Where are all the Kangaroos players and supporters?

I'm sure most teams would have had a good chuckle seeing them go down to Lancefield.
I'm sure the Kangaroos rocked up thinking a 10 goal win if they half tried and a 100pt win if they were keen.

Come on guys, bring it on. Surely the umpires cost you the game.

Kangaroos will need Riddell to rest half there side this week to get within even 10 goals.

If Romsey beat Woodend and Kangaroos get beaten by Riddell the Kangaroos miss the double chance come September.

Im here, facing the music!

Whats wrong with Lancefield just playing better football on the day!

Yeah dissapointing, so be it, move on..... You mentioned umpires, not 'US'!

better now than in the next 3/5 weeks.

i think ladder will stay same as it is now kangas are a game + healthy perenatge in front of romsey so i cant seeing romsey finishing 3rd. Will be a very good 1st round of finals football (Wood Vs Kangas / DR vs Rosmey) , 2 games that they is no clear favourite.. bing on September

Give it your best BD, sure you have been waiting all year to have a cheap crack at us.. Yep, rarely posted until now... Lancefield played a fantastic game of football, well done to them, Chris Collins has done a fantastic job and put some good things in place at Tiger land. They will be a force in years to come, the youngsters that stepped up from the 18's were fantastic. The Roos need to re focus now on finals and I have no doubt that they will... Hope to see you there BD2...

You can not blame umpiring decisions for sunbury's loss. Lancefield should never have been that close in the first place. I went and watched romsey lancefield last weekend. In a game that traditionally brings the best out of both sides, even when either side are not ravelling well. Lancefield were pityful. They showed no heart, their ball use was fourth rate and plain and simple looked very very ordinary. That being the case, Sunbury will be pretenders when it comes to the business end of the season if they can not handle a lowly and very out of sorts lancefield unit!!

Being a former Romsey footballer Launch, you should know that you can never underestimate Lancefield. Perhaps the Roos played poorly, but the Tigers have plenty of one thing that the Redbacks lack badly - ticker. There is no doubt that when it comes down to sheer talent, Romsey, Sunbury Kangaroos and every other side ranked 1-6 on the ladder is better poised than Lancefield. But the Tigers are a fighting bunch, and prove that money can't buy team spirit.

Here is a story that may interest a few here too:

Collins reappointed

CHRIS Collins will lead Lancefield Football Club into a new and exciting era, according to the Tigers’ committee.
The 21-year-old playing coach has been reappointed for 2008 as the club pushes for the finals, after missing out the past two seasons.
The Tigers’ last premiership was in 2004, on the back of two consecutive grand final losses.
After finishing second last in 2006, Collins has developed the club into one of the hardest working in the Riddell District Football League.
While the success has not yet come for the former Bendigo Bomber, with just five wins and a draw to date, the Tigers have shown vast improvement this year and appear to be heading in the right direction.
With the club able to field an Under 18s side this season, and with many of those youngsters still able to play in the thirds next year, the Tigers have a breeding ground for success.
Collins, who was a key member of Lancefield’s last premiership as an 18-year-old, has shown enough commitment and vigour to suggest he is capable of leading the Tigers back into the RDFL finals.
In the last decade or so Lancefield Football Club’s fortunes resemble a rollercoaster ride.
In 1996, the club reached an all-time high when they won their second consecutive premiership against Riddell.
Three years later, the club had folded due to lack of numbers and spent a season in recess.
A hard working group of locals united to see the Tigers re-form and a completely different Lancefield Football Club was born.
Less than five years later, the club had competed in three successive grand finals and won a flag, all under the tutelage of master coach Simon Jorgenson.
While Collins is still an apprentice in terms of coaching ability, he has two qualities that can be seen in the best of coaches . . . the respect of players, and leadership.
Lancefield’s senior players did one of their hardest and most gruelling pre-seasons under Collins’ first year as coach.
With a similar preparation heading into next season with a few extra players, there is every chance the Tigers could once again be a force in the RDFL.
It is a credit to the club’s committee for showing faith in Collins as perhaps the youngest ever coach in the Riddell District Football League’s history.
But most of the credit should go to Collins, who rewarded the committee’s faith with a terrific showing in his first senior coaching stint.
POSITIONS VACANT
Lancefield Football Club has opened up the reserves and Under 18 coaching positions for 2008.
Anyone interested in filling either of these positions should send an application and resume to: Coaching Position, P.O. Box 110, Lancefield VIC 3435.

