Maybe not the same club in name but it was the easy way out so they didn't have to pay their huge debt. Funny how the AFL changed the rules not long after that so that only a certain number of players registered with a folded club can be registered with a new club.

had no players.the bulk of the debt left over by the defunct club was paid off by the macedon f.c during the 2002 -2003 seasons.
the macedon f.c formed with only under 18s in the first season, which after years of local players being enticed from macedon once they'd finished juniors(u16s) seemed the logical place to begin.
you'll most likely find ,that when macedon f.c senior and reserve sides began in 2003 ,the majority of players who played during that season ,were players who had played their junior football at macedon and had gone elsewhere due to the lack of an under18s team,.and blokes who hadn"t played footy for the previous club but were looking to have a kick with their mates

Matt Nicholls no wonder for the write free press, no one would ever pay the garbage you wrote, this week in the record about Riddell. You wrote that we had underachieved and should be heading for our seventh flag in row. In fact 2002 we won 2-3 games, 2003, we won 3-4 games. That leaves 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 4 grandfinals, 2 flags. Most clubs would take that in 4 years. Another error, you said we had won three 3 flags in that era. You will be writing for the free press for a very long time with that embarrassing crap you wrote on the weekend.

I am very very sorry for the mistake. I'll put a retraction in this week's paper and RDFL record. Don't know what I was thinking. Should have looked it up. Apologies to the Riddell FC and all their supporters and players. Wish I could blame the drugs I'm on but can't.

nah they didnt play out of their skins, there are some very good players at kilmore and it will still take a few weeks to get the side to full strength mate.
robbo had a dominant 3rd quarter, luke weller was good all day, ben newham and sapiano dangerous early in the game, good team effort all up though was pleasing to watch the fellas from the sidelines after last weeks game. when at full strength the blues will cause a couple of upsets in 2nd half of yr!

watching the game (from the second qtr on) kilmore would have breathed a sigh of relief not to see dawson in the second half. in the second quarter he was on fire and marking everything and i couldnt see any kilmore player stopping him...

I Don"t know what over clubs would think about Jacana coming back in,but I was involved in the league when Moomba Park ,North Fawkner & Jacana were around & I don"t think it would be a good idea .:(:(:(

played against jacana recently....terrible side but wasnt any trouble in the game have had worse experiences against other clubs in edfl. sometimes people stereotyple clubs from low socio-ecenomic areas. maybe they were a bit rough 10 years ago but club cultures can change. and once clubs get a name for being thugs it can be hard to shake off

I think the result may have been different if Dawson didnt get injured. When you consider who was missing from the seniors I think Romsey did ok(Karton, Baker,Richmond,Burlak,Wheatley,Nettlebeck,)
No disrespect to Kilmore they played well

Is it true Bakes (Adrian not Luke) played in the curtain raiser? If so what happened there?

kilmore had players out as well so using the players out excuse is no good mate. you can only beat whos in front you each week. its easy to lay out the ifs and buts!

Tool of the Week would have to go to Colliver who kicked the ball a good 70 metres the wrong way straight down the throat of a Romsey player who standing at full forward who easily goaled.
