I didnt see the game but looking at the scoreboard it again looked like Romsey were flat in the first half...like the sunbury game..

They would want to get out of that habit because you cant chase the scoreboard in September...

Were they just flat? Macedon too fierce?

On the other side of the coin their fitness doesn't seem an issue as they have dominated second halves this year, that's a plus for the redbacks.

I guess the next 10,000 posts will be all about trying to bring down the Redbacks. Let's hope not as 1 loss to this stage is nothing short of exceptional. Can we please get a detailed and honest report on the match in question?:thumbsu:..and are Macedon the real deal? If so its shaping as one if the best finals series of recent times:thumbsu::thumbsu:
Hi buddy very good game of footy at Romsey park, game in 2 halves first half Macedon were very very good and quick.. some of the kids they have are great,, credit to who's producing these boys and developing these boys from the under age till now, just great.. i think Rob Beatson or i think that's his name??? is some how involved over there and the leadership of big Al Meldrum is working a treat there game plan and structure work to a treat in the first half 51 points up at half time Macedon our boys were very reactive well done Macedon REAL DEAL???? NOT THIS YEAR BUT IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS ARE GOING TO BE VERY HARD TO BEAT STICK WITH BIG AL AND THESE KIDS THERE GOING PLACES....at half time i heard one of the best speeches i have heard from a coach and his assistance very calm very stern but to the point it made the hair on the back of my head stand up and i felt like i want to put that great redbacks jumper on myself:thumbsu: and it had the club rooms a buzz and the players were raring to go, to the boys credit they play a different brand of footy were not waiting for their mate to get it, they were getting it themselves and plenty of it in the last minute we hit the front:) but to Macedon credit they kicked the last goal to win by a point great game....as a club we are proud what we have achieved so far this year on and off the field we are not finished yet so dont start thinking that pickles:D but we will be working our butts of to get back on the winners list this week.there were not to many sad faces at Romsey on the weekend and the coaches were happy with the efforts of some of our local kids....GO GAZZA i talked to al meldrem after the game and he said that he and his coachs had a huge smile on there face when they READ the TEAM SHEET...no..... DAWSON ..... .B MITCHELL ....... BREWER,....YAK,.....GRUBBY,.... N.DAVIDSON,.....BRADY.....,S,BURLAK ....there some big outs mate so we are not to disappointed over here.........also the first game in 46 outings that Matt DAVO Davidson has lost in a game of footy had a run AROUND ALL OVER THE PARK TODAY AND LOVE IT???? NOT A BAD RECORD THAT:thumbsu:Me and Pedo are waiting for you pickles with open arms champ;) just come down and see us, were waiting there nice and wide mate.. BANG...BANG...;);)hope thats good enough Go Gazza ???

Maybe it was because one of their most consistent players was knocked out in the first 15 minutes of the 1st quarter and is still a very sick boy tonight! Hopefully he will be ok. Until a couple of hours ago he couldn't remember the last week or two.

I guess Black Caviar will lose at her 17th start. So three more wins for the great mare before her streak comes undone.
BE VERY CAREFUL MATTHEW... FIND OUT IF THATS WHAT THE MAN SAID FIRST YOU NO YOU JURNOS.... LIKE TO TALK SHIT:thumbsdown: AND EXTEND THE STORY SOMETIMES, SO I WOULD JUST FIND OUT IF THATS WHAT THE GENTLEMAN SAID BEFORE BEING TO SMART AND CHEEKY:D:D THEM BIG THING AT THE FRONT OF YOUR MOUTH THAT YOU ARE USED TO CHEW APPLES THREW PICKET FENCE ....JUST MIGHT HAVE TO BE REMOVED......BANG ..BANG.. TALK SOON RING ME IF YOU NEED AND I CAN SET UP A MEETING TO ASKED THE MAN YOURSELF IF THATS WHAT HE SAID:p:p:p

Well all know what Peddo said and the spin that was put on it. The Riddell coach stirred the pot nicely and I'm just helping him out. Jeez, one loss and the Redbacks get a bit sensitive on Saturday night :D

Gee i would have been happy to be putting my side on the park with those names out too. Thankyou for that Connalinko as i said I didnt think it would be too long before the s*#t stirring would start. Well done to the Cats though as it sounded like a ripping game. Kangas and Riddell having big wins too make the next month of footy very very exiting. Grandfinals are won in September and thats when the good sides perform not round 1,2,10 or even 17!! looking forward to getting down that way over the next couple of weeks and watching the Kanga boys and might even come to Romsey if the smoke has left that fire that someone put all that plastic in a few weeks back hahahahahahahaha :thumbsu:(I know you know what I mean big fella):):):):thumbsu::thumbsu::D:D:D CONALINKOOOOOOOOO YOU BEAUTY!!