Lancefield have been in a rebuilding phase all last year and this year! So for them to put a constructed game plan together, payed dividends!

You may have seem them play a pityful game of football, but what most are forgetting is they have one of the best midfields still going round!

As for pretenders, good luck with that!

not lancefield.hence the players rested.as for blaming umpires, i must have missed that

Because a side is pityful (sic) one week doesn't neccessarily mean they are pityful every week.. Lancefield were sensational on Saturday, a credit to Chris and his men... :thumbsu:

i have to agree i think this year has proven no sides are easy beats and if teams dont bring there A-grade game they are going to be in trouble .. see bro kick a lazy 8 on the weekend fair effort from boy , he usually has a bit to say on the feild (friendly banter of course) and if he is snagging 8 for the day he would have been in full voice...

Don't get too far ahead of yourself there billy. You get to face a resurgent Tigers outfit chock full of confidence and playing good footy. Heard a rumor that you may have a few out due to a wedding this week, not that you're likely to tell me. Bring your A game or you may have an early footy trip!

Tigers terrific!

LANCEFIELD senior footballers produced a stunning four-quarter effort to overrun Sunbury Kangaroos on Saturday, confirming that they will be a side to look out for in 2008.
While the Tigers’ win can only be described as a brilliant team effort, it took a handful of excellent individual displays to conquer the visiting Roos.
Scott Smithwick showed his best form of the season with a superb best on ground performance, kicking three goals in the process.
While the same names popped up in Lancefield’s best, it was the workrate of the younger players that won the Tigers the match.
Luke Malone, Glen Caton, Rob Cini, Chris Burkett, Aaron Andrews, Kirk Lang – all Under 18 players - were terrific.
Considering all bar Caton played in the thirds’ match earlier in the day, it was a remarkable effort by the Tiger cubs.
The five that backed up also have at least another year in the Under 18s, confirming that the Lancefield club is in safe hands for the next few years.
Trailing by 17 points heading into the final stanza, the Tigers played inspired and eye-catching football to overrun Sunbury Kangaroos.
While the Roos had no incentive to win with a top-three berth secured, you can be sure that both sides were fiercely engrossed in winning this encounter. There was definitely no talk of “tanking”, as some AFL clubs have been accused of in the last month or so.
Showing excellent signs of fitness, despite working so hard all year, the Tigers kicked six final term goals to Sunbury’s three, finishing with a three-point lead when the siren sounded.
In front of a small but passionate home crowd, the Tigers were jubilant with their upset victory.
BIGGEST SCORE
While possessions, marks, tackles and inside fifties are useful statistics, the only stat that matter is the final score.
The Tigers’ tally of 16.15 (111) was in fact their highest score of the year, with seven individual goalscorers.
It is said almost every week but inspirational skipper Simon Choate led the way again.
He racked up over 30 possessions and kicked four goals, including three telling majors in the final term.
Choate shared the spoils with Mark Caton (four goals), Smithwick (three) and playing coach Chris Collins (two).
The re-signing of Collins earlier in the week appeared to be an inspiration for the Tigers.
For Sunbury Kangaroos, Leigh Sporle produced his best game of the season with eight goals in a terrific display.
Former Bowen medallist Jamie Cuffe showed his recruiting value with a good showing in the ruck in tandem with Steve Boyd, while midfielders Mark McInerney and Daniel Bonnici also shone.
Lancefield travel to Diggers Rest this Saturday for a chance to knock the Burra out of the finals race. Should the Tigers win and Kilmore defeat Rockbank, the Blues will finish in fifth position – ahead of Diggers Rest.

