given that the local umpire advocate has posted on here since my post and hasn't mentioned my post does that mean that this simmo is a protected species, if so I will consider pulling my son out of this league if they continue to protect this idiot.

mate, if your trying to negate a response it's not going to happen, if you want to make a difference training is tonight at 6.15 at mcpherson park in melton, we would be more than happy to see you there :thumbsu:

Interesting to see the squads posted on the rdfl website. Anyone to have a go at a possible line-up match-ups.

C: Cam Dawson (R), Matt Robertson (K), Aaron Christiansen (M).
HF: Simon Choate (L), Mick Lacy (WH), Ben Richmond (R).
F: Dave Cornish (W), Tristan Salter (K), Rick Dowling (L).
R: Ryan Connellan (R), Blake Whiteway (W), Guy Donovan (WH).

Captain: Simon Choate.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

but the post i'm refering too made absolutely no reference to that game, your trying to strip a kid of his credibility because of his age?? as some of the other posts have said i would back a 12 year old kid to be able to establish if player A has punched player B. I know when I first started out it was rather intimidating to lay a report, the kid (and i have absolutely no idea who he is) should be commended for showing the balls to make such a call.

Im not going to get into a slinging match with you .I have alot of respect for the the umpire and by no means would try to discredit him. We need all of the umpires we can get. My question was simply sourcing out if there was a set age limit for an umpire before he was able to make a report . After all suspending a player is a very serious matter.A report can be devistating on a young player Re- medals ,RDFL squads etc. I should have been a little clearer in my post,I hope this clears up the matter

Did you see my post ,,, You seem to be the heavy weight around here !

Is this game for real ? East meets West ? Who came up with this idea ?

Would it be better to play another league By-annual ?

Mid year sometime , have 16's 18's and the 0ne's + also have the Netball play same day A's and B's

Could turn into a real big event over time - All the gate moneys go to ie: Royals childrens , canteen , star-lite

Target one League ...

Would other leagues think this could work ?

Ofcourse it would be better to play another league.
Do you have some contacts that may have some pull? The league has been trying for years to get a game going against some of those leagues.
Even to organise a match against another country league is a problem, the RDFL is currently a Metro football league and i believe the VCFL will not support a game. Due to them wanting us to ditch the Metro and go back to the VCFL.

no there is no set age limit on the reporting, and nor do i think there should be. we understand the serious nature of laying reports but that is part of the job. you also have to remember an umpire only reports the player he does not suspend them.

as for how devistating it can be to a young player, if such a player didn't (alledgedly) punch another player we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Should all umpires need to pass an eye test also in order to report?

Its pretty hard to find another comp that is willing to play an interleague match that would be on an even keel. This All-Star match will feature the best of the best of the RDFL and I believe all clubs will have the chance to make cash from the contest. I know the powers that be at RDFL headquarters are searching for an interleague opponent for next year, and could even be looking interstate

Definitely not a heavyweight, except for on the scales. Although brace yourselves people, Nichollenko is making his return this weekend - all for the community football weekend.
With Essendon players Courtney Johns and Andrew Welsh at Romsey, I'm going to pull the boots on for the Redbacks' reserves, in a final bid to get recognised for my footballing talents and get drafted! That is of course, if I get cleared from Lancefield.

then you have to worry about being selected in the 2nd 18 id imagine . Should be a corker of a game this week between diggers and Romsey. Cmon IMS throw your support around his inclusion in the side im sure it will draw a crowd

I reckon it will only draw a crowd if you make a comeback and stand beside him, showing him how its done billy :thumbsu:

Could you name a side that isn't?

Carlton weren't last year. Melbourne aren't this year. The point is that Gisborne are more desperate to win it this year because they are not used to losing and are keen to extract revenge on Eaglehawk. The Bulldogs, like Riddell, were the better team last year but lost in the big dance.

I thought Romsey were struggling for numbers in the 2s but i didn't think they were that desperate

Russell Robertson at the start of the year was quoted saying the Dees could win the 08 flag. Every team is desparate to win a flag - just because some are more capable than others does not mean they are more desparate.

Eaglehawk has beaten Gisborne 4 out of the last 5 times they have played. Twice in the finals series last year. Not so sure Gisborne were a long way ahead of Eaglehawk??

So you're saying Gisborne can't perform under pressure?

Sorry Matt - re-read my post and could not see where I mentioned the above. As a jurno you should know better than to make things up.

What I was saying that if Eaglehawk has beaten Gissy 4 out of the last 5 times they met - I think that would make Eaglehawk a better side. Or do these figures give you the impression that Gis are clearly the best side in the BFL?

Are you trolling MN?

Kings Army, last time Gisborne played Eaglehawk, they should have won. They missed some very easy shots on goal. In my opinion they are and have been the best side on paper in the Bendigo FL in the last five years. Losing last year when they knew they were the best must hurt more than losing as an underdog. Therefore they are more desperate to win this year.

Sippy will not be at Gissy in 08.

Not happy with this more desparate line.

Mongrel, TBR, Grub - do you think Riddell are more desparate than Kangaroos to win this years flag? Or do you want it as much as them?

You only have to look at Riddell's spending to see that they are more desperate this year. Having said that the Kangas don't have the cash, but the Bombers must be embarrassed they lost last year's flag. Because they could still probably be the best side this year without their recruits.

I think every side is deseperate to win a flag whether they are Geelong or Timbuctoo thirds, however some clubs have the ability to influence factors than may contribute to them achieve the best possible outcome.

It hurts to get so close, but it must hurt Riddell more knowing they had it in their finger tips.

I think last years Grand Final proved that anyone in this comp can bet anyone on any given day, numeorus times last year where sides who perhaps on paper were not as good as their opposition had a real crack.

The biggest thing Lee and Sam have bought back to Riddell other than ability is that X Factor they once had. The things that perhaps last year they missed, the ability to intimidate other sides. Money well spent I reckon.....

However one thing I keep hearing is how 'RDFL sides' are modeling themsleves on Gisbornes off field culture, and the bond they have, which is a compliment to them. Just look at how many RDFL clubs have Ex-Gisborne people affiliated with them now. You can even include the Lions in this catergory to some extent, minus a couple of incidents ;)
