If Cloke doesn't play, Cox and Moore are going to get smothered.

Granted it'll be smothered by the worst backline in the AFL, but smothered nonetheless.
Are our defenders going to play on our own forwards?

Spot on!

And look as BJ has been at pains to point out it isn't set in stone yet that he's out, but I'm more just pointing out that little good will come from omitting him, IMO.

You are right BJ only deals in facts.

If I wasn't on his ignore list I would like to know what his thoughts are on Cloke's "potential" game in the VFL??

I am sure the defense will be strong all the same of our Club and this impending master stroke.

Actually, Cox has been played predominantly as a forward over the past year and a bit, and Balme was saying he's actually shown more ability as a forward than as a ruck.
The garbage about him being a ruckman because of his height is the same thing that was being said about Wright in 2014 when people like myself wanted to take him as a forward partner to develop alongside Moore. Now people suddenly want to trade him in from GC as a forward. It's ridiculous how short sighted people are...
He did have 51 hitouts last week in the VFL...

Absolutely. But he's also kicked a bag of 5, regularly kicks goals, and is played predominantly forward in the VFL.

So how about instead of typecasting him as a ruckman, we call him a forward/ruck, which coincidentally, is exactly the type of player we need him to be!

Probably best not to under estimate the Bomber defense. They have conceded less goals than we have despite being under manned and under sized, we would be more of a chance scoring against our own backline.
That was pretty much what I was saying.

Is contracted until the end of 2017 and it's performance based I believe.

We should still keep him on I think, albeit on our terms if he want's to keep playing.

I'm a little disheartened by it all knowing what the club, supporters and this board went through during his initial contract negotiation period. just feel a little ripped off.
Do you think we will renew based on the fact that his currency is not worth putting him on the market? Or due to the fact that we need him as part of our structure and a replacement would bring the same result

We will be better off with Cloke playing along side Cox. We really just want Travis to play a role he isn't going to be a big goal kicker each week. I would think he is best used as a roaming CHF to use his running strength and draw the defenders up the ground and run em around. This way Cox and Moore can get some one on one action and space to do their thing.

My personal opinion is both.

The clubs contesting and improving all have good key forwards so they wouldn't risk upsetting their development I imagine. For some reason Hawthorn comes to mind but probably only because Roughy has missed this year.

Really depends on how Moore and Cox develop I guess.

You're not going to teach Cloke a lesson, reignite his hunger or magically improve his game reading ability by dropping him to the VFL. If this does eventuate, we've just made defending so much easier for the Bombers.

I know he's been struggling but to think that Worsefold would just put the third best defender on him is a joke. He wouldn't risk Cloke getting a hold of them.

This is becoming reminiscent of Sav Rocca's plight. Collingwood started playing in a different way and both forwards struggling to adjust.

Rocca V Malthouse and Cloke V Buckley are pretty similar in a bizarro type way.

Great comparison.......we know how well Rocca went at North after he left.
Hopefully history doesn't repeat with Cloke.

Really bizarre move by Bucks "if" it happens!

Good luck smothering a bloke who's 7 feet tall, weighs 110kg and can mark a ball about 10 feet above the ground. If (and its a big if) we deliver it in Coxy's ideal catching zone, he'll be exceptionally hard to spoil. I hope he doesn't stray far from the central corridor, 20-35 metres from goal. Bombers defenders will be scared stiff.

Yeah just like the time he was posting the table of positive illicit drug tests from 18 clubs in every thread despite only 14 clubs agreeing to testing :D:thumbsu:

So the one week Buckley SHOULDNT drop Cloke, he probably is dropping him.

He's beyond stupid.
It also says a lot about the people around the coach.

The majority of us on here don't agree on a lot, but it seems we agree on this, that dropping Cloke this week in particular is utterly stupid.

Yet Bucks is going to do it, and it seems no one at the club has either told him it's a bad idea, or he doesn't listen to advice given, I'll go to the former here. I'm as "dirty" on the football department as a whole as I am on Bucks himself for everything that is going on now. I don't think he's had the right people around him at any time, from director of football, to medical staff to assistants and specialist coaches (missing ruck coach).

I see what you mean but he's on a hiding to nothing if he plays. He plays badly, he's done. He plays well, it's only because the Bombers have a skeletal defence.

Doesnt matter. He needs confidence.

Without jumping the gun on the final 22, you could mount an argument that we are aligning all the ducks to actually lose this game!!
Really the only things I have been consistently concerned with re our Coach ( too date ) is with selection then player placement on game day. As Sco. has touched on, in just 4 games this year we have made some howlers.
The re selection of Maynard, selection of Caff and White last week were just crazy. The performance of Gault, as bad as it was could at least be justified.
Match day seems to lack imagination and slow reaction to what is unfolding; maybe too much faith in those selected to do the job?

Pardon my ignorance but I thought irrespective of the game is on Monday if you were not I. The extended bench then you were in the team. If I am right then if Cloke does not play he cannot play VFL without the club being scrutinised.

That side is really disappointing. What is Blair doing in that side. He offers nothing.

I am staggered Tim Broomhead isn't in that squad. Maybe he needs a bit more run in his legs but 30 disposals and 10 clearances suggests otherwise though. Must be that he is an elite kick. We dont like those blokes so that's probably the reason.

Seriously Broomhead, Maynard, De Goey are the future for us and they should be in the side. I seriously dont see the point of Reid, Brown and Frost all in and actually suggests to me Reid probably won't play.

Buckley says he will make tough changes but really his only call is on White who came in late last week and was arguably ok. Where is Goldsack.....must be a bad flu?

Bucks loves Blair and I can't see him Dropping Him:mad:

This show the Selectors are like the Aussie Cricket Selectors. Morons

Bucks is all Talk