Cause I think he got his review pretty right for not actually being at the game, and your opinion is always pretty objective & accurate pal.
(hope that does'nt sound to sicophantic)

Obviously it is impossible to be at each match so I normally speak to a number of people who were in attendance before writing my pieces, sometimes Harry. But overall, I think I do a reasonable job considering there are no replays, no television coverage of our games etc. Mike Sheahan has it easy!!!

Gents, Could Lancefield cause another upset this weekend then??
surely the Blues will be hoping so...

Crucial Timing for Absent Trio

In what has been a outstanding year for the Riddell Dristrict Football League and the associated clubs, the crunch time of season is just about upon us. This Saturday will make or break Diggers Rest and Kilmore's season respectively, with both not having a say in how the other side pans out. However come 5pm Saturday after a terrific 18 rounds of football a clearer picture will have been painted! some question's will be getting asked for the unfortunate one, as to where to now, and who will play in the big one! Kilmore will need Lancefield to beat Diggers and Diggers will require Rockbank to put a performance up like they did 2 weeks ago against Riddell to be any certainty.

In a season defying round of football, it comes to light now that an issue surrounding the perfomance and result of one particular game could shape out to be bigger than intially thought. Last year the 'Diggers Rest Football Club' headed into the biggest game of the year without several players due to particular religion commitments.

This week brings the same value for the club, and the same issues will arise! Do Diggers have it in them to beat Lancefield without them? A question asked by so many over the pre-season and at the completion of last year, it even lead to the questioning of the league by the Herald Sun and Football Victoria, in how the game could be structured for these players to play.

Your all thinking that this game is played on Saturday, and they should not have a problem playing. "WRONG"! This saturday, Diggers will take the field in what has been a season defying turn around after a dismal first half to the year, without these key players. One particular player J.Jose has had another stellar year, and been a key performer in the significant climb towards September and will poll extremely well in the end of year Bowen count.

On Saturday these guys will attend a wedding, whilst their team mates will do battle to play September and keep the dream alive. Very crucial after the circumstances and the critiscism these players received last year about commtiment to their team mates, as that question could be put to them and laid in front of them Saturday!

In what possibly could be the most defying moment in this season, could this impact the final 5 for 2007? Only Saturday will tell, as both sides will go to war to play in September football! How you like this one Nichols? Bet you had no idea! Eat my shorts!:thumbsu:

No doubt will be tougher for diggers but they will account for the tigers. Anyone keen to throw a few smokeys from each club for the Bowen. Apart from the favourites, jose and sipthorpe to give it a real shake- Thoughts

Sipthorp absolutely no chance! Missed far too many games.

No not at all. Who were your best players for both sides Omni? I know there wasn't too many from Romsey and there were plenty from Riddell, could you give me your three for each side?

Not a very accurate comment Mr Nicholls. I'm sure I speak for a number of my fellow Redbacks in saying that there are a alot of us with plenty of what you refer to as "ticker". You only have to look at the blokes who haven't missed a game despite carrying injuries, you look at the performances of the blokes who may not be superstars but lift when the other so called superstars are down, the ones that play well against good sides, not just the rabble. If you want the Redbacks to lift, you've just found out how to make them. Comments like that will only fire them up as it has me. Personally I'm insulted. Sure I can handle critisism, but when you are questioning the heart/courage and determination of a club and my team mates, then you a bound to get someone who will take it personally and you've found him.

Finally some ticker! Haha. You know I'll always have a dig at the Redbacks. It's in my blood champ. Don't worry, everyone knows that Romsey is having a crack each and every week. No one is going to listen to what I have to say :D I've been desperately wanting to see Romsey play to their potential this year. They have shown glimpses, but I don't think anyone has seen the Redbacks play a solid four-quarter game yet. If they can put it together, they can accomplish great things
