should still be getting it done.

Hope to see Clark or Clohesy get a full game at least. Could see us bringing in Ted and throwing Paddy back into the midfield.

Until this late out becomes a month for no apparent reason.

its about time we put some experience into the side

I saw someone on FB question how legit Ben is as a source - I couldn't help but laugh, as the Krock boys are probably better at letting folks know what's happening at the club, even more so than the info we get at times from the club

The Baz injury really exposes how thin we are in midfield. Everyone's been saying that we look better through that area than we did last season, and that's true....providing that both Holmes and Smith are available. If even one of them is missing than suddenly Holmes is shouldering way too much of a burden, especially now that Blicavs no longer seeming a viable option through there (given how bad he was as a mid last year) and Danger only able to play midfield in bursts. It's a good opportunity for Knevitt and Clark obviously, but as much as their development is important, they can't yet be trusted to get the job done, and they're inevitably going to have games where they get dominated by their opponents.

Do circumstances require that Stewart plays in the guts full-time while Baz is out of the side or do we continue to flick him around between mid and HBF throughout the game?

I expect when we miss one of Holmes and Smith, Danger will play more midfield minutes and/or Stewart will be closer to full time midfield. We got that template in the latter stages of 2024.

I don't think these core stoppage mixes are terrible:

Holmes, Stewart, Bowes
Holmes, Danger, Knevitt
Stewart, Bowes, Atkins
Danger, Stewart, Knevitt

Etc

Now I wouldn't want us to roll with:

Bowes, Atkins, Knevitt
Atkins, Knevitt, Clark

Too much. I don't think we will.

I think all this chatter about Bont is just a smokescreen to conceal our actual focus upon someone like Rowell, Butters or LDU. To have the footy world thinking we're all about Bontempelli while surreptitiously firming up the deal that ensures one of those prime movers lands at the Cattery would be pure Geelong.
I think he’s shit stirring.

Bulldogs’ fans will be apoplectic. Doubt they watch Scott’s press conferences. Their response to Baz joining us was OTT + they’re still super salty.

Most rucks will kill sdk in the ruck, it's not his wheelhouse. Still impacts
Still, SDK has good support at CBAs. Knevitt could get in, then we have Dempsey, Holmes, Baz, + Stewart with Atkins to spoil.

Also, SDK appeared to be moving around the ground more, last week. Perhaps I think that due to his handball goal assist/s + his goal.

We have Danger who could pop into CBAs.

I think we will need to get used to that. He is always a little anxious leading into games and therefore will be “uncertain” whether he can play. His standards are so high that he worries about normal soreness impacting what he can do…

I am very hopeful that this is just a bit of worry and the team encourages him to get out there and dominate again
I think it’s similar to SDK following that horrendous facial injury.

Said previously, Baz is comparable to GAJ, who was super aware of his body + would only play if 💯

Tonight probably yes although st kilda have a weak midfield their danger is their HBF runners like NWM and their small fwds not their mids. We will be stronger there once mannagh is back and Martin is in (as Martin in means we can throw miers or close up at stoppages).
