Footys back & thank goodness for it, anyone know why we didn’t play last week ? Cause I cant think of any good reason for it !
Anyways I digress, my Tips for a HUGE Round 9 of RDFL footy are………..


Macedon to continue their improvement with a confidence boosting win over a depleated Romsey outfit by 16 pts.

Woodend to maintain the “rage” at home over an inconsistent Kilmore unit by 48 pts.

Diggers to hang tough for a while but be over run by the Juggernaut that is Riddell, by 38 pts.

Melton & Rockbank to fight out a real nailbiter in their Derby match…………… DRAW !

Lancefield to put up a real fight at home against Wallan, but go down due to the Pies potent forward line by 24 pts.

great day for the navy blue army with all teams winning. I think this is the first time in a very long time this has happened!

seniors 95 to 58.
reserves 90 to 10.

dont know the netball

how did everyone else go fellas?

Riddell 1's won by around 18goals and the 2's won by 10 goals I think? Diggers in a bit of trouble if that is there best outfit?
 
Macedon by 10 goals over Romsey
Woodend by about the same over Kilmore.
& Riddell by about double that over Diggers, B.O.G. either P. Robertson or Serg Power others to play well J. Allen, A. Blade, S. Young & L. James a lazy 8. Diggers dominated the ruck & covered two Forwards (Petran & Allen) but Mid Field sharking coupled with James(8) & Meacham (4 goals) killed the contest !

First of all well done to lancefield on a good win yesterday. But i have to say that is honestly the worst umpiring of a game of footy i have ever seen. It was an absolute disgrace. And talking after the game with a few lancefield players, they even said the same. How has wallan had simmo 6 out of 9 games this yr. He sent 3 wallan players off in the space of about 5 minutes half way through the last quarter when it was only 2 points the difference. They sent one player off for telling the umpire to relax, another player for disputing a decision when all the player was telling the umpire was to protect the head of the player with the ball. Then red carded our captain for telling our players to shut up because he thought it was directed at him, then when our captain told the umpire not to talk to him he reported him for threatening an umpire. And our captain never even swore! It was disgusting and it just killed off the game! I dont know what his problem is but this bloke shouldnt umpire again. An absolute F***** disgrace!:thumbsdown:
 
totally agree and the young fellas umpiring was a disgrace aswell. simmo is teachin him bad habits. get simmo out of the league his destroyin good games.

I was at the game and didn't think Simmos effort was that bad. Wallan showed a total lack of discipline which is obvious by the captain having to tell his players to shut up. If one player gets sent off then the others if they had half a brain should know to shut up. The game wasn't killed off because of the umpiring it was because Wallan ran out of legs. Gee Simmo must get around if he's been at Wallan 6 out of 9 games because I'm sure I've seen him at other grounds........they're twins you Wallan Wally.
 
Yeah that young umpire basically fell to level of simmos umpiring yesterday. If he wants to umpire with the big boys he's gotta not act like a little kid like he did yesterday! He was just as bad yesterday but i agree having simmo tutoring him isnt going to get him anywhere
 
Wallan did run out of legs yesterday and were reduced to 15 men on the field in the last quarter. lancefield were harder at the ball after the second quarter, but any football person would have to say that sommo,s display after halftime was a discrace, wallan didn't recieve one free kick from simmo after halftime and our players did get frustrated with the umpiring display and you could not blame them. We have had simmo 5 out of 9 games this year and you are correct their were 2 of them at one stage but thank god there is only 1 left and i would have to say that his time might be coming to the end.
 
Wallan boys, Welcome back to the RDFL, have you forgotton how to deal with Simmo, If players don't mouth off or argue and play discipline footy, he will generally be ok. (sometimes)
Once he is put off side it is hard to get him back.
 
We have delt with simmo on several occasions this year and in previous years when we were in the rdfl and then their was the dynamic duo, what we are saying is that we would love to share his superb skills with a few other teams in the league.

You are kidding aren't ya mate! Even the lancefield players said he was disgraceful yesterday. But having said that lancefield were running over the top of us. And you're right we did run out of legs. So i got no problems with losing because we didnt deserve to win. But the umpiring, especially in last 20 or so minutes did kill off the game because it gave us absolutely no chance of even being competitive. And yes i know they are twins but im pretty sure one of them has retired and we have actually had him in 5 games and not 6.

I haven't been down to RU training for a few weeks but i'm pretty sure this couldn't be further from the truth

well watch out fella's, ive seen the other simmo training at the umpires, might make a comeback!? anyway, we've had problems with simmo before and we've learnt that you just have to keep your mouth shut coz he aint going to put up with anything! also, you'll be quite surprised but simmo is one of the fittest umpires in the league. i know... i couldnt believe it but i watched him smash alot of the younger blokes in time trials! although fitness doesnt help decision making!
 
i see that slugga kicked another bagfull saturday.perhaps the gissy boys could answer this,are we seeing the next michael werner?i do realise that both full fowards played in gun sides,but has there been a better full foward in the rdfl ova the past decade????
i would say NO. i would rate jamesy as equivalent to simon hawkins now,with still many years ahead of him.so my question remains werner or james?who would our gun full backs prefer 2 play on?

Just an observers view I think the full backs would prefer to play on James less likely to get belted from behind.

2008 umpiring in all grades laughable:eek:
 
The key to B-1 now is - 1. He should never be rostered on as the senior Umpire, these days he needs “minding”.
2. If you play disciplined footy (like Blues & George said) & keep your trap shut when he makes his first controversial decision rather than mouth off & despute it, then it makes it virtually impossible for him to make the game revolve around “HIM” !

I may just say that has to include your spectators also (He loves to play up to the crowd). A tough ask I know.

Whilst on the subject of Umpires I would just like to mention that I had the pleasure on Saturday to see 2 real Pro’s going about their business. With a minimum of fuss, the two boys worked really well together & just may be the best answer for the Biggie in September. Only time will tell I spose.
Anyway well done to Troy Jones & Dav’ “The Orange Educator” Reid on a very smooth display !
