Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Ok now, we've all had our say. Lets not go on about it and lets get on with the footy.

What a week for round 2.
Romsey come to Sunbury for a very hard hit out against the roos, and the ground was no different (concrete). Romsey jumped out the gates in leaps and bounds and it looked like it was going to be a very big win, in the 3rd quarter the roos came out and gave it all and at the final break it was 14points and it was game on. In the final term Romsey proved too strong for the roos and ran away with it. had it not been for inaccurate kicking the margin could have been almost 15 goals.
Wallan answered a few questions, are they not as good as predicted to only beat Rockbank by a couple of goals or have Rockbank improved, only going down to Diggers at wallan shows that they will be fighting for a spot in the 6.
Centrals are also continuing to impress going down to the Hawks by only 2 points, if the Hawks had kicked straight the margin could have almost been 7 or 8 goals.
Some from Riddell say Macedon will go alright this year but the boys on the feild showed them that they will not get near them in 08.
It looks as though Kilmore led all day against a much improved Lancefield side and won in the end by 3 goals, a win that the blues would have been looking for going into next weeks big Anzac day clash against the Kangas.
Rockbank got their first 4 points of the year while enjoying a rest after their first round game.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Someone on the kangas committee should have told the woman doing the time keeping in the seniors to shut her mouth. Her mouth probably didnt do the kangas any favours with the umps or RDFL officials at the game

If the Kanga boys' get all the Women around their Club to keep their Mouths shut, then there's gunna be some pretty unhappy Boys down Sunbury Town ! ! !

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

any news from games pickles, injuries, reports match reports? pretty quiet on that front. Any teams that wish to mention games played on weekend

From the Riddell camp:
Young Climas has done an ankle, could miss 2-4 weeks.
B. Allen has a heel injury that could sideline him 2-3 weeks.
Leigh Harrison not happy, walked out on the club. May the bidding begin.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

i find it very disappointing that my fellow players and supporters seem to always have a comeback when someone mentions our supporters to be disappointing and ferral at the kangas.i understand that everyone gets emotionally charged when the game is in progress.BUT it is time for all of us to cop it on the chin and put an end to this pathetic behavior.i wasnt at the game on the weekend but from what im told, our supporters and players need to show some respect to the opposition players and umpires or perhaps find a new club.all the hard work that has been put into this club is tarnished every time our players and supporters act in this manner.time to smarten up guys and realise that it is a problem

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

i know that we have been harping on about the umps and i for one dont ever blame the umps, they are always going to be 50% right and 50% wrong with all the decision they make, depends on who you follow, but in the game i played which the final result was very close, the umpire had only one job to do (as to the players) and worry about the football, i think on a few occasions a couple of jumper grabs from players on both teams arose, with nothing more than the players testing each other due to the closness of the game, the umpire just had to make the game flow, once the ball is thrown up players forget an turn their attention to the game.

each ocassion, and it was the same umpire each time, stood next to the players and kept calling for them to "break it up, or you both will be sent off", which i can underdstand we dont want violence, but if he had just thrown the ball up got on with the game, instead of attempting to control it the outcome would have been better.

there was also a number of times the umpires would tell the player that he (the umpire was right) was right, and keep niggling at the player after a 50/50 free kick was given, it is acts like that need to be stoped by the umps so that the respect comes back into the game, there are plenty of umps who you can ask questions to and the game is always played in good spirit because you know the umpire is willing to listen.

like i said i dont ever can the umps, but its something that annoys some players, lets hopefully get back onto the reason why we have this thread and get back to talking some footy!!

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

What hope have leagues got with the AFL umpiring bosses likely to sack an umpire over 1 sh1t bounce. PLEASE guys forget about perception and just umpire and for the rest off us if we can do better get out there and do it, if not then let them do the best job they can and respect it.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

ENOUGH whinging about umpires lets face it if we dont have them we have to provide them ourselves and it is bloody hard work trying to get someone around our club to do it..so lets talk footy.any stand outs from weekend.anyone gunna jump out and surprise

The lady in question doesn't swear, isn't abusive nor is she over the top, she is just a loud and passionate supporter of the football club. Actually, I wish there were more supporters like her.

For sure Billy... Cant wait for this Friday's games.. Hopefully a few faces from here will be up at Kilmore on Friday for the game and enjoying the festivities.. It is surely going to be a great game.. Just out of interest who here is heading up for the game?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Big week for the Kangaroos, expect some big names to be included after possibly the worst start to a season in memory for us injury and suspension wise....

I expect a near 6 inclussions in from a depleted Sunbury outfit that challenged Romsey for 3 quarters last week.

Does anyone know of any pre match festivities or will their be a presentation made prior?

This game should be built up to be one of the biggest events on the RDFL calender?

I'll be there. Obviously for work, and I've been asked to be an independent observer to give my votes for the Anzac Day medal (best on field). The two coaches, plus the field umpires will also give votes. Should be a cracker of a day. Kilmore's new changerooms will be used for the first time too!

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

:rolleyes::rolleyes: (mmmm ROBBO)

The first thing I asked was whether I could give the following:

5 - M. Robertson
4 - M. Robertson
3 - M. Robertson
2 - M. Robertson
1 - M. Robertson

But in all seriousness I think I've done votes in about three or four Kilmore matches in the last couple of years, and I don't think I've ever given Robbo votes in any of them.

I heard they only gave you vote cards in games he wasn't playing in.
