Do you guys think there's any chance of dropping Sam Day? I thought he was very poor on the weekend and his performance a week before was kind of lukewarm and a bit bi-polar. I know Peter Wright hasn't earned his spot, but would we be better off lining Cameron or Davis at CHF to allow Miller/Rosa to come in? Just a thought. I'm not sure if Grant has done enough to warrant a spot, but maybe he could be considered.
Day's first game was really good, not sure why everyone is so down on him. Had 9 contested possessions agaist freo and around 80% DE

Day didn't even kick a goal in a game where his side kicked 19 goals. This follows his lukewarm performance against Essendon where he did jack all for the first two quarters. Against Fremantle, he took one mark inside 50, and had only two marks for the entire match. Jack Martin had almost six times as many marks and is 10cm shorter. His ruckwork was horrible. His opponent Michael Johnson collected 17 disposals and really hurt us on the rebound. He failed literally every checkmark a key forward could possibly fail. Don't tell me that was a decent performance by him.

Day is doing his job IMO. He set up several goals that I saw against Freo.

Matera will come out for Miller, that much I'm pretty confident on. Someone will come out for Rosa. Anyone else notice Gary playing on the wing a fair bit against Freo? I imagine Rocket would rather him up forward and Rosa in that spot.

This week against Carlton we hold statistical advantages in most areas, and that's what petrifies me. The next test is over the next fortnight. Can we hold our guile and perform at our level to get the points? Part of our growth is winning with absolute favouritism. We've traditionally not handled it well at all.

Will we this week? Time will tell.

But I'm scared.

In: Rosa, miller
Out: McKenzie, Matera

Neither done anything that makes them deserve to be dropped but Rosa and Miller are certain best 22 players.
Quite a few commentators and media people have been raving about our pace and kicking off half-back. McKenzie is integral to that, imo. Agree with Matera though.

So ****ing exciting to have this dilemma though haha

Who changes a side when they win like that ?
I'm firmly in the no change camp - shows strength and stability. Might be unfortunate for Touk and Rosa but they missed the wrong game - it happens all the time in good teams.

if both are to play though - then it will be Matera and Lemmens that miss out .

No way Cameron is in the equation - he's playing his role perfectly in the forward line (and down back as well at times). He's improving with every game and neither Millar or Rosa are direct replacements for his position.

I agree with you , you dont change a winning combo . But Rocket has already come out and said Touk and Rosa will be back this week and if you look at our key stats we do need them , beaten badly in the middle , which has been masked because our backline and outside runners where so good. Clay deserves to keep his spot , has improved out of sight since moving forward , so selection this week is the hardest we have had in our 6 years IMO .

In - Rosa , Miller
Out - Matera , Lemmens

Out - Davis

Hi Coasters, good start of the year for you guys really impressive & great to see Gaz back, hope we put in a good show, but not expecting a win I expect us to make a few changes...
Won't be under rating your lads, they showed some quality against the tigers, and showed you can play some good footy.

Yeh not quite consistent enough very patchy, structures dropped yesterday, Sydney are an awesome side we should have buried Richmond, certainly playing a lot better than last year certainly competitive

You guys are flying...can't see us winning but who knows :$

Carlton have looked good IMO! And we have always struggled to beat them. Losing to the Swans by 10 goals is no great shame. We've been there over the past 5 years. :p

Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Simpson, etc. all usually go very well against us.

Suns are the obvious favourites for Saturday's game, but keep in mind the Suns haven't beaten Carlton since 2012 :p

Don't worry mate, I'll be nervous sitting in the crowd for sure.

House of the Rising Suns (… not by The Animals)

There is a side from Paradise
They’re called the Rising Suns
They’ll be the ruin of many a team
And the Navy Blues are one!

The team is lit by golden fire
I can’t believe the way
The Gold Coast town is one with them
Your team had … better pray.

Now tell your children
Not to do what the visitors have done
Spare your team its misery …
In the House of the Rising Suns

Now that thing that visitors dread
The final scores bin posted
The scoreboard down at Metricon
Says … the Blues were roasted.

You’ve had a taste of Paradise
An’ now you’re on the plane
You’re going back … where you belong
To recollect the pain …

From Paradise there is a team
They’re called the Rising Suns
They’ll be the ruin of many a dream
The Navy Blues are … done!

Go Suns!

His game against the dons was better than you're saying... 15 Dis @ 93% DE 7 contested, 2 Goals, gave nicholls a chop out in the ruck, and he stayed on the ground for 95%, 96 Champion data points, admittedly he dropped a mark on the boundary line but it was a s**t kick in the first place to be that close to the line.

Against freo there was an instance where someone tried to pass it to Day missed him completely so he tapped it perfectly to the advantage of a teammate while holding off his opponent, he doesn't get a stat for that.

I think you guys want him dropped so much you just see the couple bad things he does and jump on it, then dismiss the good things. And if we bring someone in for him it will be 2MP who by all accounts goes missing in the second half due to fitness. I prefer to have Day full of running when the games on the line

Sam Day is as close to a forward version of Big Mummy that we have
Unlike Zac Smith he actually looks willing to go in and break packs
Sure I wish he could take a pack mark and kick 6, but he's earnt his spot over the past 2 weeks IMO
Definitely would be high in goal assists when selection discussion is taking place
2MP isn't demanding his place

Great to see you blokes get over the mental demons and gaining depth and really put the opposition to the sword.

What I'm not happy about is this kebab nonsense with Hall. Just because he is a Cypriot, doesn't necessarily mean he loves the kebab!

He has been spotted enjoying a kebab mate, it's not a racial thing