Well the apparent Romsey juggernaut has been stopped!! Well done to Big Al Meldrum and co. Pedos Black Caviar comment may just come back to haunt him yet.

Maybe, as an earlier post said about the jockey, Pedo should be sacked!! One loss doesn't write a team off yet though. Makybe Diva finished 4th at Benalla races in 2002.

Go Redbacks and Pedo

PS to Connalinko. Ever heard of punctuation or spell check?? Love ya' mate.

The last ten minutes of the Redbacks Cats game was as good as any other that I've seen in too long.. the intensity was extraordinary and the effort from each player made us all in the Com box exhausted, they really gave their all.. both teams looked brilliant when they dictated the play and the INs for the Redbacks were really good.. Dave Henderson's four goals kept them in the game in the third term.. if only this was a final.. thanks to Bakes and the team for hosting us again.. the last three games we've broadcasted there have been heart stoppers.. Riddell, Sunbury and now Macedon..

Hope you yellow carded yourself big fella, no need for the put downs, are you cracking the sads that the spiders had a loss

Cracking the sads?? Not a chance.. Only responding to a know it all that knows very little and is too afraid to even attend an RDFL game but wants to comment from afar.. The same person that decided to join the flock as a follower and jump on board when it became easy to go with cheap shots, but never had the courage to call me up and ask me why I may have changed or edited something. The same person that I protected for several years on this very forum.

All credit has to go to the Cats for the weekend, their performance was outstanding, to come back again after being headed showed character, and it is something that in the past, the Cats may not have done.. I'd have hoped by now that most would know that I am not one to hide from a loss, or "crack the sads" after one.

I just find it interesting that people like to make me a target because I have the courage to get on here and have an opinion, and the only way that people can have a shot back is with cheap shots at me, rarely with balanced and measured responses.. But each to their own I guess...

PS. Yep, I had a shot back for once, report my post if you want it carded.

Hey,
just want to get your thoughts, was having this convo on the plane last night back from Sydney.

The conversation was: is Mick Malthouse the best coach in the AFL, or is it that he has the best list and the players do what he want as they know success will follow

Or is someone like Worsfold the best coach after what happened last year to this year, 16th to top 4...

If we put it in context of our league, dose that mean Romsey's coach is the best, as they are 16-1 or dose a coach of lower placed side that has improved over the year, just scrape into top 6 or improve on last years wins worth the gong of Coach of the Year

Even though they get beaten by the higher placed clubs, is it because the clubs can recruit players or is it being out coached??

Not saying that the coaches from the top placed clubs arent doing their job, but just curious to see what peoples thoughts are on the topic.

Thoughts???

It's an opinion based argument really.

I say Malthouse is the best, irrelevant of the list, the list is predominantly built by the coach, or at least the coach has a big say in it.

But that isn't to put down the effort of a coach that may not have the cattle at his beckoning, just think that coaching has much more involvement than what you do on a Saturday..

In saying that, I am not suggesting who is or isn't coach of the year in the RDFL, there are plenty of coaches that could stake a claim in their own form in 2011... :thumbsu:

Was there enough tissues at the ground on satday to wipe the egg off pedos face when cousins didn't fly in, in the helicopter, he must of been keen as mustard to play, changing his number and all

Yes mate, plenty of tissues. Excellent work by you!!

Anyone know the venues for the first week of finals, which teams will be playing where (1v2, 3v6, not actual teams given ladders not yet finalised)?

An announcement on the Senior Finals venues will be made by close of business on Friday 26th August.

In saying that, it would take a few massive results for the ladder to change too much from here. So the first week of finals look like this

Qualifying Final - Romsey Vs Riddell
1st Elimination Final - Sunbury Kangaroos Vs Wallan
2nd Elimination Final - Macedon Vs Diggers Rest

Third year is a row for Macedon V Diggers in an elimination final which is remarkable. Do you think the Cats are better placed this year to change the result of the last 2 years?
