Potential blow for Macedon with Jeff Gieschen named coach of Gisborne.

I know Geisch loves Tom Waters and he'll be doing everything he can to get him to stay.

I'd be searching for another ruckman if I were the Cats. Just in case ...

Hearing some positive / exciting news out of Wallan. Recruiting well and the club is moving in the right direction.

Sounds like they will need the extra compensation points awarded to them with all the imports from all reports,

On the same subject will the extra points awarded to teams for next year be looked at the year after as whoever imports the most players for 2016 will get another discount for 2017 if the imports stay at the same club in 2017,

Might come down to what gisborne can afford also.
Hearing the bank balance of the club isnt in the best of health and gieschen will be used to rebuild with a lot of local young kids.
Tom would be at the latter end of a great career and more premiership success would probably be higher on the agenda than being part of a complete rebuild.

Don't think Giesch is going there to coach a side making up the numbers. A high-profile coach might be enough to get some money rolling in from sponsors and I'd be surprised if the Dogs weren't thereabouts next year. Bendigo comp wasn't that strong this year outside of Strathfieldsaye.

Giesch is hands down the best coach ive ever seen or played under. He wont be out there trying to spend money that gisborne dont have. We are talking about an A.F.L coach here. He is a brilliant tactician and will no doubt instill great values, loyalty and work ethic into the club. It sounds like gisborne now need to rebuild off field as well as on and giesch is a man that will sort out a sustainable business plan and take gisborne back to the top over time. I wish him all the best!!!!!

Not exactly a household name.
They will be coming from a long way back and cant see them bothering to many top sides.

Anyway, is it offical that helmers is no longer coaching romsey ?
Back to back flags would be a nice way to bow out.
Be good to see him have a crack at a higher level as can clearly coach.

Confirmed - Manager of the Kilmore branch of the Bendigo Bank is on the committee.

Hope he can kick a footy!!! Great for them to have this type of guy involved but really feel for Kilmore. This issue was raised and processes put in place 6 weeks ago, they have now missed 6 weeks of recruiting opportunities as who would go there not knowing what league your in. They are in for a real tough year, if it could get tougher than previous, for gods sake let common sense prevail !!!

Centrals another quality guy involved, smith has afl background don't he? Is that the same one, maybe bulldogs or north. Gee they do a lot right, again time to start winning with bullen, corridg, Hickman, Gilmore that's a reasonable spine to work around.

NEW Gisborne coach Jeff Gieschen will hope to talk key trio Casey Summerfield, Tom Waters and Matt Knox into staying with the Bulldogs next year.

Gieschen was this week appointed the new coach of Gisborne, taking over from Rod Sharp, who stood down earlier this month.

Among Gieschen’s early priorities will be to speak with former Gisborne captain Summerfield, inter-league ruckman Waters and leading goalkicker Knox, who are all headed to Macedon in the Riddell District Football League.

“Part of what I see my role as will be to try to get some of those people back,” said Gieschen, who previously coached Richmond for 49 games in 1997 to 1999.

“They are good young men and I have seen what they are capable of. They are very good players and should be playing at the highest level, which is the Bendigo league.

“Circumstances have changed with a change of coach, there will be a different mindset around things, so out of respect to all those lads, we need to contact them and double check to see if they may have an interest in coming back.”

The Bulldogs are coming off a 6-12 season in which they finished sixth, missing the finals for just the third time in their 16 BFL seasons.

Interesting questions I have. 1. Why haven't Riddell come out positive with there new coach Jamie Elliot to the media or even Facebook? 2. What has happened since dean helmers has agreed to coach romsey for next year roughly around a month ago? As far as I no his coaching romsey! 3. What is happening with diggers next year? Is sims going on next year and who have they lost/recruited?

Gilmore and obrien will be great gets but losses of corridg and Richardson are going to hurt.

Good on Kilmore for getting the community onboard tho they need all the help they can get.
Great to see everyone paying attention last season but Ritcharson not hard to replace always about him self and corrida will be a loss Centrals will be ones to watch please pay more attention to other clubs they will need it

Do Wallan have a history of offering big $ contracts and not fulfilling them? I have heard from close sources they have no money but have offered several recruits from craigieburn big $$
